    The image of Jamie alone, shivering, and unconscious kept haunting Connor. He believed Jamie when he said the wound would heal. He never considered the alternative. He never dreamed it could turn into a life-threatening infection. Now all he could do was hope for a miracle or, better yet, hope that he’d somehow wake up and it would all have just been a dream.
