  1. Aw, thanks, Craig! (blush) It's been a fun story to tell--and you've not seen the last of these guys; I've grown attached to 'em, and they're just to much fun to leave behind for long! THANK YOU for hanging with the story!
  2. Thank you so very much, Avid! Great to have you here for the tale!
  3. Epilogue It’s been six months since I received the Medal of Honor and had all the attention of Washington and the Today show. Clayton and I just celebrated our first year together. It’s been a helluva ride. I hung around the Today show for the rest of that morning. Got to sample a chef’s Italian dish, and ham it up. Clayton said even Armour would have been proud. Stayed for the last part of Today, with Hoda Kotb and Kathy Lee Gifford. Since Hoda is from New Orleans, she played up t
  4. Thanks, Zenith--glad the emotion is coming through. It's a remarkable time in both our heroes' lives. THANK YOU for the kind words!
  5. Thanks, Parker! Both are heroes are far more complex than they first appear (or my simple writing can convey!)--glad that's coming through. The trip to DC will be a turning point from a number of perspectives. THANK YOU for the kind words ... and for sticking with the tale!
  6. Bart, THANK YOU so much for the kind comments! I'm really glad you enjoyed the tale, including the offbeat humor! *grin Yup, it's the first story I ever wrote--but you'll see Joe and Rex again (briefly) in "Landfall", and with a little more detail, in my newest story, "Lion's Lair". They're great guys--and one of the nicest compliments I can receive is when someone finds the characters and dialogue to be "real". THANK YOU again for the comments--You made my day!
  7. Thanks, Skinny! As I mentioned to Carlos, Willie seemed like a good choice for interviewer; and, noticed a couple of interviews he did this week, and they're all outside--one on a park bench! Glad you're sticking with the tale! THANK YOU!
  8. Means a lot to me that the writing can make a talent like you both laugh ad cry! And, Willie seemed like the perfect match for Ryan--about the same age, laid-back, cool, good guy. THANK YOU for the comments!
  9. Thanks! Glad you liked it!
  10. Always a pleasure to get your comments Daddy...but why wait? After all, I have friends who do dessert before the main course--so don't wait! THANK YOU for the kind words!
  11. Aw, thanks, Mike! It's a fun story to tell.
  12. Jeff, I'm so very glad you're enjoying the tale--and you're really kind with your comments! I can't think of a nicer compliment that to say the characters and their dialogue are "real"! THANK YOU!
  13. Tony, THANK YOU for the high praise--it means a lot! Glad you're "into" the tale. Again, I appreciate your sticking with the story!
  14. Thanks for the kind words, Parker! I'm sure with that kind of honor, elation and disbelief are rampant. And you're right--it's a BIG step for Clayton to review his moneyied history. THANK YOU for the comments!
  15. Parker, just glad you've stuck with the story...and see you've gotten at least another chapter under your belt. It IS a FEEL GOOD chapter...and yet, the money conversation needed to take place. (Must studies show that the number one issue couples have is money!) It'll only make the relationship stronger! Thanks for hanging with me on this tale!
  16. The Presidential luncheon went well. Everyone was friendly, and I came out thinking they’re all overplaying me. I’m just a Marine who did my job, despite all the really nice shit they all said about me. I mentioned it to the President between the Luncheon and the awards ceremony. He just smiled and said, “Sargent, it’s been my honor to present this Medal to a few recipients during my term. Every one of them felt exactly the way you do—that they’re nothing special, that they’ve just been doin
  17. Glad you're here! You're gonna find lots to like, and great folks, too! Welcome! Glad you're here! Get ready for fun! You'll find lots to like here, Wen....friendly folks, and plenty to read--you're gonna need to allocate more time for that! Glad you're here!
  18. Glad you're enjoying the tale! Perhaps I should revise the chapter--perhaps it truly hit Barry that the humble Marine Ryan actually saved his live--the holdup at the bar could have turned out far differently without the courage of Ryan and Joe! Thus the intense emotion....what do ya think? Regardless, glad you're enjoying the narrative--there's more to come! Thanks for the comments!
  19. Thanks! I suspect of Clayton Hadnt handled it as a low-key approach, the responses might have been different. Plus, they've all had a chance to get used to the idea he "has money", even if they may only now be aware (to some extent) of just how wealthy he really is. Better yet, the level of friendship they've built make acceptance easier. Thank you for the comments, buddy!
  20. Glad ya enjoyed the chapter! Obviously Dave would have security clearance due to his position as FBI manager in New Orleans; Barry's past is effectively a clean slate with his new identity. Thanks for hanging with the tale...I appreciate it!
  21. The ceremony is the next chapter...and I'm hoping you'll enjoy it, too. As for the jet, we'd all love that! Here's the link to their site, with details about the "basic" jet--which is customized by each owners' options selection: http://www.gulfstream.com/aircraft/gulfstream-g650er Nose around the site...it's fun! And, if you'd like to check out the hotel Clayton and Ryan are at: http://www.hayadams.com/ It's a great hotel!
  22. Daddy, that's high praise--to say you can see it all. THANK YOU!
  23. Aw, THANK YOU! Glad it hit the right notes with you!
  24. Thanks for the comments, Tim! Think you're right--although both Dave and Barry have settled into a comfortable routine publicly, Dave's training is keeping either of them from being too visible; a good thing! Clayton's trust in his friends responses to his history and wealth were also gratifying. Yeah, it took some courage for him to "come out" as rich, but Ryan's support of him and trusting his judgment about the quality of his friends made a difference. Ryan, bless his heart, is still obviously struggling with being in the public eye--after all, he's just a Nebraska farm boy/Marine--but he seems to be handling it ok. Lots of pressure has gotta go with a spotlight like that! THANK yOU for the comments!
  25. THANK YOU for the kind words! Yup, it's entirely a fictional tale--and yet there are real men and women service members out there who raise the bar everyday--and make us all want to be "more and better". THEY are the real heroes, and should be on every newscast. Yeah, guess that makes me (among other things) a patriot. Thanks again for reading and commenting! And, there's more to come....
