Aw, thanks, @Onim! I was definitely nervous about writing this chapter... really glad you thought it worked!

Glad you enjoyed the chapter, Chris! Apologies for taking a little longer than usual to get this chapter out... In my defence, work has been really busy of late and I'm in the middle of planning a wedding as well, so it's been hard to find the time to write...! Anyway, yes, Jake and Andy definitely seem to be off to a great start, don't they? ... The end of the story is actually very near though: in the next chapter (... quite possibly the last...) we'll be jumping ahead in time to see what the future holds for them both... I really hope you've all enjoyed the story so far, and thanks to everyone who has been so supportive and written words of encouragement; it means a lot.

The day had been perfect and I wasn’t ready for it to end, so after the drive back to Bath and dropping off Sam and Matt in town, I didn’t hesitate when Jake asked if I fancied heading back to his place for the evening; his suggestion of a movie and a glass or two of wine cuddled up on his sofa sounded like a great way to end the day. I held on to Jake’s arm for balance as we toed off our shoes in the entrance to his flat. I smiled up at him. “Thanks again for today, Jake. It really has bee

Thanks for reading and commenting, jagboi. Bath really is a beautiful city - I miss it very much now that I no longer live there, but I've travelled back many times since graduating from the university. I hope you get the chance to visit the UK again soon!

Thanks, Dyaus! And thanks for your encouraging words! Really glad you're enjoying the story.

Glad you enjoyed the chapter, glennish! And thanks for commenting! It makes the writing all worthwhile to know you guys appreciate it Ha! Too true, deville! That's why we need a bit of escapism like this, isn't it?! I'm definitely a sucker for the romantic moments, too! Thanks for sticking with the story, mfa607! Aw, thanks, Chris! Really glad to hear you're still enjoying the story... I appear to have lost a couple of my followers with this chapter though... I guess you can't please 'em all, hey? Wow! Sounds like you're cooking up your own novella there, droughtquake! Thanks for the 'Like'! And thanks for reading!

The day had started out wet and miserable, so I’d spent the morning wrapped up in my duvet watching mind-numbing daytime TV from the comfort of my warm bed, wondering if the fact that I still hadn’t heard anything from Jake was a bad sign, and ultimately fearing the worst. I was trying to muster up the energy to head out and join a queue that was likely to be so epic in scale that it was visible from space with the naked eye – just to get a stupid photo taken for my university library card – but

Yeah, I really feel for Jake at the moment... I don't know about you, but I'm not convinced his coming out had anything to do with being brave or making progress; I think it might just have slipped out in the heat of the moment. Hopefully he'll see it as a positive thing though...

Isn't that what keeps you guys coming back for more...?

Ha! Yep, you're definitely weird! ... Star Wars definitely wasn't where my head was at when writing the chapter!! Hope you're still enjoying the story!

Poor Jake definitely seems to be wearing blinkers, doesn't he? Here's hoping Sam gets in there quick...!

After fighting my way to the exit and scrambling up the stairs from the club, I frantically scanned the surrounding area for any sign of Jake when I reached street level, but he was nowhere to be seen. Everywhere I looked, all I could see was groups of students stumbling from one place to the next. They all looked so happy and carefree, and it was at complete odds with how ill at ease I felt – my stomach was in knots and my heart was in my mouth. Not wanting to go on a wild goose chase, I fished

Having had yet another fitful night’s sleep for the second day in a row, I’d been like a bear with a sore head ever since Matt had knocked on my door that morning. I ended up asking him to join me for a run around the sports fields at the edge of campus; I desperately needed to burn off some of the anxious energy from the previous evening’s events, and running had always worked for me in the past. We seemed to be experiencing something of an Indian summer that day, and my workout gear was plaste

Thank you so much for your kind words! It's really rewarding to know that people are enjoying the story... I promise I'll post the chapters as soon as they're ready... and as someone who knows all too well the agony of being left in limbo when stories on here seem to fall by the wayside, I also promise this one will get finished!!

Hehe! Yep, good old rhyming slang! These loose ends are slowly adding up, huh? Hope you'll stick around to find out the answers...

Thanks! Really glad you're enjoying it. The next chapter is well underway... stay tuned!

Oh yeah... you're right... ;-)

Sleep eluded me. I found it impossible to switch off. I tried putting on the TV quietly for a while, thinking the background noise might help send me off to sleep. It didn’t. Trying another tack, I grabbed one of the textbooks I had bought for the first semester off my shelf – The Penguin History of Europe by J. M. Roberts – hoping that it might just be dull enough to help me drift off. That didn’t work either. If anything, I felt even more awake. Getting out of my bed, I sat at my desk and did

I don't want to give away any spoilers one way or another, but there is definitely logic to your way of thinking: Jake did see when Andrew had left his drink unattended... Glad you're enjoying the story in any case! Next chapter should be up towards the end of the week, I hope!

Ha! I'll let you have that one :-)

Innocent until proven guilty, right...? ;-)

I was standing in front of my mirror, desperately trying to figure out how I was supposed to magically transform my bed sheet into a toga, when there was a knock on my door, causing me to jump. Worried that my lack of toga-tying skills would end up giving whoever was on the other side a complete eyeful, I opened my door just a crack and peered around the edge. It was Matt, and he looked incredible. Rather annoyingly, he’d also managed to tie himself the perfect toga. I gestured to his toga.

I think as far as Andrew's concerned, 'once bitten, twice shy' hits the mark. When you've experienced unrequited love, I think you're always more likely to second guess yourself and overanalyse things. As you say, I think he's also rather naïve... I agree, Jake certainly seems to be 'more than just a friendly guy' on the face of things, but there's obviously something holding him back... ;-)

After shaving, showering, brushing my teeth and fixing my blonde hair into its usual ruffled style, I finally decided on a smart black shirt – which my mum had always told me made my blue eyes ‘pop’ – and my best pair of jeans. I put on my boots and gave myself a quick once-over in the mirror before deciding that I was looking about as good as I ever would. I sprayed myself with some of my aftershave and quickly made my way to the kitchen downstairs. Glancing at my watch on the way down, I saw t
