He was another of the oneshot characters that just took on a life of his own. Andrew needed someone to handle the technical side of things, and given his actions in Recourse where he saved Andrew's life, he sort of earned it. So I needed to show how he went from where he ended in that book, to where we find him (shuffling around the residence in Canada House wearing bunny slippers and completely comfortable in Will's space as part of the family) Still need to get him a long term partner, poor guy has the WORST track record for dating in my books. (Next to Jimmy from Tales of course ) -

The Fairmont Royal York Hotel was a towering, limestone monument to old-world opulence, sitting like a fortress directly across from Union Station on Front Street. Built in the late 1920s, its imposing, chateau-style architecture was a stark contrast to the modern glass-and-steel skyscrapers that dominated the rest of the Toronto skyline. It was a place of sweeping staircases, hand-painted ceilings, and deep, labyrinthine corridors. It was also a place with entirely too many cameras.

Ignis likes this story. I know it isn't Thursday, but here's a short anyway

A spoiled princess, a dragon with zero patience, and a sorcerer who just wants to read his gardening books in peace—it's a classic fairy tale setup. Until a handsome knight storms the tower, ready to fight for true love. The princess has her bags packed, the dragon is rolling his eyes, and absolutely no one is prepared for what happens next.

The Prince and the Sorcerer The highest tower of the dread fortress of Mór-Ríoghain was currently a disaster of crushed taffeta, spilled lavender perfume, and unbridled entitlement. Princess Geneviève, a young woman whose diamond-encrusted tiara sat slightly askew from the sheer, exhausting effort of being put out, was directing a harried goblin servant with the imperiousness of a military general commanding a siege. “No, no, the emerald traveling cloak, you absolute imbecil

The Jeep Willys was a vintage, open-air model, painted a bright, aggressively cheerful shade of canary yellow. It had likely been intended for wealthy tourists to rent for scenic, wind-in-your-hair drives along the coastal cliffs. Instead, it was currently rolling down the resort's service paths at exactly four miles per hour, serving as the mobile command center for the most highly structured, ruthlessly efficient supernatural labor dispute in recorded history. Matt sat in the drive -
There we go, just finished this book today. 20 chapters in total. I am already formulating one set in 1996, 2008, 2012 and 2026 (multiple time points. Focusing on Peter and Tommy the two adoptees of the family and their very specific relationship to the Carter family.) The working title is CARTER'S WARD

Poor Peter, always getting dragged into bullshit by Will, Andrew or West. I think he's at a point now where he just knows he's going to end up getting beaten up, stuffed into the trunks of cars, or dangled precariously over danger like a pinata.

Good Morning

The walk from the industrial east end to Spadina Avenue took twenty brutal minutes. The temperature had plummeted, turning the damp Toronto evening into a razor-sharp, freezing onslaught. The wind howled off Lake Ontario, carrying with it a fine, driving sleet that stung exposed skin and rapidly turned the city sidewalks into treacherous sheets of black ice. Andrew Carter felt none of the cold. His entire nervous system was running on the hyper-focused, lethal clarity of a Section Commande

thanks, and Will is the Deputy Leader of the party officially, and acting as the Interim Leader... I should be more clear with that.

Matt proving, yet again, that he's pretty awesome with kids. -
The premium villa at the Emerald Vista Resort and Spa had been unceremoniously transformed from a bastion of tropical luxury into a highly classified, moderately sticky, heavily fortified command center. Matt sat cross-legged on the cool tile floor of the living room, wearing neon pineapple board shorts and a look of profound, unwavering dedication to his newly appointed role. In his left ear, the small, pulsing, bioluminescent shell he had lovingly named Derek rested securely, broadcastin

OK so the political reality behind all of this. Recourse was written in Winter 2005/2006 with the collapse of Paul Martin's government. The man was awful, lied, cheated, corrupt... he earned his utter destruction. The Liberal party was plunged into a horrific mess that saw Stephen Harper (a proto trump) rise to power with his Reform-Conservative government. The Liberal Party Leadership contest was led by a man called Ignatieff, an outsider, elitist academic with no clue what being a political party leader actually meant. This was NOT the lowest point for the Liberal Party, that hit in 2011 after a second disasterous election in which the Liberal Party was blasted back to the stone age... dropping to only a mere 34 seats. Dragging it to Third in Parliament for the first time in Canadian History... It was a disaster. It took a long time, 2015, until they were able to win an election again. 10 years in the Wilderness. Then Trudeau rebuilt the party and retook the country (just in time. Stephen Harper was in the process, literally, or RENAMING the Canadian Government to " Stephen Harper's Government of Canada. " (And you thought the Kennedy Center was bad) Harper's ego was ... astounding. Will's next ten years are ROUGH politically. He's going to lose more than he wins, and it is going to be a struggle. But we know he eventually becomes Prime Minister in our timeline in Winter 2019. But getting there, that's a trip and a half.

I wanted, with this one, to show the fall out of what happened after Recourse. It devastated Will's political party, leaving a 26 year old Will running a party that has lost it's leadership, the trust of the voters, and its direction. Will is now the Kingmaker, unable to take the throne himself, he must care-take, and ensure that the next person is the right person to lead. He is in for one of the roughest periods of his early career.

The alarm clock on Will Carter’s nightstand went off at exactly four-thirty in the morning, a harsh, electronic blare that sliced through the quiet dark of the Wellesley townhouse. Will was awake before the second beep. In truth, he hadn't really slept at all. He reached out with his left hand, fumbling blindly in the dark to hit the snooze button, careful not to twist his torso. The dull, relentless ache in his right shoulder was a constant, waking nightmare. The high-caliber bullet he ha
