  1. i can't be the only person following this closely, can i? all i have to say is that at this point i'm relieved. when the time travel-ish stuff started, i was really scared dan was just recycling ideas, and it wouldn't be anything original. but this feels like...actual story, with problems and drama not being insta-resolved just after being introduced. really looking forward to how this progresses.
  2. i know i'm excited about how this story is shaping up. so glad i decided to check in today for updates.
  3. jeebus, it's been a long time since i've posted here. but i needed to put in my two cents worth! i'm pretty sure i said it back when itfb first started, and it's still true. i don't like travis. he's the kind of person i avoid being around. as our personalities would clash hardcore. that said, i do think he's a positive influence in dennis' life, in that he's pushing him out of the safe little shell he's hiding in. lord knows i'd be absolutely outraged if i were dennis at the end of that chapter. and when i say outraged, i mean relationship's over outraged, not angry now forgiveness later. oh, and just to throw out the sad thing that i'm remembering as i read on. way, way, way, way, way back when dom was still writing tlg, i was always hiding in the back, silently rooting for dennis and owen in the end. that's probably sad, as i wasn't even entirely sure that dennis was into guys back then. always hoping for that long-shot, i guess.
  4. i was all sunshine and rainbows till he said "best timeline ever" at the end. i really hope that's not foreshadowing, not this soon.
  5. i don't know what you guys are talking about. i kind of always thought of that as dk's style. calm and then BOOM!!! (and then more boom and then some detailed schematics and then political drama and then a couple more booms (also sex sprinkled about, mostly in the beginning) followed by a summarized ending to tie up the loose ends...seems about right. *shrug*) i do enjoy the shock value, though.
  6. i agree with bodgy. as much as i like hearing about dennis, i would like to know what's going on with everyone else. and no, i don't mean just owen and aiden.
  7. hahaha, awesome. i continue to not be a travis fan, but that's just...fun. i love owen so much. him doing something crazy like that just endears him to me more. i also agree with raz about him being with someone other than aiden. if aiden's going to waste time being an idiot about this, then he doesn't deserve owen. though i was off in the corner rooting for d&o in the end. it won't happen, but i secretly wished it would.
  8. i was under the impression that the program sean created at the end of the last timeline blocked all the other time-travel events, and that's how the other timelines were erased. this timeline wouldn't exist otherwise, since davey was originally sent back years before everything that's happening now. i imagine something along the lines of... "it will totally work! ...why isn't it working?!" "you wasted all my money for this crap?!" "but it should work! my calculations were perfect!" "whatever, idiot."
  9. wow. damn you and your cliffhangers, dk (jk, keep going). i am so glad i'm suffering from insomnia tonight, or i might have had to wait till after work to read them. awesome. just awesome. and while i don't want to spoil anything for anyone seeing this who hasn't read them yet, FINALLY!!!
  10. total agreement. also, i really liked the ending. it wasn't anything fancy, but i somehow got a little choked up there.
  11. well, hey. it's not like that ending no longer exists. brian remembers it, and that makes it real and relevant, especially since he's changing history with that timeline in mind.
  12. i saw it coming. i was hoping it wasn't, but then it did. and if they end up together...eww, just eww.
  13. and that was a bitch move, putting it up in the morning. i was late for work...jerk...who i adore...begrudgingly...
  14. well...it's definitely not getting any less confusing.
  15. i thought the lesson behind paycheck was that looking into the future only showed you the future created by looking into the future, ie -> self-fulfilling prophecy / you see war, you start a war pre-emptively i don't see the relation to the DO series. if anything the DO series creates a host of different possible outcomes due to increasing prior knowledge of what one's actions can do. it's more about fixing mistakes than becoming trapped in a situation from which there seems to be no escape (philip k. dick seems to be fond of those situations).
  16. i was seriously going through withdrawal, dk. thank you verily for the new installments.

    ITFB 7

i'm just glad i thought to look here. lovely chapter. i'll have to reread it when i'm more than a quarter awake. =)
  18. MUST. HAVE. MORE. I just can't get enough of these guys. I'm hooked on your characters, DK.
  19. all these characters, and every fiber of my being is focused on dennis and owen. how horribly tortuous that i had to wait until the very end of the chapter to read about them. oh, dom. how cruel thou art.
  20. then it's all the more exciting, also like two completely unrelated stories i've read that turned out pretty much exactly like that.
  21. i am totally there! not sure why. i just am.
  22. actually, you should recheck the posts from back then. i was on the seth/rory bandwagon fairly early on. and since we're talking about DD, the reasons i dislike travis are similar to the reasons i didn't like aaron. but you can see me badmouthing aaron in the threads about DD, so i don't really need to do that again, i'm sure. basically, moody/quiet=good | manipulative/coming-on-too-strong=bad. in my book.
  23. i said skimming, not skipping. i don't lose the facts. i just don't waste emotional involvement in them, when they don't suit me. my dislike in him is based almost entirely in the way he treats dennis. i don't like people who hijack other people. dennis may like that. if so fine. dennis is allowed to like that about him. it won't change my dislike of him, because that's not a quality i appreciate in people. and just because i don't like one character doesn't mean i'm not enamored with the tale-telling of the other characters. i'm sweating every second i have to wait for something about dennis...or owen...or nicky. in my head i'm waiting for stuff about them. dom does seem to be pushing dennis/travis somehow, and i would be disappointed if he didn't become less...well, the way he's been around dennis. but to not read just would not happen. besides, it's a credit to dom that he's managed to create a character that i can hate. it creates some variety. it would be boring to love everyone.
