  1. Narrator: Toby His punishment paddle still hangs in full view on the wall of our living room. Instinctively I place a hand over my butt, thinking back to the day he put it up there. Florian notices where I’m looking and comes to stand beside me. "I really put you through it sometimes, didn’t I?" "Yeah." "You must’ve hated me at times." “I could never hate you, Florian.” He sinks down onto the sofa and gestures for me to sit beside him. “It’s probably time to te

    Bonding

Narrator: Florian Fabian was sitting at his computer, frowning in concentration. He only had a few days left to prepare his presentation for the Mayor’s visit. That visit was crucial for securing the extra funding he’d requested from the City to realize his ambitious new ideas for the Peel Bastion project. I cleared my throat gently, and he looked up. “Sorry, I don’t mean to interrupt, but I’m looking for Toby.” “No worries,” said Fabian. “I could use a bit of a break. Toby’s
  3. Narrator: Florian How do you punish a hero? Rescuing Fabian and Mike was a feat of sheer brilliance, and Dad had made sure that everyone important in the City knew it. But the laws of the City were unforgiving: eight months in the Holy Boys meant a minimum of twenty years in prison. And with the things Toby had done before that, there’d be at least another four years on top. In the end, my father had had no choice but to hand him over to the Detention Division. Ever since, my frie

    Promise

Narrator: Toby The Holy Boys gang. Their biggest wins were all thanks to me. The City Bank. The diamond heist. Florian tried to understand. His dad, Julian, was probably still torn between locking me up or shaking my hand. How can I ever explain it? How addictive it was? The praise from Lars for how I was helping them? The attention from Frank, his brother? Frank had a thing for me. And I hated how much that meant. He showed me around the gang, strutted about with me lik

    Shelter

Narrator: Florian The abandoned shack lay hidden among a small cluster of trees. My father had sent me here this morning to monitor the radio frequencies ahead of a mission in the area. I had no idea what the mission involved, but something was clearly going on. The airwaves crackled with tense voices. After a while, my father arrived with Gerard, his right-hand man on the force. I poured three mugs of coffee and set them down on the grimy table. “Good thing you sent me ahead,” I

No worries, I’m not messing with the story. I’m just adding a bit more background about the world it’s set in. It slots in just fine with Chapter 3. 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion. If a story takes place in a fantasy world, the writer has to choose how much background information he puts in the story about that world. If you give to much information, then you risk becoming too explanatory. But maybe I am doing the opposite, giving too little information. I take your advice to heart. In chapter 3 there will be some more information about the relations between the City and the Outside.

Hi Talo, thanks for your kind words. What gave it away that I'm Dutch? New Rotterdam I guess? 🙂 I'm planning to post two chapters a week. Chapter 2 will be realesed on wednesday. There will be six chapters in total. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the story!
  9. Narrator: Florian The massive station hall buzzed with people hurrying along. I leaned against the railing on the first floor, watching the bustle below. Four guys around my age - early twenties - stood near the center of the hall, dressed in tight, trendy clothes that practically screamed for attention. Their stance was confident, their voices loud as they joked and laughed together. After a while, my gaze drifted left, where another boy was standing. He looked about eighteen, slim wi
  10. Two young men from opposite sides of society are drawn into a bond neither of them expected - built on love, trust, and the power to command or surrender. A slow-burning romantic drama set in a future shaped by discipline, privilege, and control.
  11. I'm a new author, so this may be a silly question. I'm trying to add a new story, have filled in title, description, genre and tags, but cannot find a button to upload the story itself. If I press the button "Submit to moderation" I'm afraid I'll be sending an empty story description. How do I upload the story?
