Thanks for responding here! OMG Road will be great fuel for future stories. I hadn't thought about that for years. My dad actually used to live where that road lets out in Central City, had a real estate office in Black Hawk and had been County Commissioner of Gilpin County back in the 1970s. Thanks for bringing back those memories.

High School Reunion In California we got the right to marry legally just over one month ago, June 16, 2008. That milestone was part of what urged me to attend this 50th reunion celebration of my High School class. For most of the rest of the world and in my little home town in the mountains of Colorado, gay was still so off the beaten path that a lot of the town’s people didn’t even know that the reason Matthew Shepherd had been beaten to death was because of the homophobia of his torturers.

Coming out to his entire 50th reunion high school class was oddly facilitated by his high school girl friend.

We never outgrow the raw emotion created by a few remarkable instants of childhood rejection and that sense of having been "made" a fool. Only with maturity can we reach the ultimate simplicity of being who we are with less (I won't say no) regard for the opinions of others as long as our On my way! motives are pure. This story reminded me of a number of those incidents and that youth is not all a bed of roses. Thanks.
