Writing a review for an older story, particularly when it appears the author is no longer active, seems a tad overly indulgent.

However.

This story, while seemingly about one thing and in retrospect actually about another, completely different thing entirely, is absolutely worthy of indulgence.

It's a bit of a hyper-realistic trip, but a good trip nonetheless. And, imo at least, one very worth taking. Even if only to see where it goes (which may - or may not - surprise you).

The writing is great, the characters believable, and the story itself well told.

I believe the author used the term "gritty" to describe this work. A term readers would be well advised to keep in mind as they read, because yeah. A gritty tale indeed...

Definitely worth a read.
