  1. Who else would you have to memorize the smell of your fart? Your mother? NO! Rad
  2. I think this is the reason why we have Parental Guidance stuff with regards to TV shows and movies. Everyone know it's inevitable for teens to see a sex scene, so they trust the parents to be there and explain that stuff to their children. Unfortunately, this does not always happen, and more often than not, teens find out sex on their own. Authors must be responsible with the way they write erotica, that is, if they care about these teens reading their work. Like I said, no matter how much disclaimers we put, these teens will find these stories, and they WILL read it. And if they don't have their parents there to explain stuff they don't understand (and I wouldn't want my parents to be there if I were they) then they only have themselves, the story, and the author. So I think everybody should just be a responsible person with this kind of stuff. Rad
  3. Oh gawd! Me? TWINK?! My life is very predictable right now even with my eyes closed. But I'll watch out for that next hill. Thanks again, guys! Rad
  4. Hey Everyone, Thanks for the greetings! While there was no party or anything, and it was like just another day, I felt that this is probably my most 'comfortable' birthday so far. I never knew that written birthday greetings are better than the spoken ones - at least, to me. It always makes me cringe when I hear someone greeting me a happy birthday, though I still smile at him. The day was still a good one, though the one I was expecting to call or something didn't. Hehe... if he was only reading this. Anyway... there's still some leftover ice cream in the freezer. I'll comfort myself with that. Thanks, everyone. I hope you have a great day yourself regardless if it's your birthday or not. Rad
  5. Oh gawd! Exactly the thought in my mind when I scrolled down and saw that I was supposed to be celebrating my 20th. How did that happen? Thanks, Graeme, Jan! Rad <<----P.S. The mini-profile still says I'm 19.
  6. Continuing the work of a deceased author... I'd say yes. It's not like it hasn't been done before. Does the word "collaboration" ring a bell? Sure, both authors could be alive, but it's not any different in my humble opinion. I wouldn't stop anyone from continuing the work of a great author. It's just like letting someone continue sculpting a statue a great sculptor had started but now is unable to finish because of death. You don't know the exact details the sculptor had in mind, but you know that the human body has two hands, two feet, a nose. You just have to rely on the details the sculptor had left in order to finish the statue closer to what he had in mind. As for ethics, I'm pretty sure every author wants their work finished. If at his death bed he says he doesn't want anyone to finish his story, then the story shouldn't be finished. Though I'm most certainly sure art is different from science (for science has laws, and art/literature is an expression of one's soul where anything goes), I agree that whoever continues the story shouldn't get any profit from it. But if he deserves it, why not? If he did justice to the story, why not tell him so instead of telling him what he should and shouldn't do? Who knows if someone had snuck a paragraph into one of Mark Twain's stories without him noticing it? Would you feel differently about the story knowing someone added that paragraph? That's just silly. I believe it would be an honor if someone asks me to finish his dad's/partner's/grandfather's/mother's/grandmother's/sister's/brother's work. That's not to say I will do it. If I'm comfortable enough about the story, I will. If I know I can, I will. If I will continue the work of a deceased author, I'd re-write it in my own style. For if I just continue where he left off, there will be a very distinct difference. There's just no way anybody could write in someone else's style. What if the sculptor uses his toes in sculpting? If I'll re-write it, he same things happen, although it would be written in my own words. Like I said, collaboration. Rad
  7. Hey, JMH! That's a really great idea.. I hope though that I'd be able to contribute even just one article. Good luck! You started something really great. Rad
  8. Everything comes down to personal preferences. But as I'm a guy who doesn't have an "ideal" lover, I don't see the point of this poll at all. When it comes to dating, I don't see how that kind of detail would affect anybody's decision. I mean, you date a guy because you like him and want to get to know him more. You find out he's bi, and you're all turned off all of a sudden. That's human, I guess. But if you're that kind of person, I wouldn't date you at all. And again, that's a personal preference. Rad
  9. Happy Birthday Colin!!! A hundred more years for you. Rad
  10. I guess everybody hates typos and grammatical errors, but when the story is really good, I usually let them be, although I do tell the author nicely about it. But I don't make any suggestions about a story's plot, and that one turns me off. There are these stories that I get into because they're really good at the start, the characters are interesting, and the plot is something I can relate to. Then, somewhere in the middle, the author would make a note asking for plot suggestions because he's run out of it. I say goodbye to the story at that point. What also throws me out of the story is too much rambling. It's annoying, so even though I really like the story I would stop reading because of it. There was this one story online that I really liked up to the sixteenth chapter, but after that, I think the author only wanted to prolong it for reasons known only to him. I think it's a waste of good stories when their authors do that. A story has to end when it has to end. An author could just write a sequel if he really wants to continue the story past its supposed end after the climax. Continuous change in points of view, too.
  11. I think fan-fic limits a good author. I haven't tried reading any of them. And I know there are most certainly a lot of good fan-fics out there. When it comes to celebrities, it might be fun to read about how some people want so and so to happen. Makes you all go *sigh, I wish.* It's a really good way to express an infatuation towards a celebrity. Maybe someday there'll be a contest about which celeb had been written the most fan-fic. I wonder who would win. When it comes to fan-fics of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, and the like, I don't read them at all. I know it sounds offensive, but I think it's not original, regardless of how the plot was better than the original author's himself. Like I said, it limits a good author. It's like reheating an already cooked food. I like to read authors who cook their own dish. I think if fan-fic authors ever come up with their own characters and stuffs, they'd find it more accomplishing. Don't stop writing though or reheating because of my opinion. I'm not the only reader.
  12. Hey! Awesome start. I really couldn't say anything else but wow. I like the way you portrayed Brandon. Just by describing his environment and what he's doing and eating, you gave me a clear picture of the kind of person he is and the kind of person he wants to be. Kudos! Rad
  13. For me, it's everything in the story and it doesn't have to relate to me personally. Just the way a writer could express his character's emotions in tangible ways are enough to get me going. We only feel emotions, but when a writer compares it to something we see, hear, touch, smell, and taste, that does it for me. Like Graeme, I also think the story has to be well written. One error is enough to get you jolted out of the mood
  14. Well, if I'm ever reincarnated, I hope by that time everyone's bi like me. Or more open-minded. Whatever. I'll be what I'll be. I'll want to be born as I am, but maybe next time as the son of the wealthiest man in the universe.
  15. It's not like we can choose, right?
