Boston Burbs From Alan: If I lived in Massachusetts, and I were closer your age, it would be fun to stand nearly eye-to-eye and see what happens. But I’m a dozen years older, and guys your age seem to think about being gay in a way I wasn’t raised to. Hope you find someone. You’re a good-looking man. From BostonBurbs: I know what you’re saying, but we’re probably not that far apart in our thinking. And it’s a shame we’re so far apart otherwise because I think you’re handsome too. From A

Iowa City From Alan: You’re cute from what I can see. Unfortunately, at least for you, I’m happily married. I flirt, but – lately – I mainly seem to keep my clothes on. Here’s what I look like neatly dressed. From Iowa City: NO fun here today, but getting work done. And happily married is good. Congrats! From Alan: Well, think of me tonight when you’re doing whatever you do to amuse yourself. Of course, if you’re having actual sex with another guy, then you don’t need to think abo

Hook-Up From Hook-Up: Nice description. I like them simple. Some self pics from me, and I would appreciate a few body shots from you. From Alan: I don’t usually take or send naked photos of myself. But here’s a picture of me in my suit. That’s what I’m comfortable sharing. From Hook-Up: And what a lovely photo it is! Would love to meet you when I’m back. Currently, I’m away on business, and it’s a freezing 19 degrees. But warmth and sunshine have been promised. Back home Tue

Marshall From Alan: Just saying hello again. The problem doesn’t seem a lack of interest on either of our parts, just a lack of an available place to play. From Marshall: Yes, the problem is definitely not interest, but location – what to do? You could, however, keep me posted if something changes. From Alan: If I trusted motels, that would solve our problem. But I don’t find them safe places to play. Hope you’re finding interesting guys to be around. From Marshall: Not lately.

Ken From Ken: That was beyond fun. Thank you. You have a talent that is just amazing. I have not had so many orgasms over that long a time period ever. At the end, as you were milking me, my body was shivering from waves and waves of orgasms. Damn! I felt so tight and tense through every muscle in my body. Unfuckingbelieveable! Thank you so much, again and again. I’m definitely interested in that experience with you again. When you lay on me and didn’t allow me to move, it was als

Fumbling From Fumbling: Would like to learn more, and now able too From Alan: Just get divorced, did you? That’s always a shock. But no worse than having sex with a guy you’ll never see again. Hope you’re having fun. From Fumbling: LOL does it show... You’re a handsome man that I wouldn’t mind getting screwed by. From Alan: Well, you’ve been online for almost 6 years now, and some guys never update their information, so your divorce could be long past. But there’s a certain urg

Farmer From Farmer: Damn!!! How R U doin? From Alan: Great. I like your new photo. But didn’t you used to have a picture of yourself sitting on that to iron bed that’s behind you now? Wearing some skimpy red briefs? From Farmer: Yeah, but I put on some weight since then and didn’t want to be lying. From Alan: Well, I’m really flirting with you anyway. You know how far apart we live, practically opposite ends of the state. Probably the only chance of us seeing each other is online.

Yeah, that story is on one of my web pages. And I don't honestly know the number of chapters. The series has at least 3 books, and each book introduces maybe 40 guys, one-at-a-time. There's no plot, just Alan and his adventures. He changes a bit over the course of the books, but very, very slowly. Mostly, he's having fun, and we're along for the ride.

Alan Damshroeder 42. 6'-1" 180. Blond-brown hair. Light blue eyes. Clean shaven. Athletic. Well-educated. Married. Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The adventures in sex and friendship, online and off, of Alan Damshroeder, a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, high school teacher. Says Alan, "Sometimes I think it takes a triumvirate of saints to keep me out of trouble." Note: These stories are written as exchanged e-mails and reading this way is an acquired taste.

To me, the most important thing about that last chapter, and the reason it exists, is to say that Harry has stopped dating and, consequently, sleeping around. On some level, he really is afraid that he can't stop what's become an accustomed behavior. The other thing the chapter does is shortcut Harry and Mike's rather uneventful, year-or-so long dating process -- until Harry decides he's comfortable enough to move into Mike's house. Because it's so ordinary, there's just nothing interesting to write about.
-
Nah, you were just expecting that the last chapter would be the last guy. It goes back to "Happy families are all alike" -- you don't really need the details of Harry and Mike's courtship, relationship, and eventual marriage -- since they do live in Massachusetts. As for how Mike will find time for Harry, and how Harry will find time for Mike: they will because they want to. Each is that important to the other. They complement each other. They balance each other. They both want to be married, and in love, and part of someone's life outside their own.
-
No, Harry's worried that he's gotten so used to dating and the casual sleeping around that he's grown used to as part of that, that he won't be able to stop now that he's met the man he really wants to be with. But he will, because he's Harry, and he has that kind of discipline. The next book -- which may not be the next book I post here because it's very long -- is collectively called "A Triumvirate of Saints," and it's about a very happily married man, with kids, who doesn't quit his sexual explorations and just keeps them extremely partitioned off. I've explored this a bit before, in "The Pendleton Omens," but that book started after a divorce.
-
I'm simply not worried about it. They've each met their equals and their matches. I suppose this is partly because my model of marriage is of two people with busy, faceted lives who use each other as a safe, sure, and constant home base. Of course, if they decided to have or adopt kids... But that's another book, and one I'm not prepared to write -- Harry and Mike and Ted and Alice.
-
Mike was and is the one. For what little control any writer has of the world he or she creates, Harry and Mike will stay together happily through their very long lives. They're both intelligent, caring, and complicated guys, who are also flexible enough to handle both each other's and life's unexpectedness.

Kurt When the whistling began, Harry could barely believe what he heard. It was almost midnight. He was still packing. Everything would be moved the next day. After ten, he’d stopped using the stairs and had stayed in the apartment. He didn’t want to wake anyone. Now he had to go outside. As he opened the door, Kurt appeared. Harry recognized him immediately. Kurt wasn’t as fast. “Does Harry still live here?” “Hi,” Harry said. “How’ve you been?” “I t

Mike Harry nearly didn’t answer Mike’s ad. The ad was interesting, but ambiguous. It mentioned relationships, not age, which usually meant the guy was fifty. Often the voice mail offered more, but this one was as guarded. “I’m thirty-four,” Harry said in response. “Fairly good-looking. Confident. I’m an architect. If you’re near my age and interested, please call.” Then Harry forgot to leave his phone number and had to call back. “Hard to admit I said, ‘confident’ he

Yep, things get tied up just in time for Christmas.
-
Almost home. No more "Damns." Whew.
-
Yep, well, Harry manages it in well under 100, since there are only 18 chapters in this book.

He will, and he will.

Josh And Josh seemed the one. Safe. Cautious. Maybe a little too extreme. But Harry figured anything opposite what he’d been doing couldn’t be bad. They met through Josh’s ad. Harry had promised himself not to run any, but he still scanned the paper weekly and listened to voice mail. Occasionally, he checked the Internet. He’d noticed Josh’s ad, saw it a second time, then finally answered during the fourth week. When Josh didn’t call, Harry figured it was too late. Three

Glad you liked that. People like Dennis are a tricky breed. Some of them are toxic, but some are innocently harmless. What saves Dennis is he's young and knows he's in an enjoyable phase he'll eventually grow out of. And he knows how much he values Harry.
-
I think Harry will be fine with that. One of the good things that's come with all of Harry's dating, on top of expanding his experience, is his new friends: Gordon, Ryan, Ron, Geoff, Dennis. Harry's always had lots of friends, but never gay men before.
-
Dennis Dennis seemed even better than Jimmy and Geoff, and Harry didn’t meet him through an ad. He first noticed Dennis the way he noticed any number of good-looking guys: by simply acknowledging to himself that there was an attractive man. He expected nothing of it. Usually, the guy was straight. Often, Harry never saw him again. Dennis was at a fundraising party. He and Harry never spoke, and Harry never would have thought of him again, let alone known his name, if he hadn’t
