  1. For the most part, your assumptions and analyses about them are pretty on point, but I can't confirm or deny which ones lol. I have already considered possible epilogues - and don't worry, I like happy or neutral endings - but I don't even have an ending quite yet.
  2. No way, you've also encountered an insurance-fraud-AA guy!? Thought it was just me. Totally kidding, I know what you meant. In all seriousness, it was important to me to make it clear that Jake still loves his sister regardless. However, their relationship has been and will be tested by Ellie's disease, which I'm very curious to see how readers will react in a future chapter. And I know! I'm just as eager to write fluff between Nic and Jake, but as I've mentioned in some other comment, this story is an emotional slow burn. Their romantic path will have some turns that will probably frustrate some people 😅 Tysm for your thoughtful analysis and readership!
  3. I'm glad you're enjoying it so far! I'm becoming a fan of your story as well. I'm considering breaking it up into volumes so it doesn't get too bogged down, but that depends on where the plot falls in the next few chapters.
  4. The actual count is a bit complicated. When I was writing with no plans to ever make it public, it was around 150k words and I was about 80% done. Then I started to edit it down and make it more of a proper novel about 8 months ago. We're about halfway through the "reader ready" stuff, but I do have a lot of assorted scenes that will eventually get incorporated. I've taken a break from writing fresh material the past few months that I've been uploading chapters, but I'm finally gearing up to start again. ....but that's just a long winded way of saying, yes, you've read about 1/4 of the available material, lol. I'm glad people have found so much enjoyment from it and I'm having fun sharing so far.
  5. Had to get the ball rolling somehow! Thanks, Ken. I managed by having way too much free time during work over the last 2 years because of pandemic slow downs (lucky to have stayed employed) but at least something productive came out of it lol...
  6. The ball is in Jake's court now, but Nic wouldn't offer anything like this unless he felt in control. He could be seen as manipulative since he's just looking for another distraction, but deep down, I think he's fascinated as well. He's just spent too long building up emotional walls to recognize it. When the fallout happens (not if), it will be interesting to write how Nic will react or offer support (if any). Thanks for reading and your in-depth comments!
  7. Oh, he definitely will!
  8. Meg ended up staying the night, using her usual cover story of a sleepover with a friend. Jake would rather have been left alone to think, but he didn’t feel right kicking her out after sex. She wouldn’t have taken it well, and it would have cemented his suspicion that he had used her. They took her car to school, though Jake planned on catching a ride home with one of his teammates. Meg was practically skipping at his side as they walked across the parking lot to class, drawing a co
  9. With Jake and Nic? Or Shiv and Arnie? If it's Meg, yeah, I agree, she kind of sucks.
  10. That's a good analysis. For Jake, it seems that he was confusing contentment with happiness and that switch was all it took to knock everything out of alignment.
  11. Honestly, the story title only came to me when I was about to post and realized it needed one. It was untitled for the year or so that I've been writing it. It fits, though: both guys have elements that the other needs, but there are a lot of obstacles between them. Personally, I think Nic has the most issues to work through, which makes him both a joy and frustrating to write. Jake is slowly coming to terms about his sexuality, but recognizing that it's more than sex is probably where they'll both falter.
  12. Shiv lounged on her stomach across Arnie’s perpetually unmade daybed, idly flicking through the pages of a textbook. It was a Saturday and she was actually doing homework. Nic still hadn’t figured out how Glendale High managed to be infamous for its partying while simultaneously maintaining some of the highest test scores in the state. “So,” Shiv said, pretending to be casual, “are you ever going to tell me what happened between you and Vince?” Nic just managed to keep himself from sh
  13. I agree with @Ivor Slipper Great writing, your descriptions are on point, and it even had me a bit emotional at one point. I like your depiction of grief and the plasticity of the porn industry. I would have loved to see this split into 3 or more chapters to get the viewership it deserved. Edit: oh, and one lingering question I had on the back of my mind: did Rafael lose his virginity on camera? If so, that's...hardcore.
  14. Aw, thank you! Tbh I was nervous about putting my first sex scene out there, so I'm glad it seems to have been a hit Yeah, this is far from a slow burn in the traditional sense, but I'd call it more of an emotional slow burn.
  15. Jake wasn't thrilled about it, but that does open up some possibilities....hm, we'll see!

    First Kiss

Ha, it seems Quentin liked Ernesto better as a fantasy 😭 Great chapter!
  17. Nic was fuming for the rest of the day. Though he gave away nothing, his family was used to his mercurial moods; they wisely avoided him and he went to bed that night with few words and still pissed. His wrist and knuckles ached from punching that fucker in the face, but his pride was more damaged than anything else. He’d have loved to get a few more hits in, even if it meant getting pummeled in the process. Because of his history at his old school, Nic was no stranger to fighting. He had l

    Galen- Promises

I'm a little heartbroken by this ending (assuming it is the end) but wonderful writing nonetheless. I hope we'll see them become reunited someday.

    The Tattoo

Oh so we just jump right in...I was wondering how quickly the spell would take effect. Keep em coming!
  20. I think Nic is definitely aware of Jake at this point, at least physically - he's a looker, after all. But Nic just likes sex and does his best to avoid feeling anything, ever, which can pose a problem for any future interactions.
  21. I mean...they're already naked, and that's step one. 😉 Teenagers don't have a ton of options, so probably the latter in this case, and Nic has no shame. It wasn't intentional, but he probably found it funny.

    Prologue

Great first chapter. I'm interested in seeing where this goes!
  23. In terms of selfishness, Meg and Nic could be seen as somewhat similar to each other, which is probably why giving people like Jake are drawn to them. Nic's reason is because of trauma and Meg's is her spoiled upbringing. But as fun as it is, the psychoanlyzing could skew your opinions of the characters or how I write them, lol. Thanks for the compliments!
  24. Sociopath may be a bit strong. I was aiming for having narcissistic tendencies, but that works, too - it's interesting to see how others interpret my characters! I like your predictions for the future of Nic and Jake, since I'm trying to make it clear that hurt people hurt people (as cliché as that is). I don't usually like to read or write easy romances, so their journey won't be a smooth one.
  25. Meg's really just a poor knockoff of Regina George, but she tries. Neumann is probably the least creative bully I've ever written and he's not a joy to create scenes for, but Nic definitely hasn't heard the last of him...
