LOL Someone that age, sufficiently headstrong to insist on feeding themselves, is going to present challenges. I like writing about her dads having to clean after her.

I blame the orange terror for a lot of things, but I think Northman's personality precedes his posting to Mexico. He may be efficient in his job, but his failure to realize CJ's not a typical rookie shows a lack of imagination. Something the ambassadors grasps. If he was really smart he would hitch his wagon to CJ's.

How was Germany? Yes, this chapter, along with next week's, are two of the shortest in the story. While new readers binge and react on the entire series, I end up reading a chapter here and there. Some of the Walls ones blow my mind because of everything I included in them while trying to cover an entire month in one go. I've recovered from that affliction. I now try to limit the number of scenes to those directly connected with one or two events. Not perfect yet, but working on it. Hey, interested in reading the latest draft of what you read before?

Eddie Haskall syndrome is a thing! Kiss your superiors' asses and kick your underlings. Unfortunately, he has yet to realize CJ can kick back. Hard. And the best part's he hasn't had to do it yet! Let's see how long our boy can keep his cool and not snap.

I envisioned Northman as a bureaucrat so narrowly focused on his own little fiefdom, he misses the big picture. Cox, is the opposite. She recognizes an opportunity no matter how it arises.

PIG! Sweaty marines? Where? Good observation about Bezos having CJ's name on a 'hot list.' I imagined that or a great assistant recognizing an opportunity. I toy around with a similar situation in the next book but with CJ being the one with a list of VIPs.

I can imagine her taking a short stroll daily through the embassy, saying hello to people and listening to conversations. She might have heard rumors.

CJ disliked people using their phones for personal purposes while engaged with someone else. A receptionist or cashier doing so would often send him to another line, or if sufficiently exasperated, to another establishment. To avoid doing the same, most of the time he wore a smart-watch to work. Kept silenced, vibrations alerted him to incoming calls, messages, or emails. He could surreptitiously look, and in case of an emergency, take action. Otherwise, he would handle whatever matter came up w

If I'm not mistaken, there's only one person who's read the last three chapters, and they were so surprised they thought I'd pulled a rabbit out of a hat. That led to some modifications in a previous chapter. I'll be able to point at it anda say: "See, I gave you a hint." LOL
