Krista Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7833897/pat-summitt-larger-life Diagnosed with Early onset Dementia-Alzheimer's type last year, she has decided to retire from being a head coach for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. She is by far one of my favorite people in the world and it will be difficult watching Women's basketball without her on the sidelines glaring at her players and fighting with the referees. She was the rock that became the foundation for women's college basketball. She will be sorely missed after passing the torch to her long time assistant coach. Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease is a very scary disease. It's sad to see a giant of the coaching world and a very honest and noteworthy woman have her legacy end in such a way. Anyway, she is one of my heroes. She's a good one to have.
Bill W Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 What a great lady and fantastic coach. It's very sad to see her go out this way, especially afeer having watched a couple of relatives suffer with Alzheimers. .
