I'm sure that Evie had some influence in this. Alex was a close friend to Donnie. I suppose family gatherings, Paul was quite vocal. Evie was on good terms with her parents, well was not so sure now.

We left and took a leisure stroll to Luigi’s. We got there early, this gave me time to chat with Jimmy and to get my kiss. I thought if Donnie and Angela did get married confusion would really reign in my family. No, there was no mention of Alex's mother. But judging from Alex's comments his mother was not his friend otherwise he would have been more reluctant to the idea of living with Pete. In most families I'm familiar with, the boys gravitate to the mothers as the girls gravitate to the father.

Yes, the apartment is finished, Pete has a new lawyer, Alex is now permanently part of Pete and Jimmy's family. It looks like their success has reached some of their friends. Life has become somewhat of a routine, a happy routine.

It took six months to get the apartment finished. Fred did get Paul’s signature relinquishing all rights to Alex, Alex was enrolled in the same school with the boys, Jimmy was happy therefore, I was happy. Now with more room, each of the boys had their own bedroom, but many mornings I’d find Bobby and Butch in the same bed. I invited Evie and her family to join us for New Years and they accepted. This is just a story, if I decided to turn this into a book, I'll be glad to use these questions and comments to add pages to the book. But just some explanations, Paul fought with Alex, per Evie, and this was a way to get rid of him. Can a father hate his son, yes and there are many examples of that, vis a vis Bobby. I'm sure Paul thought that Alex would be a problem for Pete and he hoped that Alex would torment Pete as much as he fought with Paul. Strange family dynamics but not unusual in a family when one partner is over bearing

In a relationship with Paul, any woman would have to take a back seat. Evidently she agrees with Paul and Alex has no one to fight his battles

Rather than staying with his sister in a negative environment, he decided he needed a break, A lung full of clean air and that only could be found at home. His relationship with his sister and younger brother is fine, as you will see.
