The lights in the piano lounge bar cast a warm glow around the room. Music poured from the stage like waves, and Josh scanned the room, finding the reason he was there sitting behind the piano, swaying as he played something Christmassy with the look of a man completely at home. Wow. Josh watched from a distance, appreciating the way Christopher moved and seemed to feel the music as though it were alive. It was stunning. A lock of hair had tumbled out of place and swung against Christopher’s for

Josh Matheson decides to take a holiday cruise to get away from his family. With a mix-up in luggage, his whole world is opened to a load of unexpected gifts.
-
One extra suitcase—more old-fashioned than his own—lay incongruously among Josh’s mismatched luggage. Well, people made mistakes. He read the stateroom designation tag attached to the owner’s label and had to squint to decipher the scrawl: Small wonder the porter had read 8 for 0. It belonged to a Mr. Christopher Mainwaring, according to the scribble on the tag. Not a big deal to take it to the man, he thought with a shrug, and definitely not worth bothering the already overworked portering staf

Chapter 3: After work, I start reading the papers Cecil gave me on Monday. It’s time to start orienting myself to my character. I’m not going to concern myself with lines yet, there’s no point. If I can’t get a feel for who this guy is, how am I supposed to deliver my lines effectively? If I’m not comfortable being with men, how will I pull my weight in making this play successful? I suddenly feel very self-conscious about my ability to fulfill my obligations in this role. Fear settles deep

So happy you are enjoying the story so far. Working on the next chapter now, so it will be ready soon. Thanks for reading and commenting. Oh, there will be plenty to come from James and Luce and much, much more.
-
Thank you so much. More will come soon; just working on the next chapter now. Glad you like it. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Yes, Simon is definitely besotted. Yes, that first scene was a lot of things, wasn't it/ LOL Thanks for reading and commenting.

Chapter 5 Simon woke up staring at his living room rug. It blurred until his eyes began to focus. He felt like there was a maul pushing through the side of his skull, and his stomach felt like it was at the bottom of a ruck and getting a good, old-fashioned shoeing. Simon sat up with the care of an injured dog. There was a castle of beer, coke, and other cans built over him like a child’s fort: Matt could be the only one responsible for it. There was no way out of it without it crashing down

Chewy tea is tea with waaaay too much sugar in it. LOL Simon tends to jump in head first when he finds someone he likes. Simon also has a thing about taking care of people, so Alexander fits that mould. At least as far as he can tell. There is a lot going on with them. More to come soon. Promise.
-
Glad you like Luce. She is one of my favourite characters, too. Simon would love to jump Alexander's bones, but he'll be patient. He's god at being patient. Thanks for reading and commenting.
-
Thank you so much. Simon is definitely a character. lol Alexander is very sweet and a lot of other things. You'll see. I don't want to spoil it. Simon and Luce are great. I love their dynamic. Best mates all the way and they act like it. LOL I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Chapter 4 No-one wanted to be the bearer of bad news, least of all Simon. With Matt coming up that afternoon for the weekend, though, Simon couldn’t put off telling him about the engagement. From the moment Matt had met Luce he’d been in love; it was just a shame that Luce hadn’t been equally struck. She liked Matt, enough to tell him plainly and early that they were never going to be a thing, and she cared about him enough to avoid mixed messages like helping herself to his clothes and his

Chapter 3 Taking two stairs at a time, with a grin, Simon continued his sprint from the village, to the school, and to the first floor of the ‘young staff’ wing. He knocked on Luce’s door the moment it was within reach. When she didn’t answer, he went in anyway. She wasn’t on the sofa, in the kitchenette; he glanced from side to side. “Where the— Luce?” “What?” In his room; he should have known. Simon closed her door and strolled down the hall still smiling. The first thing he saw when h

Yeah, he'll have a lot of emotional upheavals before the easy party comes. I'm a hag for drama and angst before things are resolved happily. lol Thanks so much for reading and commenting.

Chapter 2 Sunlight slanting through the blinds wakes me. I didn’t dream, which is a relief; I thought I might spend the night tossing and turning over everything. It’s nine-thirty am and I’m supposed to meet Cecil before long. I want to rest a little longer, though. I’m glad I emailed work last night and scheduled a sick day. At ten o’clock, I finally get out of bed. After three bottles worth of medications, I take another shower for good measure; I hate meeting Cecil looking like a train wre

Simon is definitely gay. Alexander, you'll just have to see. Alexander's adorable in his shy self. I do love him to bits. So glad you're enjoying it so far. Thanks for reading and commenting.

So, my co-author and I have started posting our novel In Defiance, and I wanted to start a discussion thread for people to leave feedback, comments, and questions - if I can answer them early, I will. lol Otherwise, a new chapter should be going up tomorrow and we hope you enjoy.

Chapter 2 + + + All around, large boxes sat on the floor of room seven, adding to the general lack of homeliness and feeling of welcome. No rugs had been laid, no curtains covered the windows, the chairs were still stacked atop the table, and the empty refrigerator sat with its door flung open as the domestics had left it. It reminded Simon of when he’d moved in nearly a decade ago, fresh out of university and trying to settle in. The only proof of planning for a future inhabita

Thank you! I'm so very pleased to hear that. *snuggles*

So, feel free to ask questions or provide feedback for Role Playing here. I wrote the story some years ago as a fanfic because I wasn't confident enough to write it as a proper novel. I now have the confidence to make it the story it was supposed to be, so it's now in the process of conversion, and already completed. I just have to work on it around my grad school assignments and work. Real life gets in the way far too much. You can check the first chapter out here: https://www.gayauthors.org/story/lee-marchais/roleplaying

Just wait. There's is lots going on. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. We have been working on these characters for a few years to make sure we know them well enough to pull this off the way it needs to go. we hope you'll keep reading as it goes.

Thank you. We're glad you like it so far. This story has been in the making for quite a few years, now. There is a lot to come and we hope it's enjoyable for you to follow the story as it progresses. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Thank you for the comment and your feedback. The story is still in process, so things may change as we go. The first few chapters are already written. We're glad you like the characterization. We've been working on building them and their world for years now. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Cole, thank you. This is a rather old story, I'm just revamping it at the moment so that it's the way it was originally intended. I thought it was a good idea to get the big plot point out there rather quickly because the rest is going to focus on the building relationship
