  1. Meg's really just a poor knockoff of Regina George, but she tries. Neumann is probably the least creative bully I've ever written and he's not a joy to create scenes for, but Nic definitely hasn't heard the last of him...
  2. Jake whisked a handful of empty plates and glasses from the table, pausing to balance them expertly and ask the group of teenagers, all girls, if they needed anything else before he went to get the check. The bravest of them, a pretty Latina with long, dark hair, giggled and said something flirtatious to him in Spanish that he didn’t quite catch - he was fluent, but distracted, so he gave a vague answer and grinned roguishly, earning himself a giggle. Slightly flustered, Jake hurried the dishes
  3. Thank you for your kind comments! I'm far from a beer connoisseur, but I think cheaper beers like PBR or Bud have a strong and distinct "beer" smell like you walked into a college kegger, but more expensive ones tend to smell more subtle to me.
  4. I've had a few isolated ones in my life and I know a lot of anxious people, unfortunately. Not as severe as Nic's, though, so I'm glad I was able to convey it accurately (maybe too accurately? I hope you feel better now!) Luke is the kind of friend we all need, but Nic isn't great at accepting kindness at this point.
  5. It was supposed to be a normal Saturday evening with Joey and Luke…until it wasn’t. As with most weekends, Nic’s parents were working, so it was his responsibility watch the apartment and take Joey to his afternoon therapy appointment. Afterwards, they lazed around the house for a few hours until Joey begged to hang out with their cousin – probably to get his hands on Luke’s PS5, which the Mathesons couldn’t come close to affording any time soon. As for Nic, he’d been feeling off all day,
  6. It was a miracle Jake didn’t get into an accident on the way home. On a different day, he might have found this entire experience funny. He might have texted Luke to joke about his wild cousin later. Even some revulsion would have been an easier pill to swallow; he could address his subconscious homophobia later. But this...no, this was unacceptable. Jake had run out of the gym with his backpack awkwardly hanging in front of him, trying to conceal the erection that still persisted as

    Chapter II

A young woman, you say? How scandalous. I wonder how the four of them will interact.
  8. Not sure if that question was rhetorical, so without revealing too much: I have plans for her, but not until a bit later.
  9. I try to keep you on your toes 😉 Hm, neither. I chose a relatively generic town name because I didn't want to spend a lot of time researching states I've never been to, lol. This Glendale is fictional and probably somewhere on the east coast. Fun fact: there are 36 places in the U.S. named Glendale.
  10. Tuesday was a little easier. Samwell didn’t have any condescending emails for Jake that morning and Jake had dropped off Meg the night before, relatively satisfied from their activities. Somewhat grudgingly, Jake could admit to himself that getting up at seven A.M. was a bit easier when he wasn’t hungover, but it also meant class was less of a blur. Jake had always hated school. It wasn’t the learning aspect of it, exactly, since he remembered enjoying documentaries and educational TV unti
  11. Thank you so much! I'm currently experiencing a bit of writer's block but luckily we've got a few months before it catches up to me 😅
  12. More like an ocean...angsty, snarky characters my specialty.
  13. It was the first day of senior year, and Jake woke up feeling like it was the hundred and first. He sleepily reached across his bed to where his phone was charging and shut off the incessant alarm – the third in the last half hour – and sighed as he stretched his long limbs. Jake reluctantly crawled out of bed and into his small bathroom, eager to brush away the stale taste of beer still on his tongue. Some nagging part of him knew it wouldn’t be a good idea to go out with his teammates th
  14. Jake is a popular high school student that couldn't be more lonely. Nic is a prickly loner with a dark past. The two couldn't be more different on the surface, and initially clash. An encounter between them changes everything, whether they want it to or not.
