The problem is, over the course of 20+ years, I no longer have my character profiles, outline, or any of my notes, so I have no idea what was supposed to happen after Chapter 5, so I highly doubt that WISYA will ever see the light of day, unfortunately. And my current project list is so long now, that it could literally be years until I am able to get to it. I do have a regular job (albeit part-time), but I don't have limitless time to write (I wish I did). I don't write chapter-by-chapter anymore, though. I finish the entire novel before I start posting. Right now, I'm pretty much focused on getting the pre-writing prep work done for the sequel to SFTF, and then the release of "Medellin," and then a few other ideas I'll need to flesh out for what comes after. I think y'all will like "Medellin." It's VERY different from SFTF, much darker, more intense. Violent. Graphic. But also f-ing romantic. I can't wait to start posting it! It was truly a labor of love for me personally, more so than SFTF, because the city of Medellin holds a very special place in my heart.

Yes, I would still leave the original and post a separate "2025 Remix" version or something like that, so you can always go back and read the original if you so choose. And my pleasure! 😉

We probably won't see a sequel, but a complete rewrite/heavy revision of "Someday" is on my list of things to work on. I finally finished "Medellin" last night (yay!), so today I'll be getting started on the sequel to "Swing for the Fences," doing character descriptions, outlining, more research, stuff like that. What I may do with "Someday" is work on one chapter at a time in between working on the new SFTF, and maybe post a "new" chapter once a month or something like that. I haven't decided yet exactly how I'm going to do it, but it's definitely on my list of future projects (along with a lot of other things). I write pretty fast, but what takes a long time is editing, and then waiting for the current story to be finished posting (I don't want to have two different stories being posted at once, just a personal preference). So anyway, "Someday" will happen someday, but I don't know when exactly, or in what form. ☺️

So now that it's basically up to the dorm parent to "decide" if something should be reported as "sexual activity" or not, a lot is going to depend on who their next dorm parent is going to be. Would they bring Mr. G back? I think he would probably be pretty lax with Nick and Jack. Or will they bring in someone completely new, and what could that person be like? If they're not laid back like Mr. G, then it could cause problems down the road for Nick and Jack. The ironic thing is that even though the handbook was modified, it doesn't really amount to much change. The students are unlikely to change their behavior, and a lot of discretion is given to the dorm parent, as it seemed to be before.

It's used in the metaphorical/lyrical sense, not in the actual baseball sense. It also happens to be the title of a new Elton John song on his album "Who Believes in Angels," and the song 'Swing for the Fences' is about young adult/teen gay love. That's why I chose that title. ☺️ And if you've read my story "Someday Out Of the Blue," you would know that I have an obsession with Elton John. Actually met him in person and corresponded with him back when I was in college. Very nice guy, smells really good, too.

The students began filing into the field house for morning assembly at around 8:30 a.m. My stomach was doing somersaults. Mark, Emery, Jonah, Danny, Jack, and I walked in together, looking like any other group of perfectly obedient, uniformed Harrison West boys. You’d never guess that half of us were about to stage the most coordinated act of rebellion this school had seen in years. Maybe ever. I’d never been a rule-breaker. Never even wanted to be. But in a few short minute

Anyone have any thoughts on how this little episode will end? We'll find out on Wednesday .....

I was up before my alarm. I hardly got any sleep the night before. Wide awake. Heart pounding. Nerves coiled like springs in my stomach. I didn’t know exactly what today was going to bring, but I knew one thing: I wasn’t going to spend another second hiding. I took a dump, showered, and got dressed faster than I ever had before in my life. I barely even checked my hair in the mirror – just ran a hand through it once and called it a day. Across the room, Jack was still cu

Everything serves the plot and moves both the story and Nick's (and Jack's) "coming-of-age" forward. There is no "agenda" other than that. And a story with no "conflict" wouldn't be a very interesting story to me. It is because of dealing with "conflict" (in various different forms) that drives the "coming-of-age" of the protagonists. They wouldn't learn/grow unless they were faced with difficult situations which they had to overcome/resolve. This is just one of those conflicts that I chose to put in their way, because it does address some interesting (and complicated) themes. As for the issue of no school in the U.S. wanting to be seen as condoning free sex among minors, I did A LOT (months) of research before I started writing, and there were a number of schools who phrased their handbooks exactly as I did in the story. Perhaps they were in different states with different laws, but it is certainly not unheard of. Moreover, parents and students in the various forums I visited on life at boarding school ALL said that sex was happening constantly, everywhere, and most often, the administration (or dorm parents) usually turned a blind eye to it, and just give them warnings, although serious repeat offenders could sometimes get suspended, but none had ever heard of an expulsion for sex (unless it was coerced/non-consensual). The biggest problems that they seemed to have were drugs and alcohol, and those were the "one strike, you're out" type of situations. At any rate, we'll have to wait and see how it is handled/addressed over the next couple of chapters (where a lot of these questions/concerns are addressed, although maybe not to everyone's satisfaction), so I think we're jumping the gun a little bit. Chapter 24 will be out on Saturday morning, so we will see what comes next for our lads ... and especially what they learn from it and how they grow from it. And be sure, they will face other challenges down the road, too.

Hahahaha ... I promise, it won't. Things speed up considerably from here! That's why I said Chapter 23 is such an important chapter as we move into the second half of the novel, like the ride to the top of a rollercoaster, nice and slow, and then WHAM! But I guess I shouldn't be giving too much away. 🤫

At some point during the night, Jack and I had managed to kick off our pajama bottoms and boxers. Not intentionally. There was no epic, seductive stripping scene. Just a combination of body heat, the furnace turned up way too high, sleepy wriggling, and two teenage boys being overly affectionate under one too-warm blanket while barely conscious. When I groggily blinked awake the next morning, the first thing I noticed was Jack’s nose brushing against mine, and the second thing I notice

My favorite "new" song is "Who Believes in Angels" by Elton John & Brandi Carlile (would make a good story title, too).

I've posted another blog entry at "Little Buddha's Stone Grotto" if anyone is interested. Lots of updates and info on my current writing projects, and more story recommendations.

So, Chapters 21 and 22 of Swing for the Fences have both been posted now, and they're what I would consider "transitional" (and shorter) chapters, giving Nick and Jack some time to "settle in" as new boyfriends and be happy and in love for a little while. But stay tuned for Chapter 23 (which will be posted on Wednesday, September 3rd), as some more "excitement" will come along to challenge Nick and his friends. The second round of revisions/edits for Medellin is taking longer than I expected, due to a lot of changes and rewrites I've been making along the way, which I hope will make the story as a whole much better. For those who love the kind of innocent, sweet, saccharine love story (so far) of Swing for the Fences, Medellin will be much, much darker in tone, with the complicated and more mature romance(s) being more intense, but experienced within the backdrop of a violent drug war. I hope some of you will enjoy it when it comes out later this year! But, because Swing for the Fences is so long, it still shouldn't affect my overall schedule, hopefully. I've also gotten some summaries and a couple of character sketches for some new story ideas that have been running through my head. There's also a sweet scene towards the very end of Swing for the Fences that we don't "see" (because Nick isn't present and the story is from his POV, obviously), only partially told about afterwards. So, I'm thinking of doing a quick short story version of that particular scene, told in the third-person for something a little different, and I would post that as we get closer to the end of Medellin to get everyone in the mood for the SFTF sequel (that I really, really hope I can pull off on-time!). It's a very ambitious schedule and timeline, I know, but I've been enjoying very much so far, and especially the emails and comments have been great. And if you are enjoying Swing for the Fences, please don't be afraid to drop me a line and let me know if you're enjoying it or not, or maybe something you'd like to see in a sequel, whether a scene, or a relationship, or even a new type of character. For example, I didn't really introduce and exchange students in the original SFTF, but most elite boarding schools have them, so I already have a few ideas for some exchange students to stick in the sequel (one of which will actually be a crossover of a very minor character from Medellin who gets the chance to study abroad at Harrison West). Just don't ask me to include "more sex" in my writing. I'll include as much or as little as the story requires. So, last week, I highly recommended reading The Eggman's "A New Life" story, an oldie but goodie. I just finished it today (it's quite long), so for my recommendation for this week, I have to go back to my all-time favorite (yet mysterious and no longer active) author, Dom Luka. You really can't go wrong with any of his stories, but my favorites are the original three: The Ordinary Us The Long Way, and its sequel, In the Fishbowl Desert Dropping You really can't go wrong with a Dom Luka story, and they're looooong, so expect it taking at least several days to get through one, depending on if you're binge-reading (like I do) or only a couple of chapters at a time. Lastly, if you're American, I hope you have an enjoyable, long Labor Day Weekend! I'll be spending most of mine writing, but it'll be nice to have a day off from work on Monday.

Just to keep y'all interested, Chapters 21 & 22 have been more or less "transitional" (and shorter) chapters, giving Nick and Jack a little time to "settle in" as new boyfriends and keep the mood light. Stuff's 'bout to happen in Chapter 23, so buckle yourselves in. Things can't stay peachy forever! 😈 Chapter 23 will be posted this coming Wednesday, September 3rd.

Technically, it was spring. Technically. And yet, here we were – snow still up to our knees in the middle of the quad, like Michigan hadn’t gotten the memo. Spring training was in full swing down in sunny Lakeland, Florida, but up here? The only things that were swinging were my numb arms after a two-hour indoor tennis practice that made my muscles feel like someone had tried to rip them out and beat me with them. I couldn’t wait for real spring to show up. I missed the green of t

Sunday morning. It felt like the weekend had evaporated in a blink. Too fast. Way too fast. Not nearly enough time to process everything that had happened – everything I was feeling. And I was feeling a lot. A lot. I lay in bed for a while, staring at the ceiling, Jack still asleep beside me, his breath soft and even. My chest was tight with something I couldn’t quite name – maybe joy, maybe panic. Probably both. Part of me wanted to wake him just to kiss him again, to confirm that las

Only a few more days, and we may have some answers to some of our questions! (or not) Chapter 21 will be released early on Wednesday morning. We're quickly closing in on the halfway point, which means I need to get my rear in gear and finish the last few bits of "Medellin" so I can get started on the sequel to SFTF (unless y'all want something different?). "Medellin" should keep you busy for a little while while I work on the new stuff.

This is something I researched heavily for the novel. There would be several different avenues open to a middle-class kid like Nick, the most common would be a hybrid "merit" + "financial aid" tuition package, but there are also quite a few full merit-based scholarships, and we know Nick is a very, very smart kid who's worked his little tuckus off to get there.

I just checked my notes, which didn't say anything. Then I checked ChatGPT, which helps me keep everything organized, and it said he "died in a car accident," which doesn't sound right either. I recall reading a story recently in which a kid's police officer dad was shot, but I'm not sure that was the case here. I'll keep checking, though, since it's drawn so much interest. 😉

Maybe we'll find out in the sequel ... 😉

Nick's a scholarship student.

Mr. G stopped by early on Saturday morning to give me my pill. Jack and I were still tangled up in the sheets, our legs knotted together under the blanket. His head was resting on my shoulder, hair warm and mussed from sleep. For a second, as Mr. G stepped into the room, my breath caught – I worried he might say something, that this comfort I was clinging to might be taken the wrong way. But instead, he just looked at us with that steady, understanding expression of his. He ruffled our hair

Swinging for the Fences & Other Musings
LittleBuddhaTW posted a blog entry in Little Buddha's Stone Grotto
It looks like it's been about 16 years since I've written a blog here. I guess I'd forgotten they even existed. So, I'm back writing again after about 20 years, with my second complete novel, Swing for the Fences. Chapter 20 will be released on Saturday morning (August 23rd). After that, only 25 more chapters to go. The chapters in this novel are much shorter than I'm used to writing, hence the large number of chapters. My next novel, which I have almost completed, Medellin, will only have 30 chapters, but the chapters will be much longer, at least twice as long as in SFTF. I'm now starting my second round of revisions/edits of Medellin, which shouldn't take too long, so it should be done soon, and I'll start posting it as soon as SFTF is done. It's definitely a very different type of story than SFTF, and I hope everyone will enjoy it. When I'm done with Medellin, the plan is to get started right away on a sequel to SFTF. Although I haven't gotten nearly as many views, reactions, or emails as I would have liked with the original SFTF 😭, I still have so many more stories about these kids that I need to get them out somehow, so I'm pretty committed to getting it done, depending how the second half of the story goes over. Other than that, I have a couple of other works in some stage of preparation, including one called "What Part of My Body Hurts The Most" and one called "Erection of the Heart." But those are so far down the road, I'm not sure when I'll really get started putting serious effort into them, since SFTF Part 2 will certainly take some time. I might try to throw a short story or two in there, though. We'll see. Anyway, it's a bit of an overcast day down here in the Andes Mountains. I'm hoping for some rain to help cool things down, but I'm not sure I'll get lucky with that. Maybe tonight. I should go do something fun in the jungle or in the mountains this weekend, but between my work (for which I'm also a writer) and my writing hobby, I haven't had a whole lot of extra free time lately. My partner hates it and has been begging to go out, but once I get on a writing tangent, I tend to get lost for a while, because I, too, am anxiously looking forward to seeing what happens with these characters. So, what am I reading now? I really LOVE the classics and haven't read a lot of "newer" stories in a long time, unless someone can point me to something I'd really like. Write now, I'm re-reading "A New Life" by The EggMan, which is available right here on GayAuthors. If you haven't read it yet, I suggest you take a look. It really catches that late 90s to early 2000s vibe of gay fiction that was circulating at the time and was quite popular back then. Anyway, a happy weekend to everyone and happy reading/writing! -
@Chancefdawson A sequel is on my list of things to do, as soon as I finish the novel I'm working on right now, "Medellin," which should be done shortly, and then I'll be back into the world of SFTF. The current SFTF has 45 chapters, so we've still got a ways to go yet, and it won't have a cliffhanger or anything that'll make you go crazy until the sequel comes out. It could absolutely be a stand-alone piece without a sequel (which will probably also be shorter because there are so many other projects I want to work on, too).
