In what would be tragic news for Walter and Judy Koenig, Vancouver police found a body earlier today, which they believe to be that of the missing Andrew Koenig.

Police found the body today at noon, in Stanley Park. Stanley Park is where Koenig was last seen on February 14, and was one of his favorite places.

More details will be released at a news conference later today, where Koenig's family will be present and where reporters have been asked to gather. TrekToday will update this story as new details emerge.

The Koenig family is in the thoughts of TrekToday and if this does indeed turn out to be the missing Andrew, our heart goes out to the family.

UPDATE: The body was indeed that of Andrew Koenig. "My son took his own life," said his father, Walter. "He was obviously in a lot of pain."

Koenig went on to say to anyone who was considering suicide "before you make that final decision, check it out again and talk to someone."

"If you're one of those people who can't handle it anymore, you know, if you can learn anything from this, there are people out there who really care. You may not think so and ultimately it may not be enough, but there are people who really care."

TrekToday offers the Koenig family our sincere condolences in their time of sorrow.

Walter Koenig has put out at statement about regarding about the signs of suicide and it prevention.

I have reviewed those signs to look for - but really - my question is

* What if you really don't have any friends

* What if you don't have good relations with family

* What if ones life sucked for many years

How is any thing going to matter?

Really people care?

If we did have a caring society - it be easier to prevent suicide.
