Yes, I know. This book was written before Shadow. So I do need to go back and re-edit this one at some point. But after the brutal slog that was Duty, my head needs a little down time

To be fair, Peter didn't even exist at the time I wrote that book, or the book before. Peter came in the second book of the series which I actually wrote just after writing this one. So It was third or fourth book I actually wrote, I am struggling to remember the exact times I wrote them. I know this book was written just before Shadow was written. Shadow with West's story... man I had to stop writing Recourse to write shadow because I realized one of the key characters needed a back story, and that tied in to Peter's story and yeah... Books evolve, and let me tell you concurrently writing three books at once was not a fun time

And it is finished. Twenty four hours of work, two chapters lost to the damn internet void... but I got there.

Finished... that was... hard. But I think I have gotten the story back to some semblance of... a Carter book. Take it easy on me, again, it was the first book I ever wrote and it shows.

Some good points, it was probably one of the weakest points in the book. I was approaching it more from an International Charity Organization but can see how I failed to express that in the text. I think I have fixed it now, to tighten that rather frayed story thread.

working on Chapter 21now. Nearly there.

Again I can feel it. I lacked a certain skill level to get this right. I've been bashing my head on this chapter for the last few hours. I know what I wanted and was trying to say, but it's like beating a piece of metal that's been in a car crash back into shape. No amount of pounding at it is ever going to get it to look right.

right up to Chapter 15 revised. Still working on more but have been up all night and I need to rest. I will get the last 8 chapters done later today.

Yes you are right on the mother front, fixed it. (again this was written before Micheline was an actual character of her own. So discrepancies and proto-characters that just fit when this all became a series)

This character and his #@$#%@# wife. What the heck was I thinking when I wrote these absolute miseries of people. Rafik and Farah, as I recall were two people I knew, heavily edited and kind of defined 2001-2002 for me when I was living in Toronto. Toxic people feeding into an unhealthy situation. Vampires in their own right, draining me by what they thought was friendship.

Working on it. Put this whole book down to sixteen year old me, twenty three year old me, and twenty five year old me not knowing what the heck I was doing... a whole bunch of laziness on the part of the editor... and me trusting... blindly... that no one would notice Franken-book rising from the grave and eating some of my best work for breakfast.

FINALLY fixed the beep beep beep -ing format issue. <- Lesson to all you mushroom first time writers out there. Don't edit stuff after a six hour train journey and no sleep... and copy-paste EVERYthing into a seperate word processor. I lost the first two chapters of this revision, TWICE to the evil page-back button on the mouse and the ether.

I am revising this ... messy messy book. Please bear with me as I work on it. It's going to take a lot of work to bang this mess into something... something that it should have been. I am sorry, again, but the first chapter has been revised. I will work on more and post here as I complete chapter edits. Each revised chapter will contain a note "Revision 2025" To indicate it's updated. Thank gods the book isn't very long.
