People see what they want to see. They see Ezra as a troubled teen. If he's bruised up it's much easier to think he got in a fight. And Luke has been grooming him for years. When things come out about some guy doing terrible things to kids, the people that know them are often shocked. It's unexpected, even if all the signs were there, but they only see it clearly in hindsight.

The entryway of Joshua’s home held a linoleum landing with stairs going up to Ezra’s left and down to his right. The upstairs looked like it had brown and tan carpeting while the downstairs was blue, but both looked like they were the same style of carpet. There weren't a ton of rooms on my ship for passengers, but there were a few. One was Roki’s play room. Another had a workout set up. There was a free room right next to mine that would be good.
