  1. Thank you both for your efforts. In going back to St. Vincent I found the following in chapter 42, George talking about Bacchante; “I think she looks rather crazed and horny,” Chartley corrected. “And she has large breasts.” They laughed again, and then Granger let his eyes move past her, to the forecastle. The snub nose of a nine-pounder poked out at them, the perfect gun for a bow-chaser. They dismounted and walked next to her on the dock. “She seems so much bigger than Belvidera,” Chartley observed. “She is 20 feet longer and five feet wider than Belvidera,” Granger said. “She is rated for 38 guns, so will carry six more 18-pounders than Belvidera does.” They walked back to the stern, where the expansive windows spread across the back of the ship. Her name was emblazoned across her stern. That would seem to indicate that Belvidera did in fact have 32 - 18pdrs., but with only 30 (15 aside) mentioned as being on the gun deck where would those last two have been located. Unless it was originally a typeo, that was missed. Thanks again, I will keep looking for a definitive answer. Let us hope that today we find a new chapter posted to the site. Ta ta for now.
  2. I still don't do song and dance. So to raise this curtain of silence (no posts in 3+ days). I have been confused (not that way) from the start about how each class of ship was rated for guns. Were the bow chasers, smashers or carronades included in the count? For example, Belvidera was rated as a 32, but her gun deck only had 15 -18pdrs on each side. So were the bow chasers counted or were the carronades? I finally found something on this (click below) and I am still not sure of the answer. Can any one out there help me on this? Westie/Mark? Thanks in advance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rating_system_of_the_Royal_Navy

    Chapter 12

Given the Royal treatment, are they just good allies or is there some hidden reason behind it all? Regardless his ship has been healed, now to try and find out if there is another reason behind his good fortune there. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 11

The gauntlet has been thrown, who will prevail, Granger or Wilcox ( a foregone conclusion)? Cavendish another recruit into 'The Club Boy George'. How they be treated in this Portuguese port, the last time was a disaster. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 10

George doing his duty, seeing his men cut down and ship torn apart, truly agonizing. The Captain of Illustrious doing what he knew to be the right thing regardless of his orders. Wilcox sowing the seeds of his own demise. A really great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 9

I think every single person he has bed in this series, is going drop by on this ship the way things are going. Interesting chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 8

Skill with planning and a bit of luck and the convoy is saved with a fantastic first action. Loosing Mr Grafton really shook him up even though only two dead total was remarkable. Now he has Wilcox to contend with again, truly no rest for the wicked. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 7

His first action with his new ship, will his luck hold or fail him. Not only his men but the convoy are depending on him. Not the best of odds, but his track record as a gambler is damn good. Great chapter, nice set up, thank you.

    Chapter 6

George and Travers almost back together. Floreal, some where out there, I smell action in the wind and I worry about Travers facing her alone. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 5

Happy, not, happy, not, is nothing straight forward for our Captain? There looks to be a storm coming, just to add to his already heavy heart. There must be a silver lining some where at hand. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 4

Is it George L. (for Lucky) Granger or what. From down and out to over the moon. What does this voyage hold for our young Captain, can his luck last or is some thing brewing over the horizon, time will tell. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 3

Happy to be going to the Med instead of India. Sad to loose Calvert after all their efforts. Happy that Intrepid will have a Captain who will take care of her. Who will his Lordship find for him, will he luck out again? Off to new adventures, but with a heavy heart. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 2

Amazingly brave of Calvert to meet and make a deal with Caroline. Even more amazing that she agreed. With much work the ship has been transformed. The first test was Caroline and a total success. Now comes the ultimate challenge, his Lordship. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 1

A sad ship and crew, with just two weeks and a visit by the First Sea Lord, he has his work cut out for him. With Calvert and his old crew helping, plus his prize money, I am sure his Lordship (and wife) will be suitably impressed. Georges' wish has come true, in command of a wolf of the sea, every Post Captains' dream. Great chapter, thank you.
  15. Mark This was by far the best of the three to date. The characters, adventures and flow of the story kept me constantly looking out for the next chapter. I would enjoy it more if there was less sex involved, but that is your style. So to get what I want I'll take what you give. Bridgemont really is my favorite, thank you very much.

    Chapter 32

Command of a frigate. A chance to clear her name and shame, to make his mark as her Captain and restore her to glory. His wife now knows and still wants him. But in return he is off to India once more. He has Calvert and his old crew with him, which should give him a fighting chance. This was your best in the series, thank you ever so much.

    Chapter 31

Instrumental in getting a treaty ratified. The cherry to top off an unbelievable voyage. Influence, charm, friends in very high places and a string of successes. Mixed all together gives us a very young Post Captain and a frigate called Belvidera. A wonderful chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 30

Of course the French man would have incredibly important papers which George manages to save. Important enough to go see the President. Small world that those he and Travers saved just happen to be around. Impressive but not surprising with Granger around. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 29

Humphreys his own command, Fitzwilliam with him. Calvert back aboard as 1st Lt. One more trip (but a long one) and then back to home. Sounds to easy, something has to occur. Promotion to Captain, not even twenty yet, well it is a story so why not. Great chapter, thank you.
  20. sandrewn

    Chapter 28

Good judgment and fast thinking as well as luck won the day. Humphreys' assessment and quick actions were the key to this one. Taking back two prizes to boot is another feather or two in Georges' cap. This should get even Jervis to smile. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 27

Fortunately George is a fast talker and turned a possible disaster with Jervis into praise and a mission. Calvert is almost healed. Humphreys is in seventh heaven with being given command of the assault. I wonder if Murphys' Law will come into play again. Great chapter, thank you.
  22. sandrewn

    Chapter 26

A hero once again without a shot being fired. Calvert on the mend. When things go right for George they do in a big way. Is there a prize for taking an island? Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 25

Grandfather gives George the bitter facts of life, then as a salve, a grand house in London. Calvert dying except maybe for piss and maggots. He is off the hook and gets Fitzwilliam off also and sails off to his mission, with him in tow. Well done, great chapter, thank you.
  24. sandrewn

    Chapter 24

Well we know one of the genes that he passed on to George. Will George listen to his advice. He is back to the seamen again. I wonder exactly how George defines honorable when reflecting on his own actions. Great chapter, thank you.
  25. sandrewn

    Chapter 23

Calvert, alive but will he survive and Fitzwilliam, both back on board. Freemantle cut from the same cloth as a Wilcox. Jervis sounds like a good man. Now on to meet his Grand papa. Great chapter, thank you.
