  1. Of course he will be last. You and I voted that way and with 125 years of accumulated wisdom behind us it is a sure bet. The only possible monkey wrench to this, is the fickle author of this tale (no offence intended Mark). Ricky, kindly no remarks about possible senile dementia, thank you ever much.

    Chapter 22

So, first there was Major Vincent van den Boss, followed by Colonel Jamie da Gama, then Colonel Juan Manuel de la Ventura and now Colonel da Colma. I like your idea Mark, that all work and no play would make George a dull boy (and he certainly isn't that). So now he has a problem Viceroy and a British Consul who appears to be in cahoots with and related to Maidstone. The plot thickens, a wonderful chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 21

A nasty gram to Lisbon, to stir up the pot, a good start. A prize, hopefully just the first of many more to come. O'Higgins, with his knowledge, this could be just the edge Granger needs. Secret Orders????? To top it off, this Viceroy in Rio does not appear to be well disposed towards our Captian. Suprise, suprise. More please. Thank you.

    Chapter 20

Conway gone, like a shadow lifted for all ( especially the doctor). Yet another pod of wogs is transformed into a new bunch of crusty shellbacks. Sort of reminds me of becoming an honourary Newfoundlander ( hanging upside down, drinking screech and kissing a Codfish). Great chapter, thank you. http://www.todhunter.org/linksnlore/screech.html

    Chapter 19

Escaped prisoners, no great loss (less problems for him). However the Governors' warning of possible problems with the other Portuguese Governors and/or Viceroys that he will encounter in his travels is worrisome. That is for the future, right now Conway is his main concern. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 18

So Conway has started, first with the midshipmen and now the crew. Except for him it would be a good voyage so far. What will Conway do next and how will Granger handle it and him? Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 17

From being happy with his new Ships Master, to now having to watch for possible treachery. Still he did have some good ideas for the ship. The officers are up beat with dreams of possible riches. Nelsons next venture is doomed (history tells us), but his expressions of cherished friendship towards Grander ended the chapter on a positve note. Thank you.
  8. Legacy character, my foot. Will we learn why Capt. Travers changed sides after his capture? As it stands now, if he went back to England he would be hanged (or is that drawn and quartered). What might (will) Granger get him to do, that might restore honor to him, his name and family. All for the love of Johns' memory. Inquiring minds (me) want to know.

    Chapter 16

It's great to have Gatling back, a known quantity, it will help get the other midshipmen up to speed. The new Master seems almost heaven sent, just what Granger needed. And they're off (finally). Let the Odyssey begin. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 15

It seams that Kingsdale is to remain with us even after the voyage. Any pardon is better than no pardon, but 15 years service, ouch. Talk about taking the long way around, this trip is getting longer and longer and he hasn't even left yet.Authority to remove or replace a governor, rescue whalers, destroy privateers, cause mayhem on both coasts of South America. Sounds more like a life time career, than a (simple) Odyssey. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 53

As Charlie Chan used to say, ah so (or was it, asshole). You are one sneaky S.O.B.. We did not even know that he was still alive. Then again it is your story and can do with it what you like. With but a few short paragraghs, he is out of Egypt, on the Med, sailing towards his destiny. Masterful, thanks Mark.
  12. There are 86 admitted adherents to this series. In any given chapter an average of 20 + say they like that chapter. Yet we have had as low as 2 reviews to some of these chapters. Now, exactly why should Mark rush to give us what we want in view of the above. Come on guys ( and gals ) get onto your keyboards and send. Now, my absolute last guess of who it is. Prince William of Gloucester with the added bonus to us of finding out the name and gender of Georges latest child, straight from the sperm donors mouth.

    Chapter 14

What the heck is Sir Tobias up to? I love the sound of bagpipes. Even the Duke ( hence the Brotherhood) seems not to know. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 13

What a variety of midshipmen this time around. There is no resemblance between these mutineers and their peers in the last mutiny. This one is doomed. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 12

Well he must know someone to have become Sir Tobias Maidstone. That both Spencer and Cavendish are weary of him, speaks to the power and influence he is capable of. Bad for Jackson and by extension George. His crew is complete, time to get the hell out of Dodge, anchors aweigh.
  16. sandrewn

    Chapter 11

Calverts observations on Georges feelings towards Caroline, were suprising, but quite accurate. Saving Jackson would be a start at pay back for all Jackson has done for him and those George cares about. Now was it normal cucumber (short and stout) or an english one (long and thin)?
  17. I made a list of all the Frenchmen and Spaniards he has encountered to date. At the top of said list is Napoleon. However you did not say 'meet again' so I'm still working on it. Maidstone, I don't see how, but with Mark anything is possible. For those patiently waiting (as I) for the next chapter, the following might be a distraction of interest. http://www.lindahall.org/events_exhib/exhibit/exhibits/napoleon/learn.shtml

    Chapter 10

Arthur off the hook, a relief to him and to Granger. Our beloved Intrepid lost. Now a dream come true, the return of Calvert. Things are really looking up. Some thing has to go wrong, its all to good to be true. Great chapter, thanks.

    Chapter 9

That Howe would volunteer another of his nephews to Grangers care, is telling. It must have irked George to have to by extension also defend Colpoys who was probably the one who leaked to the papers. But then again, it did get him a full crew. Great chapter, thanks.
  20. The only one left I can think of might be his grandfather. Dead man walking.
  21. Mark, I think this one comment of yours, put the kibosh to this poll. however I still think Calvert will get back first.
  22. sandrewn

    Chapter 8

Arthur and Holmquist, who would of thought it. Granger must have that speech memorized by now. Lets get this show on the road and get the heck out to sea, please. Great chapter, thank you.
  23. sandrewn

    Chapter 7

Freddie asking a favour, WOW. Spencer setting him up, OUCH. Holmquist back in the fold, YAY. So much for adoring fans, fickle bunch. But, a full crew. Great chapter, thank you.

    Chapter 6

Not the most exciting chapter, but a lot of back ground on the mutiny and the mind sink of those Lords of the Admiralty, not a good mix. So Davina is with child, but whose? I guess only time will tell, if even then.
  25. sandrewn

    Chapter 5

Bacchante is crewed at last. It is hard to imagine the seamen not having a pay raise in 140 years, Literally generations and generations. A man would of earned the same as his grand or great grandfather. It boggles my mind. Great chapter, thank you.
