    You've written a good and interesting start. I like the first encounter between Bastian and Mason. Both seem to have strong personalities. But when it comes to fate or mating, there is nothing they can do about it. It's nice that you already include their family and friends and give us a small glimpse into your lore. Indeed, very nice. Very nice. To bad, that you put the story on hold. I hope, you will find some time and motivation to continue someday.

    I don't remember exactly when I've read the story for the first time. But after reading it several times over the years, I'm still excited. I like this first chapter. It's a brilliant and balanced start. You present the right amount of lore and background information. And you introduce the main characters with a good balance between humour and depth. Just brilliant.
