    Chapter 11

I wanted to build a patio outback. The wooden porch needed to be replaced. I had contacted a man who had done several small jobs in the neighborhood. We were going to meet at three, so I could show him what I wanted done. “Geno, get a snack for now. We’ll go for a late lunch when I’m finishing showing Signore Gianna what I want done in the back.” It was almost 4 when we went to Bianchi’s restaurant on the dock. Almost like he knew we’d be there, our Captain was sitting in front of the re

    Chapter 10

I'm beginning to think my readers would like to read a book rather than a story. I'm sorry but I write short stories,. I'll give it some thought and maybe consider writing a sequel to some of my short stories. I feel very lucky to have you all asking for more.

Everyone knows that old fishermen never go to Davy Jones's locker without a boat. I'm sure he's around, probably missing his boat.

    Chapter 10

As the boys finished school and became productive members of society, I was left alone again. Not that I minded, the boys kept in contact. I went to their weddings, all except Geno. He wasn’t interested in women or men. He was happy teaching at the University. If I said something about him not having a girlfriend, his response was “et tu”. When Geno wasn’t teaching, we would travel together, there were other places in Europe besides Italy, and we enjoyed our breaks. One thing we never lost s

It was my understanding that as long as the author was gay, any story was acceptable. Yes there isn't any gay character in this story. The theme was adoption of street boys, regardless of their sexuality

    Chapter 9

Thanksgiving, Mom had prepared a huge turkey with all of the trimmings. I explained why we celebrated Thanksgiving. I found a few history books in the attic and gave them to the boys to read. They were in English; my job was to help translate to Italian so they’d get the gist of what they were reading. Then we had Christmas shopping to do. Sis helped by taking one of the boys with Geno as a translator. I took the other boys and explained what we were doing. When the boy Sis had finished,

From walking the streets begging, to being adopted, have a nice home, enough food, being safe and now flying to the US and having grandparents. This is way beyond what they hoped for or expected walking the streets.

I can understand the derivation of that term. It is my understanding that the Maori are often "nesting" as it is their custom, or was their custom.

    Chapter 8

That evening at dinner, I told the boys that I would adopt them, and they must commit to going to school. That wasn’t a difficult situation since the young man I hired to look after them had already primed them on going to school. It didn’t take long for the adoption to be approved. Again the newspapers picked up the story as a human interest story. The people I worked with gave me some kidding, but it was all in fun. Summer came with August being vacation month. Something Europe did tha
