Chapter 49 – Highly Irregular Celebrations
Jrm1 commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 49 – Highly Irregular Celebrations
Mixed emotions. Will miss reading about this wonderful family. Was a nice conclusion. A though when I was reading was, Danny would likely be hit hard after finishing his birthday soon, missing his kids so very much; At least Brandon was with him. It will be very weird for all when they feel it is safe enough to come home. Do you Invision the separated not coming home till some point in 2021? Be hard on the youngest having their dad's away for so long, especially, Xander due to the relatively short time he was there prior to Danny and Brandon going into issolation. By the time they return home, TJ may well be crawling. Was fearful, that you might have the family having to deal with the death of a loved one, and glad you didn't make that creative choice. Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas. And one more time, for now, Thank You for all your efforts. 💖 -
Chapter 48 – A Time of Uncertainty

And the grind has begun. You did an excellent job in captuing the various and conflicting emotions that it is bringing. So two new grandkids for Josh. Congrats to Cole and Dustin. Both of them had real bumps in their early years. I like that you gave Cole the honour of Cole being first (yes, I know of Joshie, and the various adopted sons and daughter - but of the castaways, he is the first) Again, my flash back moments. Cole and Graham's arrival and what Cole had sacrificed to protect his little brother. And then there was that moment when Graham and Josh dealt with a lady who had been pushed beyond his limit. Think that Danny, Brandon and Jake are making a huge sacrifice to protect their loved ones. Their evenings must be lonely without all those who love them. Assuming video links are working overtime. Expecting that Josh, is spending a lot of time touching base with all of his distant children and grandchildren. Hoping that (you envision) all of them fairing well. Glad you touched base with Ricky. Wonder how also is impacting our other engaged Curry, Frankie - both Romantically, as well as, in his policing duties. Your greatest strengh as a writer is creating characters, situations and solutions that read very true to life, as well as, create a strong empathetic reaction. As I have said many times, thank you for your efforts. -
Chapter 47 – Special Celebrations
Jrm1 commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 47 – Special Celebrations
A wonderful and happy chapter. It is good to see both the trust that the adults are giving Joshie and Benny - and at the sametime how they are living up to that trust. They are one day's going to do all of their Dad's proud. 💖 In what seems to be becoming a theme with me, as I read this chapter, my memory drifted back to a Valentine's Day of long ago. One where the various LGBTQ boys were treated by Josh, and Cole, Graham, Sammy and Andrew to a very special Valentine's Day, while the straight boys were at the School's dance. Wonder how our current Young couple will handle this all these years later? Well, sigh, likely, they won't have to figure that out till their Juniour year. I am starting to wonder (and worry a bit) about Jessie. He seems to becoming distanced emotionally from the family. He seems to be over to the Hotel less than Graham, Andrew and Sammy. Also, in yourminds eye, do you have a clear view of the sexuality of both Jessie and Richard. Thanks again. -
Chapter 46 – The Verdict and Sentences

Big event chapter. Justice is served; hope Tamara feels safer knowing that the system did work. And hopefully, no one will be foolish enough to continue the harassment. And Covid is here. Wishing all Curries and their kin, safety. -
Chapter 45 – Interesting Times
Jrm1 commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 45 – Interesting Times
An excellent chapter. And like a lot of chapters of late it brought connections to the early years, in this case that very first summer. When Danny and Brendan first made love to each other. Let us hope that the future for these boys will be as happy as the relationships that both pairs of their dad's share. 💖 Then, we have Tristian and Revin - is this the start of something deeper, or is it more like Ricky's early connection with Rusty. Again wishing both these two a long and happy friendship, no matter where it carries each of them.n About Tamara, the coverage of her trial was well done; however, I do wish you would give us a chance to know her as an individual. Just as all gay boys are not the same - just look at the range of personalities of the various members of the Currie family, not all transgirls are the same. What do the boys think of her as just her. Both Dion and Trey most likely have taught her or at least have directly interacted with her. Is she an intervention or an extrovert. What are some of her interest. Would she connect with Benny or Joshie if not for the abuse causing their fairness and justice values to act? Finally, a wonderful tribute to Jake. It was nice that you spent time on him and had him finally fully understand and accept how deeply inbedded he is in the Curry family. The love that the boys and grandkids shared was touching. You intitled this "Interesting Times", truly a fitting title. Again much thanks for the heartwarming chapter to warm this Canadian heart, as we (wink, wink) suffer through an "American Snowstorm" 💖💖💖 -
Chapter 44 – The Holiday Comes to an End
Jrm1 commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 44 – The Holiday Comes to an End
Each chapter brings back connections to your tales of those first few years. This chapter reminded me of that first big road trip when they took Nicky and we first met Nick. Also reminded me of those times when the grandkids were teens and we're hanging out with the start of the second generation. I expect that the trip in Elliot's car was full of recounts of past adventures. Glad to see that the first service went well at their new church. Take care till next time. -

Chapter 43 – The End of Another Year
Jrm1 commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 43 – The End of Another Year
Thank you. 💖 Another wonderful chapter. This brought back many memories of those New Year's way back in the first generation and the struggles with the still mostly closeted teens to have their New Year's dance, just like the straight couples. Your sermon was one of your strongest passages of your full run. This is what the Good News should be focused on. You have created in Rev Kirk the pastor that should be the face of Christianity. Well done and, again, thank you. This next year will be a challenging one for all of the various Currie households. Schooling, careers, family events and especially Weddings will be impacted by the Virus. In a way, both fearing (but also looking forward to) how the virus will impact the greater family. Steve, Mary, Sally and Josh are all more at risk. Then there are those at the Clinic and Pharmacy. (question: Does Vinnie's condition put him at higher risk?) Then the impact on the educators, the College aged, and public school ages students? How will Jessie handle the lock down with his roommates, will all be able to cover the rent, or will most return home? Really, do hope you do explore some of the upheaval that the virus has caused. For most it has not been, "Carry on like normal". Also, will this upcoming crisis create some riffs in how to deal with the crisis. Are any Curries "Anti-maskers"/economy first types. How could this upset the fraternal bonds that Josh built over 20 years since the Hotel first opened. Your greatest skill is to create the illusion that these characters are real people; people that we have come to care and worry about. So again, Thank you. 💖 -
Chapter 42 – Another Joyous Christmas

A wonderful holiday. I paused for a moment near the end when the older sibs and Josh talked about "next Thanksgiving"; not going to be as expected. Sigh. -
Chapter 41– A Very Busy December

Wonder how soon enough the family will deal with Covid. With so many in one house, two being in the greater medical field? It will be a time of great change for all. Did Pennsylvania shut down the schools? -

As we are approaching Christmas 2020, we can reflect on this happy and loved filled homestead as most everyone is home, home sweet home. We can reflect on all those special moments from the over 20 past Curry Christmas. We can remember all those that only Graham can see. Thank you so much for all the time and love you have put into creating this extended family. 💖💖💖 -

Agreed, I remember how straind things were when Josh came out. So glad that that rift is fully healed. It was one of the hardest things that Josh endured. -
Chapter 40 – The Confrontation
Jrm1 commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 40 – The Confrontation
Excellent chapter. Not sure that I like Josh folding his tent, but I fully understand his reasons. I would worry of a closeted youth still grappling with his sexuality, having to face this bigot, especially, if he gets the same crap on the home front. Sadly, most every credibile biblical scholar can rip apart both the anti-LGBTQ interpretations as will as the concept of taking the Bible literally, the bigots cling to this total misunderstanding of the Good News. Sadly, a generation of good works will be undone by one bigot. Si. A request, if when Josh is narrating, have a brief heading letting us know - it was not until you had a reference to Trey in the third person that I did a double take before it clicked in that it was Josh. -

As kids enter puberty, their world views and understanding change. What they know about and do might be the same. Remembering the various challenges that Josh dealt with especially involving Sammy and Andrew. -

Humm Revin is 12, with him Tristan and the twins in Middle school; the younger boys are growing up fast. Hormones will soon be kicking in if for some it already hasn't started. They likely are aware of that Joshie and Benji are a couple. Woder what their various feelings are about this and their household as they each start to navigate their way through their growing awareness.
