Chapter Seven Homecoming When the cab arrived at my house, I quickly headed up to the front door. It did not look any different on the outside from when I left; I noticed the grass was mowed and the shrubs had been tended to. I made a mental note to thank Sarah and Chris for keeping up appearances while I was gone. I figured they probably only did it because my nosey neighbors complained about the unsavory types that might be attracted to a vacant house. Most of my neighbors were not the ca

And as always, thank you so much for your kind words!

CHAPTER SIX REUNIONS Soon enough, my plane landed, and I took my time walking back to the main terminal instead of riding the shuttle. I wasn't trying to dawdle in hopes of blowing off Tom, although I have to admit I considered it. I hoped that by stalling, my head would clear a little. I wasn't ready to be back, but I didn't have a choice. Besides, I knew I would probably never be ready. Tom met me as soon as I walked up the stairs from the security area. He had my bags in hand, having gr

Sorry for not responding! I swore I wrote something, but apparently I forgot to actually reply. Which is just awesome. Scott has pretty much been too incapable to deal with anything. I actually meant to go back and reexamine the way I addressed Steve's death itself, but never did. I really never wanted the specifics of Steve's death to play a major role in the story. This is largely because of Scott's self-destructive nature at the moment. He's so deeply wallowing in pity that the only 'reason' for him doing anything is that it gets people off his back! The answers are coming in the following chapters, I swear!

CHAPTER FIVE RUNNING FROM THE PAIN I caught the first flight from Atlanta to Baltimore, which wasn't hard, since both were major hubs for an airline. My parents picked me up at BWI and drove me back to their home in Annapolis. I knew, even then, I was simply running from my problems, but I was just too overwhelmed by everything that had happened in the past four months of my life. Will had been the only person I had felt I could confide in. Maybe he thought I was sending signals I didn't m

Heh...after working to make you trust Will (yes this was the plan for Will from the beginning) BUT: did Will take advantage of Scott, or just slip-up and misread the situation? Either way, he should have known better, but he is merely human, after all!

I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far! I have to admit, I didn't exactly pay much attention to time-span with this part, but it probably would have pushed it back to about 5 days or so total. Scott is in such a state of shock and handling this so poorly that I just went easy on him. The police don't think he's a suspect, so they wouldn't have brought him in unless he was being uncooperative and wanted to hard-ball him. And TBH, I never thought about police tape at all until you mentioned it. Actually, since it's an active crime scene, I'm not sure if Scott would have been allowed to stay there....huh. lol As far as the explanation of "don't", I like yours. You'll have to wait for chapter 13 to know if you're right though I'm not surprised that there are little things like the 'forgiving' though out. Thanks for pointing it out! I really hope I addressed everything!

CHAPTER FOUR ACCEPTING ASSISTANCE As the next several weeks went by, Sarah came by less and less – largely because Will was usually there. It's not like the two didn't get along; I guess Sarah just figured I didn't need her around as much. Will had practically moved in with me. He came over every night after he got off work and, more often than not, spent the night. By this point, we both slept in our boxers with him holding me. We were not 'together' or anything, and of course, we still s

I'm so sorry to hear that, but I'm glad that are enjoying the ride!

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying! (I really need to double check reviews more often LOL)

CHAPTER THREE COPING As Ethan's car pulled up in front of our house, I immediately noticed a major change. The large windows had been covered by ugly, black security bars. A new security door had been installed, as well. I then noticed the small form of Sarah waiting on the front steps. She stood up as everyone got out of the cars. "What the hell, Sarah?" I asked as we approached the porch. "What did you do?" There were three reasons Steve had fallen in love with this house. The first was

Thanks Mikie!

Thanks Billy! (but don't you mean for this to be a chapter review and not a story review? )

Heh...apparently I used the wrong chapter name too....oops It's a shame that this is the first time that someone pointed out how the Will/Michelle confrontation comes across (considering the chapter has been posted elsewhere since November) But I'm grateful that people have pointed it out so that I can try to make it fit a little bettter

I guess I'll have to tweek that section a little bit...I've gotten emails complaining about everything under the sun, but none pointed that out! In my mind Will casually mentioned something along the lines of Scott being a good-looking guy, and Michelle takes her own emotions out on Will. I'll take a brief look at it tomorrow and see if I can't make it a little clearer! Thanks for pointing it out!

The cast is greatly reduced after the three chapters (with the exception of chapter 5) but the nature of the scene led to a lot of characters being involved in the sequence. I just hope that I did justice portraying each character the way I intended!

I'm glad I was able to capture the scene there...thank you!

As always, thanks Billy

Thank you! (sorry, just learned I could respond to the reviews!)

CHAPTER TWO REQUIEM I ran, pushing myself as hard and as fast as I could, even though I was wearing my best suit. I must have been quite a sight for anyone I passed; my face red with exertion, sweat forcing my pale-brown hair to form odd clumps. Tears continuously streamed down my face. I didn't know where I was going, but I had no intention of stopping anytime soon. Even if I hadn't been in good shape, my adrenalin level was through the roof. Combined with the stress and emotions I had be

CHAPTER ONE THE FUNERAL I was frozen in place as I stared at the coffin in front of me before dropping my gaze down to the single white rose I held in my hand. Forcing myself to move, I took a deep breath and slowly stepped forward to look down upon Steve. My husband took my breath away every time I looked at him. Why would this time be any different? I placed the rose on his chest, and leaned forward to give him one final kiss. A kiss I didn't want to give; a kiss goodbye. In a numb tranc

Scott must find a way to come to terms with the unexpected loss of his husband, find a way to put his life back together, and learn to continue to live his life. Is it possible to put all the pieces back together and learn to love again?

Hi! My name is Fitz, and I've only been writing for a few months. Looking forward to adding my story to GA. It's already hosted elsewhere, but looking for some increased visibility.
