    Part I, chapter 8

    - VIII - He slipped into seductive sleep, enjoying Gabriel’s scent and breath, his head on Rayhe’s shoulder, his arm wrapped tightly around his mate’s waist. Right before he fell asleep, Desmond thought that he should treat this like an unexpected vacation – black streams or not, but he had to admit (grudgingly so) that he actually enjoyed this arrangement somewhat. He sighed, pushed every single thought away, and surrendered to sleep that drowned him in a silent, dark wave almost im

    Part I, chapter 7

    - VII - Julian was smoking silently, watching smoke rings float lazily above the pillows. He shifted his gaze towards Raven, who kept looking at him for the last ten minutes or so. The blond hasn’t said a single word while Raven was telling his story; he listened with blink-free eyes and rigid shoulders. When the brunet finally finished talking, Julian thoughtfully reached for the pack of cigarettes, fished one out, lit it, and then he smoked without saying anything, the same thought

    Part I, chapter 6

    - VI - ...“Raven... I hate to say this...” He felt like he was re-living one of the old, forgotten nightmares. It was not happening; it could not be happening... “Then don’t!” He realized that he sounded hysterical, and he couldn’t care less. “Don’t say it! Something is wrong with your clock! That has to be it!” Yes, he realized suddenly. That’s exactly what it was! There was something wrong with the goddamn clock! Renee could not possibly play such a cruel trick on hi
  4. ☺️ Less than a year, that's for sure. Desmond's hair is still on the short side.
  5. Gah! These quotes were supposed to appear in the previous comment 😫 My bad...
  6. It's not what just Desmond thinks -- Tess thinks that also. She was the one who said that first. Actual, physical time-crossing sounds a lot more impossible for Desmond & Co. than "screwing-your-past-while-you-sleep." Just how it works -- I'm not the one making the rules 🤷‍♀️
  7. Ah, but Desmond's ability doesn't send him back there physically but mind-wise. To actually go there, in corporeal condition is different. PS. I forgot to mention this: “You travel through time?” Raven asked incredulously, and Desmond made an impatient grimace. “No,” he said somewhat shortly. “Time has nothing to do with this...”

    Part I, chapter 5

    - V - Raven kept looking out of the round window without really seeing anything. The airport kept growing bigger and bigger with each minute, as if someone used a magnifying glass, making everything to appear in better focus and real size. He leaned onto the back of his seat when the plane made a mild impact with the ground after it finally landed. He sighed and looked up. The red blinking ‘Buckle Up’ sign blinked one last time and became a lifeless black shadow. Raven sighed again a

    Part I, chapter 4

    - IV - He stood by the window in the living room, blindly staring outside, and ignoring a muffled, distant growling of the vacuum cleaner that came from somewhere upstairs. He held onto his own elbows so hard that his fingernails turned white; he didn’t care. Suddenly, the phone that he put on the windowsill let out a shrill sound, and Raven grabbed it with speed of light. “Yeah,” he breathed into the gadget after he flipped it open, almost dropping it while he was doing that.
  10. Not anymore. It was mentioned (obnoxiously kinda vaguely) in The Dreamtrap. “I believe that the third time was a mistake,” the blond said slowly. “The labyrinth wasn’t meant for me; it was meant for someone else. I just happened to be too close to him when he got sucked in, so it took me along.” “So you got out just fine then?” “I did,” Julian said calmly. “You ditched the guy?” Raven let out short laughter. “No,” the blond replied seriously. “He chose to stay.” “Why?” Raven blinked. “He was positive that his mate was there somewhere,” Julian sighed. “I didn’t argue,” he shrugged. “I just left. He got out though...” “How do you know?” Raven looked at the painting again. “Because he is Claudia’s Air Guardian,” Julian said and leaned closer to the painting, looking at something rather intently. Raven stared at him for a few seconds. “Really,” he muttered slowly without even bothering to make it sound like a question. “Speaking of Claudia... How in the bloody hell did she get him back? I mean,” he shrugged. “The guy should’ve been dead by now...” “He should have,” the blond agreed absent-mindedly. “However, apparently they passed the Trial, and no, I have no clue what they had to do. Frankly,” he glanced at Raven. “I don’t care..." _____________________________ It's easy to miss.
  11. Oh God, yes!
  12. Well, aren't you a smart 😜 As for the rest of the questions... I am sadistic, so I am not saying anything 😈

    Part I, chapter 3

    - III - An hour or so later, Raven wasn’t enjoying that peeling, dry sensation under his shirt anymore. He finished his coffee and pushed away the empty cup. “I need a shower badly,” he said in a low voice, looking at Julian who continued sipping his coffee with an undisturbed look on his face. “Julian…!” “I heard you,” the blond nodded, making no effort whatsoever to hurry up. “Damn you,” Raven grumbled, suppressing a rather strong desire to start scratching his stoma

    Part I, chapter 2

    - II - “Admit it,” Raven tilted his head slightly to the left, his expression sarcastic and laughing. “You are only doing it to be spiteful!” “That’s not the only reason,” Julian said with quiet dignity. “I’ve had it for the last fifteen years, and it’s in great condition…! And I just had it tuned,” he added and lifted the lid on the immaculate white grand piano, running his fingers over the keys and producing several quick chords. “Yes,” Raven nodded, watching those finger
  15. Well, you can. Just not permanently 😈

    Part I, chapter 1

    - I - “One of those days I am going to shove Rayhe on the plane and leave this damn city for good,” the tall brunet said gloomily, staring out of the window with disgust. The rain kept unleashing its fury, and it didn’t seem that it would calm down any time soon. “Gonna move someplace where it doesn’t rain… Ever,” he added with a firm nod and drank more coffee out of his mug. “No, you won’t,” a petite redhead said absent-mindedly, her pencil pausing above a sheet of paper. “It wi

    EPILOGUE

Christy stared at me with disgust. “You are driving there?” she demanded. “Yup,” I nodded lightly. “You have any idea how long it’ll take you?!” “Yup,” I nodded again. “Two days.” She shook her head. “Summers, have you heard of this great invention called a plane?!” “Plane-schlane,” I snorted. “Go on a plane instead of a two days road trip with Sam?! Bailey, are you insane?” She blinked. “Well…” she sighed. “I guess you are right…” “We’ll meet you there,
  22. - VIII - Oh, son of a bitch! I am so late right now – Hailey will kill me for sure! I was positive I missed my first two finals, so I knew that when Hailey noticed me waltzing into the school building, she’d be beyond pale. I tried jumping out of bed but realized that something was holding me down. What the hell? I opened my eyes and let out a squawk of a moan when sunlight assaulted my eyes with a razor blade of brightness. “Jake…” I coughed and it felt like my
  23. - VII - It was May fifteenth. I will remember that date until I die. Sam had to go out of town with Matt for some computer conference, so it was just Christy and me. I missed Sam, but I loved spending time with Christy. We spent almost an entire day just sitting on the couch, watching TV, and I swear, we’ve gone through at least five boxes of ice-cream. “Bailey...” I sighed after she finished the last box. “How do you manage to stay so skinny after you eat shitload of ice-cream a
  24. - VI - A week later, my face looked somewhat decent, and I was relieved that I didn’t look like Frankenstein’s monster when I went back to school. When Sam saw me that night, a week ago, he laughed so hard that he had tears in his eyes. “Very impressive,” he breathed finally and I shot him a dirty look. “I am glad you like it,” I said evenly. “Hopefully, it’ll go away soon enough so I don’t scare customers away... Nobody wants to buy a cell phone from a guy who looks like he
