Thanks for the review. I agree with you that sometimes parts of the story are hard to write. When I first started writing, I had a hard time having my characters do things I'd never do, but after many writers' conferences learned that you need to make characters real and make them do things you would never think of doing. It's interesting that you say this story must be real because who could make this stuff up. It helps to read a lot and I know of teenagers (not personally) who have done underage porn and have become prostitutes. Of course, we never think of middle class kids doing this, but it happens. And of course, for Matt to do something like that went against everything we knew about it. As a writer I do like to have my characters do the unexpected, but as a writer this was even unexpected for me. Some of this is explained by Matt and Andy in the next chapter. I'm going along writing about Andy and Matt's date. They ended up having an argument. That just came out of nowhere. Then Derrick comes to the table and propositions Matt. One thing led to another. None of it was previously planned in my head. I do believe in letting my characters lead me to places I might not have taken them. I'm sure it all comes from my subconscious and finds its place on the written page. You are right about parts being painful to read. I had a reader write me and told me quit reading Knots because he didn't like where the story was going. I tried to encourage him to read on because I thought the sessions with Dr. Walker were insightful. But he never wrote me back to tell me he continued like you have. Well, I've gone on much longer than I expected, but your comments warmed me and I just thought I needed to give you some insight into the process. Feel feel to review again. I welcome all comments and often what readers write to me find their way into the story. That guy that wrote me and said he quit reading Knots because he didn't like the way the story was going its place in the story in a subtle way because Andy and Matt do some reflection on the things they've done. Matt even says, "I'm sure I disappointed a lot of people who have been reading my journal. I disappointed myself too." So you just never know. I'm not sure if they like these cliffhangers, but it gives them a chance to ponder the possibilities and what they might do if they were in that situation. Colt was innocent enough, but once Thomas and he had sex, he got confident and realized after Andy started complementing him that he ws pretty hot and maybe he should experiment around a little. At that age, I often think it all comes down to sex and experimenting. Colt wants to test the waters. After all, he and Randy had tested the waters with each other, with Dillon, and with Andy and Matt. He's not all that innocent despite being a nice young man.

Lisa, you made a lot of good points in your comments. Thomas should just dump him, but do most of us do the logical thing when we should. No, we're always hoping things will work out. Hope spring eternal. Andy should know that Colt isn't going to really love him, but he's always searching and always hoping even though Matt is there for him with plenty of love. Maybe not much sex right now, but Matt is truly loved by Matt.

Lisa, you have me laughing out loud. I don't blame you for wanting to slap Andy up the side of the head. I think Matt and Thomas do too. Colt's reaction caught Andy by surprise. Andy got the ball rolling and then can't stop it.

I'm not sure where Jaro is, but he will return. He always does. Glad you liked this chapter. Andy just can't stand to have his life run smoothly. Some people love living in chaos I guess. Hopefully, some day he will learn.

Lisa, I always love it when readers get choked up. My goal is to try my best to give the reader a chance to smile and cry and to be upset that the characters do such stupid things sometimes. Thanks for the tears and your commenting on them.

Readers love Matt and of course are usually mad at Andy. But he's a lovable character in his own way. He does show character now and then. I'm sure there will be a big change in him as he matures. But he'll probably have a few more tumbles before that time.

Matt does have common sense, but think of King David in the Bible. Even the great ones fall now and then. David's son Solomon did too. So this stuff is as old as the ages and written history.

Some people just don't care about other people. Derrick, is in his early 20's and should still know better, but Noland is a lot older, he should really know better.

Dr. Walker is something else. I was writing someone the other day who was a bit upset because Andy and Matt had prostituted themselves, but there would have been no Dr. Walker if they hadn't. It was because of that their parents forced them to go to counseling.

Lisa, you make me realize that even relationships between friends require work and like you said, when you add sex, it's a whole new ballgame.

That's Andy. As far as the parents go, I think that parents who hate their children for being gay is becoming a cliche, but I know there are still many, but I thought it would be nice to have some accepting parents.

Yes, Matt seems to be on track and Andy is following, but the question is, can Andy handle Matt's unwillingness to be more than a friend with benefits. Well, benefits after the parents ease up.

Kubrika Thanks for writing. I'm glad you like the story line. It's taken some unusual twists and turns that I didn't eve expect. But this was supposed to end with Knots 1 and here we are at Knots 4 and I have no idea where these boys are going. I know that's kind of an odd thing to say, but each week I rack my mind for what will happen next. Having the boys go into prostitution was something I had not planned out. It was when I was writing about Derrick paying attention to Matt that it occurred to me that he might hustle him. And if it wasn't for Andy and Matt going into business with Derrick, there never would have been a Dr. Walker. Crazy isn't it. A lot of readers like those sessions with Dr. Walker. Of course I had to figure out a way to get them out of the prostitution. It took some hard thought and that's how I came up with them confessing to the parents who then required them to go to counseling. I have a lot of experience and many thoughts stored in this old mind of mine and sometimes they jump out on the page. Thanks again for taking the time to write a comment.
