Not purposely being reclusive. I started a new position at work, so I'm working more hours while I go through training, and my partner and myself are in the process of becoming foster parents. So life dude. plus, I'll probably give something away if I talk about the story too much.

(Evan) "Are you ready to go, boys?" Jon asked as we gathered near the backdoor of his hideaway. I took one last look at the dimly lit corridor behind us before I turned back to Jon and nodded. "Let's go." Jon motioned for us to follow him as he started running towards the north. "Why are we running?" Tatum asked as he followed along behind me. "Jon has a tracker on his car, and the government doesn't know about the place that we're going." Dylan replied. "This way we

(Ethan) "How have you been, Ethan?" Doctor Howards asked me with a polite smile. I could hear the edge of concern in her voice as she gazed at me with her almond brown eyes. "You've been very quiet today. Tell me what's on your mind, Ethan." She continued to stare at me while I shifted in my seat. I had taken the cushioned chair opposite her desk while Doctor Howards sat behind her desk. She reminded me of my mother whenever she was trying to get my brother or myself to talk about our f

Chapter 9 - The Wolf's Lair
StoryMyke commented on StoryMyke's story chapter in Chapter 9 - The Wolf's Lair
So, there's not a chapter missing and didn't really feel the need to cover what Tatum and Evan did during the day. It's been covered before how they spend their time. But I do kinda see what you mean, so I might go through and explain it in another book, but with this one being completed and just being posted over here after it's already been posted elsewhere, and has been for a while, I'm not going to make major changes. I believe that after this chapter everything smoothes out since it had originally started as a story on nifty. As it got posted to another site it went through a major rewrite and things were edited better than what they appear in these nine chapters. So, hopefully the story is told better after this. -
(Evan) I watched nervously as Jon slid into the driver's seat of the black Camaro. Tatum and Dylan had taken up positions in the back seat of the car which left the front passenger seat for me. I sat down in the car and before I even had my door closed, Jon was spinning the tires. He threw up gravel behind us as I felt my body being pushed back into the seat. I glanced over to see that we were already pushing sixty and I pulled on my seatbelt. "Am I making you nervous?" Jon asked with a

In my universe of vampires and monsters, they feed the same day/night they wake up. Right now, his body is settling into the change and needs to feed every four or five days before the Monster really starts taking control over his instincts and actions.

(Evan) Dylan spent more time with me than I really wanted, but I didn't let it bother me. I didn't blame him completely for my accident anymore, I just felt different in his company. It felt to me like Dylan could read me like a book. If I was considering changing the channel, then Dylan would reach out and just do it. He stayed with me in my apartment during the long nights, and I let him sleep in my bed during the days. He would talk very little and it made me confused as to why he wanted

(Ethan) I couldn't stop fidgeting with my pants as I waited in the therapist's office for my name to be called. The receptionist was a young woman with fiery red hair and fierce green eyes. She seemed friendly enough, but there was something about the way that she looked at me that sent chills up my spine. It was as if I was part of a giant conspiracy or something. It had been my mother's idea for me to start going to therapy. She decided that since it was working for her, that it would

The Prophecy. It gets mentioned more the further we get into the story. I have a question for both of you... Would you ever trust your father or uncle again if they worked to change you into a monster?

(Evan) "It's time to hunt!" I looked up from the book that I had been reading at the sound of Jon's voice and easily caught the black leather jacket that he tossed at me. "What's with this?" I asked curiously. Jon grinned at me. "We're going somewhere special, and you need to blend in." He explained. Jon and I had actually become friends over the prior week, and it helped me get used to the fact that I had been turned into a monster. Tatum visited every day and sat i

Remember, Evan is being influenced by outside forces. All he really knows, is what he's being told at the moment.

(Ethan) I tried to force myself to sleep, but every time I closed my eyes all I could see was the image of Evan's small urn being lowered into the ground. I had spent the past week in tears, but I was nowhere near as bad as my mother. She would down a bottle of wine every evening at the dining room table until she passed out. If it was after my father had gone to bed, I would slide a pillow under her head and put the bottle of wine in the fridge. Then, I would return to my room where I would

(Evan) "You haven't slept in three days, Evan." Jon told me as if I didn't even know. "Don't you feel even the slightest bit tired?" "No," I told him with a shrug. Director Croft had my room changed to one that looked more like an apartment. There was still an observation room off of one side, but Jon had demanded that there be curtains put in place to protect my privacy. I didn't understand why they had given me such a large room, but I didn't complain. There was a large flat screen te

(Evan) I'm dead... "There couldn't be any other explanation as to why I didn't have a heartbeat. I'm dead and I never got to say goodbye to Ethan, I thought bitterly. There was a ringing in my ears like I had tinnitus, but it was fading away just like the fire had done the moment my heart had ceased to beat. As I lay on the cot I began to hear the sound of muffled voices coming from nearby and I strained to hear them. "Did it work?" I heard someone ask. "There's no r

I just realized why this chapter may seem so confusing. Everywhere else I have it, there are horizontal rules between the different scenes, so they don't run together. I just noticed that they didn't really cross over. In this chapter or chapter two. Once I get some free time, I'll see if I can fix it, and I'll keep an eye out for it in future chapters, too. It really does make more sense when the scenes are actually broken apart the way they're meant to be. Oops!

All great questions but none are going to be answered by me, at least. Glad you're enjoying it, though.

(Ethan) I sat in the bay window in our living room and stared out into the falling snow. It had been nearly three hours since my brother had sent a text telling us that he was on his way home. He still had yet to arrive home. I heard sirens coming from the direction of the school a few hours ago, but I doubted that had anything to do with Evan. My father – Eugene Bentley – worked for the government and spent the past three hours calling in favors from different people. My mother was pacing bac

(Evan) The snow was falling heavily across the city when I finally managed to get free from school. It was already after five and the sky was cloudy and dark, and the streetlights were casting an eerie orange glow over the snow-covered ground. I sat in my car as it struggled against the bitter cold temperatures to produce any kind of heat and swore that the weatherman needed to be fired. The snowstorm wasn’t supposed to move in until the weekend, but it had moved in faster than the models pred
