  1. Welcome, Elizabeth! Great first post! I'm with you 100%. Well, almost. I just have one problem with what you said. That's the impulsive behavior thing. That research must have been conducted on female subjects only. If it wasn't, I've just learned that I am developmentally challenged. Oh well, I can live with that. Hugs, Conner
  2. Right on again, Lore. Quote (from memory) from Good Will Hunting - "It's not whether she's right for you or you're right for her. It's whether you're right for each other." If it weren't for the ever so slight age disparity and maybe a legal issue or two, Quinn and I would be perfect for one another. Hugs, Conner
  3. Good point, Lore. In fact, it points to a long held male double standard, predominantly for straights but gays are not immune. A slut being a woman who has multiple partners, while a male who behaves similarly is a stud. When a man "sows his oats" it usually includes a healthy dose of sex. It's his birthright. If you pay attention to a lot of the friendly banter in this forum, you'll find a more than a few sluts, myself included. Conner
  4. That is a distinct possibility. Aaron says he has changed but he has yet to demonstrate that through action. As I mentioned in another post, Aaron could clear Luke's name at any time but he hasn't. If he did, Aaron would more than likely have do some time. Mind you, it would be in a youth detention centre....and he would meet a lot of guys in there. Call it a sabbatical. Here's another scenario on the car theft. Let's say another of Aaron's buddies stole the car and showed up at his place. Aaron asks him (or her?)to borrow the car as a treat for Luke on his birthday. Maybe even Aaron doesn't know it's a stolen car - but he likely did. The police pull them over with Luke driving. Aaron has to decide on the spot whether he implicates Luke, his other buddy or takes the wrap himself. How's that for a dilema? When I screw up, it has always been my practice to lie first. If you tell the truth first, then you have nothing to fall back on. Hugs, Conner
  5. DK - thanks for taking the time to explain some of the mechanics of the forum to us peons. Sometimes I tend to take the adage, 'Ignorance is bliss' to new levels. Then again, I tackle some subjects with such tenaciousness (some would say grandiosity) when I really don't know shit. Oh, such fun being human! Conner
  6. DK, I'm curious as to why you feel cheated. Come on, fess up. Conner
  7. Excellent, notTed. You just relieved a whole lot of tension for me. I could live with that, no problem. It's not perfect because Rory grew up without a dad in his life, but I would definitely let Rory's mom off the hook if that was her reason. I strongly believe that kids need a mom and a dad in their lives. I'm not saying single parents can't do a great job. They can and they do. Gay couples can also do a great job of raising children. It's just my thing, I guess. But there is a flip side to being noble. Take, for example, a married man with older children who finds out he has a terminal disease. He decides, on his own, to not tell his family (until it becomes obvious) in order to spare them most of that ordeal. It's hard to put anyone down for doing that. But, in mind at least, he has denied his family the opportunity to support him during his remaining months. I would feel cheated. Another issue that comes up for me is why didn't Rory's mom put herself back in the game. I mean, it's no picnic being a single parent. No, I'm not suggesting that she should have married the first dickhead who came along. But there it is. I think it was chap 6 where Rory readily admits to Eddie that he grew up happy without a dad. Kudos to Rory for being honest, but I wonder how Eddie took that? That had to hurt somewhere deep in his psyche. One last thing, isn't it great the way Grandma Alice continues to make her presense felt even when she isn't in the chapter, so to speak? Hugs, Conner
  8. You just did, Jay! Congrats!
  9. So you do have a chamber, DK? Hugs, Conner
  10. You're right on there, Trebs. That was the best thing that happened in the chapter - for Rory anyway. Hugs, Conner
  11. Another great chapter! I truly got to experience Rory's state of craziness...there's the kiss at the water park on Sunday; Luke's reaction to Aaron being on the boat ride; waiting for the package all Monday morning wondering if his whole life has been a lie; the package doesn't arrive with the mailman; he's thinking of Aaron and all the why's around the kiss and trying to decide whether to call him; Luke makes a brief appearance at lunch; the package arrives UPS after Luke leaves; Grandma Alice's note on the package; Rory can't reach his dad to get him to come home; Aaron shows up; the conversation with Aaron on route; and finally ending with Aaron's revelations. I'm amazed that Rory is still upright. Not only that, it was funny! The funniest part for me was Rory swimming in the pool while glaring at the unopened package on the patio table and humming the theme from Jaws. I mean think back to the first time you watched Jaws and the anxiety you were feeling, especially when the music was playing. Too, too much. 15 minutes after the package had arrived, Rory is talking himself into opening the package because his dad hadn't shown up yet. I mean all Eddie had to do was finish up his court case, get back to the office, check his messages and immediately drive home. Yeah, 15 minutes is more than enough time to do that. No problem. Eddie must be purposefully avoiding him. Aaron's back at the front door after Rory asked him to wait. Aaron says, "...if you
  12. Never let it be said that I can't take a hint. Mind you, being declared an outlaw does hold a certain appeal for me. Yes, Desert Dropping it is. Ok, I wanna talk about Grandma Alice. She's obviously a strong woman and loves Rory to pieces. I mean there's a big mama grizzly bear inside that woman. But she's got this...attitude. The only phrase I can come up with is "a sense of entitlement". This lady carries a big stick and is not afraid to use it, even when it appears that she's the one who should be fessing up to something. Her MO seems to be "the best defence is a good offence". I mean she has Eddie and Rory preparing letters of apology for not behaving as gentlemen should towards a lady. Give me a break, Alice! Ok, there it is. Hugs, Conner
  13. *Conner bows humbly to the Author/Moderator (A/M) In the bent over position (hmmmm, better be careful about doing that around here), a slight smirk registers across his face as he thinks to himself....yes, grovelling usually works...always a good strategy when your sorry ass is in the sling. Conner waits patiently for the gracious and all-seeing A/M to give him permission to speak. After a suitable amount of sweat has beaded on Conner's forehead, the A/M motions Conner to approach the dais. Conner approaches and fully prostrates himself on the floor. He begins to cry and wail and (if you like) even some knashing of teeth* "What's your problem? And will you stop all the frothing and dribbling. You're making a mess." the A/M mutters rather disparagingly. "I'm sorry, Sir. Thank you, kind Sir. I understand that it's important that we be civil and respectful of one another. " *Conner begins to beat his breast* "Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa." Conner whispers, bearly audible to the Lords and Ladies gathered there. "What's your name?" the A/M asks impatiently. "Conner, Sir." "Well, Conner, the grovelling is quite appropriate for my ...umm... position. But now you're making me repeat mysef. I ask you again, what's your problem?" Stuttering, Conner begins, "Sir, I understand the warning system but I seem to be the only member who has the blocks visible. Have I been Mark'ed, Sir?" "Well, Conner, we've all been Mark'ed at one time or another. I feel your pain. Listen, come back later, though. I wish to consult with my learned colleagues on this matter. You may go." *Unhesitatingly, Conner begins to move backwards.* "Oh, Conner, one more thing. Are you being used by anyone right now....I mean, would you be availble for a private session in my... umm... chambers?" "Chambers, Sir?" "Oh, just standard fare, Conner. Nothing elaborate. The usual racks and chains and other...ummmm... contrivances." "Oh, yes Sir! I would be honoured." "Good! There's something I find, how shall I say it, genetically appealing about you. I'll have my First, I mean, associate, show you to my chambers." ...and they lived happily ever after. Hugs, Conner
  14. Thanks! Hugs, Conner
  15. i like it in here. kinda cozy. the colors are funky, but at least its not boring <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm with JC. Conner
  16. Apollo, Forgive me for using a trite cliche, but I feel your pain. I love your avatar. Wanna trade??? Hugs, Conner
  17. You're right on, Nick! If I were Quinn and felt that I had to go all OCD on Jude, I'd start with alphabetizing his body parts. (alphabetize is Taylor's word) Hugs, Conner
  18. Ok, I have two questions. Why was part of Trebs' post blackened out? Did he say someting naughty? If you did, Trebs, sent me a personal email. Ok, so I guess I have 3 questions. Why does my post info have those little blue "warn" blocks? Does 0% mean I haven't been warned or that I've used them all up? Ok, make that 4 questions. Hugs, Conner
  19. Cris, Well, no one can fault you for lacking clarity in your first post. Good stuff! Hugs, Conner
  20. Aaron might mess things up for Rory. My reasoning there is that Aaron is still in love with Luke - but given Luke's current state of mind/emotions, he sees no chance for a reconciliation. So, kissing Rory just might be a way of moving on for him. I think Aaron does have an attraction to Rory. Now if Aaron is truly a slimeball and trying to get to Luke through Rory...well, that's going to be very messy for everyone and I hope it doesn't happen. So far, it's just a kiss. Important, yes, but no one's running to the alter just yet. I'm anxious to see how Rory will react. He will definitely be confused and his loyalty to Luke is going to be tested severely. I'm hoping for some kind of redemption for Aaron. He will be called upon to act honourably and it will cost him dearly - perhaps even a broken heart. I hope he's up for it. In the end, I think Luke and Rory will be together but I want Luke and Aaron to reconcile as well. That's the hopeless romantic in me. Essentially, it all comes down to "In Dom we trust." Hugs, Conner
  21. uhh...I'm only doing this 'cause I like using the emoticons. Had you put Brad's warning to Taylor as one of the choices, I definitely would have gone with that. I think he said, "Well don't complain to me if he starts ironing your homework." So, I'm gonna go with the kiss. Here's my logic. OCD is an anxiety disorder. Kissing Jude has a very calming effect on Quinn and provides more long term relief. Organizing stuff is simply a coping mechanism and the relief is somewhat transient. If this makes sense to anyone, please explain it to me. Hugs, Conner
