Apart from the fact this is a story and not a real life retelling, it should be noted that in England and Wales prior to 1967 there was no legal recognition of 'male rape', so definitely not in the modern day sense in the 18th century. In fact males as victims of rape was not recognised until 1994 in England and Wales.
Just a hint - for those taking this very seriously as more than just a story set in historical times, do not read The Smell of Apples by Mark Behr, or Alexanders Choice purportedly by Edmund Marlowe (possibly a pseudonym of a pseudonym) or The Second Footman by Jasper Barry.
