    Chapter 43

Arriving at the hospital, “You go on ahead, take a picture with your camera and send it to us. We have a meeting to go to and possibly a pick-up.” I entered the hospital and found my way to the secured area. Pressing my finger on the pad, the green light came on, and I entered the kid’s room. I noticed some of the monitoring machines were removed, and he had only one intravenous line. It looked like he was improving. His color was good, and he appeared to be sleeping. I took his facial pictu

Yes wait for the next chapter. The man was very rich and was powerful, I think; Not necessarily, they need a picture with bruises etc. In a court they can present the photos as evidence

    Chapter 42

Walking to the infirmary, Pat came to us and said a man in the dining hall wanted to see me. “Thanks, Pat. Tony and I’ll go and speak to him.” I rubbed Pat’s head; I try to touch the kids in a non-threatening manner. They need to understand that it isn’t always in a mean or degrading way if an adult touches them. When we entered the dining hall, I was surprised to see Aaron Burton. “Hello Aaron, to what do I deserve this visit. Come and join us in a cup of coffee and we can go to my offi

    Chapter 39

Usually a hospital provides minimum care until a next of kin is located. This was a "street boy" the issue of payment is important to a hospital in a large city. I have heard the words before , "Who is financially responsible?"

    Chapter 41

Every day for a week, I’d go to the hospital right after the kids had breakfast. The plastic lion was mounted on the wall over the buffet. For the kids, things were getting back to normal. The boy in the hospital was healing but still had not gain consciousness. Dr. Franks indicated that it would take time for his body to heal, but he expected him to reach consciousness at any time. The next morning, Aaron Burton had called and wanted to talk. Abe said that 3B was finished and I should check

    Chapter 40

“I want to thank you all for being here for me; I guess we all need someone. I need you as much as you need me. The child that Murray and O’Shea rescued because of Jabir is in the hospital. He’s very sick, but the doctors are doing their best, I’ll go and check on him today, and I’ll tell you how he’s doing, ok?” You could see the heads nodding up and down. Bubba brought me another cup of coffee and climb up on my lap. I gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Pat came over and hugged me als

    Chapter 39

The sadness that these kids have to go through in my story for some are very real. I have met some of them, they have led ton this story. I also wrote this story in anger, I a angry that multi-millionaires who could create a Sanctuary on their own don't. I guess the press wouldn't put their picture in the paper and they wouldn't receive a pat on the back;.

    Chapter 39

Thank you. But like you a remember not being able to wait for the next serial of a beloved radio show. Do not feel uneasy about the tears. Even though I wrote this story there are times as I think about what I wrote I get angry, and my eyes water as well. I would dedicate this story to a young man I met on the streets of NYC. Unfortunately I never got his name, and I never saw him again on my future trips.

    Chapter 39

I called dad and left a message with his secretary. “She said she’d tell him as soon as he’s finished with the case before him.” I told Murray and O’Shea, “You should go out to the house to make sure nothing is disturbed.” They left without drinking their coffee. Tony looked at me, “I’ve got that feeling again. I hope that boy is still alive.” Tony looked at me, quizzically. “He has already contacted his lawyer, and I’m sure he’s probably in on it as well. They’ll try and move that kid, and
