Was Katelyn's baby really aborted? Or was she sent to one of those places for unmarried young ladies with "problems", which are really adoption agencies?
-
Wow, I was in 8th grade when that happened. I'm old enough to be their grandfather!

I don't know the Washington state laws in the future, but now in the State of Pennsylvania, Notaries Public have to keep a contemporaneous record book of all uses of their seal. In most cases, wills have to be witnessed, but I don't know if Notarization is required. Maybe the fake will is holographic, entirely in the Dr.'s handwriting, but how was it possible to have time to get it to India without giving the Dr. a chance to have a more recent will written? The Indians' lawyer was entirely unprepared with any details.

The Devil’s in the Details

In a way, the Indian parents are bluffing. How can they be sure that they have the very LAST will? Were they with the good Dr. continuously from the time it was written until he died, so that he was not able to write a more recent will? -
A Banquet for the Future

I still think that if Marjorie Shapiro likes money, she'll be trying to get Dr. J.J. on the Culver Diesel board instead of Jeff. -
I'm sure that there are businesswomen who would destroy their own fortunes to preserve their beliefs in the impossible. But Marjori Shapiro may also realize that if the electric cars win, her company will need Dr. J.J.'s help to stay in business, even if there is no climate change. How much honor does she have with the rest of the fossil fuel thieves? Will she think "every woman for herself"? An earlier example is some steam locomotive companies getting into the Diesel engine business, but not merging with General Motors. Instead, they all failed.
-
If either of the electric cars wins the $2,000,000,000.00 bet, it will be a cheap price for Marjorie Shapiro to pay to get him on the Culver board. Otherwise Culver will have to pay a lot more to Jeff to steal him and his abilities. For Culver Diesel, it will be either hire J. J. or go out of business.

I wonder why the gun and boxer shorts were put in a plastic bag before being dropped into the cave. That would help preserve them for a while.

Alan probably didn't think that his intimate activities with Adam were normal, more likely he just thought that they were enjoyable for Alan.

Thanks for continuing the story. What does a 2 story apartment with a 1st floor terrace have outside its 2nd floor windows? I'm still trying to understand how the higher up apartments have a view of what's happening on the terrace, unless the voyeurs are in neighboring buildings.

I don't play a lawyer on TV, so I don't know if this is helpful. Would a Civil Union make their bedroom activities legal?

Return to the Land of Lincoln

Thank you for this exciting story. I'm surprised that the Hanibal police didn't ask the Velocity Mile bike shop about the found bike's owner. I suspect that the police who captured Adam had no communication with the police who found the bike. Otherwise, they would have been trying to find evidence that it really was a stolen bike so that Adam could be charged with a crime. -
I find it hard to believe that if Adam's "father" acquired and continued to use Adam for personal sexual gratification, that he would dare let Adam go away to school or anywhere else unsupervised, no matter what threats might be issued, lest Adam innocently let slip what was being done to him. Teacher: "Never let a stranger put his hands in your pants." Adam: "But is it all right if my father does that?"
-
It's been many years since my father enrolled me in school, but I think that he had to provide some evidence of my age and vaccinations to prove that I would be eligible for 1st grade. What were the policies in Southern Indiana around 2008?
-
I find it too complicated to accept that Adam's "father" would give up a life of bank robbing forever to become a house painter.
-
I like choice No. 1, that Adam's father acquired a bank robber's gun.

> Dr. Moorthy quite obviously wasn’t an observant Hindu, as he took a cut of the beef < Not all Indians are Hindu, there have been Catholics in that sub-continent since St. Doubting Thomas, the Apostle of the Indies arrived.

A Final Drive Around the Block
jimboylan commented on Altimexis's story chapter in A Final Drive Around the Block
I'm worried that disclosing the promotion from 5th to 8th grade in a Southern Indianna school to others may make it too easy to connect J.J. to some news story about Adam. -
I hope that after experiencing Speedos, Adam J.J. ditches the boxer underwear for real briefs.
-
> Exiting the house for the final time, I left the door ajar. < That would make it possible for a wild animal to enter and devour or drag away Dad's body. Then the trashing of Adam's room might be looked at as unconnected with Dad's death, but instead committed by a burglar that stayed away from the bloodstained room. Adam doesn't describe the type of door lock, but implies that it doesn't automatically lock, and instead requires action, like using a key, that only a resident should be able to perform.

Surely they have taken his fingerprints in an attempt to find his identity. Since Indianna hasn't reacted, that implies that there is no Indiana missing person's report with his fingerprints, there may be no Indianna record of his fingerprints, his father's fate hasn't been discovered, or the local police weren't able to find or connect any of Adam's prints that were in the cabin.

Thank you for sharing this exciting story. I'm surprised that Adam didn't already have an Email address. Some of the Internet places he consulted must have asked for one. Not all allow anonymous browsing. Maybe he did have an address and his school knew it, so he didn't dare use it after his father's death. While there are ways that any scammer knows to disguise or falsify your location when accessing an account, that would still be a hint to any investigator who could gain access that Adam was possibly still alive. A solution would be to make it look like the address and password have been shared with others who are still using the account. Some systems allow messages to be sent to yourself or stored unsent. Adam could create some fake messages to support this idea. However, a new address as suggested in the next paragraph is even safer. > If I could get access to a computer, I could set up a bogus Applazon account using a random physical address and an anonymous email address. I could make an anonymous purchase using my gift cards and have the merchandise sent to an Applazon locker, but there was still a risk the police could figure it out and track me to the locker. Besides which, without a phone, I couldn’t even open the locker. < Can a "throw away" phone with Internet data access be used? Other retailers have lockers or pickup counters that can be accessed with an order number or code that doesn't have to be displayed on a phone. Some computer research will reveal particular policies.
-
> J.J. ... could use an incognito browser to do a search for the death of his so called father < Some libraries and Internet Cafes that allow public use of their computers scrub or reformat them after every customer's use, for privacy and fraud protection. A free library is also less likely to keep a record of who used a computer.

I wonder if any of the state laws of Escheat apply to the expired and invalidated gift cards, and if they will help Adam recover their value in the future. Since in an earlier chapter, the Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) weren't on the physical cards, I don't think that whoever has Adam's wallet can access the funds, but only put a hold on them. Since Adam knows the PINs, he may be able to use them to tell the issuer that he has recovered the lost cards. If successful, he should quickly convert them to cash and then convert the cash to something else.

Catholic teaching, which not all agree with, is that it's the homosexual act, and not the person himself, that is wrong. Fundamentalist Protestant preachers may have different opinions. I thought it unusual that the Unitarian church in Illinois had parishioners, since geographic parishes are more of a Catholic thing, many other denominations have non-geographic and more widely dispersed congregations composed of congregants.
