In the wild, animals hide when they are hurt to discourage predators. Humans may have some of that hardwired into us. CJ will have to overcome our nature if he wants to succeed. That letter may have been the first step.

Because of your comments, I end up reading chapter sections and certain comments again. Recently, I smiled when someone praised me for correctly predicting the Venezuelan economic crisis. I'm glad my fears about a second Trump term were unfounded. Hell, I a;ready mentioned President Biden in the story I'm currently writing. You think I'm happy? LOL

CJ is definitely not a pacifist. He'll turn the other cheek after getting in a couple of hits. As he grows older, he may rely on words more often than fists, but threaten someone he loves and shit will get serious.

Rick and Jared are goners. Gus and Marta may not be far behind. I love how international jet setters interact with small town real people. But beware Hungarians carrying champagne, Zoltan's reaction to bratwurst suggest he's humoring the others out of politeness, but the setting and circumstances aren't exactly to his liking.

This was a tough chapter to read. The pain was overwhelming. Sawyer and Jimmy supporting each other shows how strong their bond has grown in such a short time. Can't wait until Fergus gets taken down!

Guarantee no drinking problem. One of the first GA people to read Summer's opening chapter, objected when I had Cesar give CJ a beer when he asked for one. They claimed no parent would do that. They were supposed to edit the story, but I found someone else instead. CJ's alcohol use is loosely based on personal experience and how my brother raised his daughters, we were all allowed to drink early. I believe if we're less rigid, we demistify alcohol, and probably would prevent many a problem. With Owen's family owning a winery, vino will feature prominently in future chapters and stories.

You think something nefarious is imminent? I wouldn't mess with Brett or anyone he cares about. Don't Marines know a way or two to eliminate threats. CJ's had conversations about HIV/AIDS with his physician and I'm certain with his fathers. Talking to someone living with the virus gives him a different perspective. The dads will buy him condoms and get him on Prep if that's what's needed.

We may need to do a close inspection. Rick's such a good person it's heartbreaking how between Rita and Senior, he lives in fear of their calls. He's earned the right to a nice afternoon. Jared being tongue tied, much the same as Rick, was great. Let's hope they both get what they want. The elder Toczas are inching closer to the pit Rita resides in. I have a feeling they wouldn't approve of the afternoon's events.

It was meant as a cliffhanger. Mann was probably wringing his hands and cackling when he posted the chapter. No wonder Jimmy's such a hot mess; I'm sure the back story will be interesting. About the omegas... There goes my hope of finding one and havin a dedicated bottom around.

Unless it's CJ! A few years ago I had a conversation with an elderly relative about no President had ever been perfect. She remembered and praised FDR. I reminded her of the shameful rounding up of Japanese-Americans. A degree of normalcy, a return to past practices will be welcome.

That's most likely true! Air Force officers do tend to be uppity. LOL However, you have to remember this conversation and the events around it take place in late 2020 when President Trump has everyone running scared due to his erratic behavior. At the time Will and Ritch are plotting their Thanksgiving plans, Biden has won the election, but chaos continues to reign. Mark Esper has recently been dismissed as SecDef, and I suspect most military officers are in disbelief, and crave a degree of normalcy from a new Commander in Chief.

I feel so sorry for Rick. He's miserable, trapped in a miserable life, surrounded by mostly miserable people. It's a wonder he gets up each morning. Let's hope a sexy piano player, with an assist from two bikers, gives him the courage to strike back at those who push him around. Once again, Parker, I marvel at your patience. The story's pace matches life in Eagle Lake. I'm jealous. I can't slow down my writing as well as you do.

I know, right? The story's not entirely written yet, but @Parker Owens, @WolfM, and @Mann Ramblings have beta read and edited enough chapters there shouldn't be a break in weekly postings. Now, if you excuse me, I have to write the section about Ritch getting his graduation ring. Not sure if that's a thing in the UK, but you'll get to read how they do it at the Air Force Academy.
