Gordy Comes Home - Prologue. Prologue

Some say a man's religion will tell you how he "Wants" to live
A man's philosophy will tell you "How" he lives.
I believe, if you want to really "know" a man, watch how he
handles adversity, such as a broken heart.

This chapter is pretty harsh. John Grant is convinced that life is a dark abyss. It offers no joy, no rest, and no hope. Taking his own life is not an option. If only he could kill the pain.

Thanks to JW Smith for some superfine editing.

Some would say John Grant has led a privileged life in small-town Texas. Certainly, he never wanted for material things. His father loved him and he was surrounded by men he respected. Men who shrugged off misfortune and any physical injury that was not severely debilitating. They just "Cowboyed Up" and would keep on "keepin' on". John lived his life embracing this stoicism. Now it seemed that he was barely able to cope with the pain and guilt he already felt. He was convinced that he would absolutely lose it when "Gordy Comes Home".

I know the first chapter is pretty intense. Trust me. I am a devout believer in "happily ever after". It just that it takes overcoming some challenges and adversity to get there.
