A Christmas Coincidence - 7. Chapter 7

The family's evening ends with lots of shared love and laughter

Trevor unlocked the front door, ushered everyone inside, and closed and locked the door. Two seconds after shedding their coats and footwear, the adults encountered an excited and giggly teenager. The only female in the house was energetically hugged and kissed before she quickly jumped out of the way to avoid being tackled by her soon-to-be stepson. The men, however, weren't so lucky as they became a wiggling mass of tangled arms and legs on the floor after the youthful body collided with theirs. For the next few minutes, the men wrestled with, tickled, hugged, and kissed their affectionate teen and each other.

"I missed you guys," Ben exclaimed. as he hopped between his uncles' and dad's laps, hugging and kissing them.

"Missed you more, bud," Vincent said as he ruffled the teen's hair.

"How was your evening at Scarlett's," Brett and Trevor asked in unison.

"It was awesome. I've been going crazy waiting for someone to get home."

In the kitchen, Julie fixed hot apple cider for everyone, with a shot of liquor added to the adult's drinks. She leaned over the breakfast bar and hollered, "Hang in there for a few more minutes, kid. I don't want to miss a word of what happened."

"I'll wait for you, Mom."

"Julie's already showing she's ready to be a kick-ass Mom to Ben and his future siblings," Brett said with tears in his eyes. His comment garnered head nods of agreement from his boyfriend and brother.

The teen jumped to his feet. His uncles chuckled when he grabbed their hands and dragged them into the family room, with his dad following along. Ben sat on one of the armchairs, Vincent sat on the love seat with Brett on the floor between his legs, and after handing out the steaming mugs of cider, Julie sat beside her brother with Trevor sitting between her legs, next to his brother.

"Ok, kiddo. We're all here, so start talkin', and don't leave out the good parts. I left my romance novels at the manor and need a fix."

Ben and the other guys burst out laughing. "I love you, Mama Julie. You're the best." He sipped his cider, looked at it strangely, and said, "I don't know what you put in this, but I love the kick."

Julie gasped. She sipped her cider and blushed as she swapped mugs with Ben while her future husband and his brothers cracked up laughing.

"Before I get to the dinner, I need to tell you guys there's been a change of plans."

The adults looked at each other.

"Really," Vincent asked.

Ben giggled and nodded his head. He took another sip of his cider and exclaimed, "Aww, man, I really liked the other one."

Everyone chuckled at the teen's statement. Julie and Trevor shared a look while silently communicating and nodded.

Trevor took his son's mug into the kitchen. He used the shot glass on the counter, filled it a little less than twenty-five percent with Southern Comfort, added it to the cider, and stirred the liquid. Before handing the mug to his son, he said, "This is only because it's a special occasion, Ben. Don't expect this very often." The amazed look of being treated like a grown-up on his kid's face was like nothing he'd ever experienced.

"I know, Dad, and you have no idea how cool it feels," Ben said as he stood up and wrapped his arms around his dad.

The others smiled at the interaction.

Brett kissed, then lightly rubbed Vincent's hands as they massaged his shoulders.

"So, what's this new change in plans, baby boy," Trevor asked as he sat down, pulled Ben onto his lap, and cuddled the teen.

"So, Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Morgan and Grandma and Grandpa Wakefield were at the dinner, which surprised me. I swear they know everyone in Rhode Island. Anyway, Grandma Morgan told me that they talked with the Wakefield Grandparents, and the four of them decided that tomorrow needs to be for the five of us to bond and enjoy being a newly formed family unit."

"So, what about everything that was planned at the manor?"

"The grandparents said that you'd ask about that, Mama. They all went to your house and took some food to Great Grandparents Morgan's home in Middletown, where the entire family is having Christmas." Ben sipped his cider and giggled before continuing. "Scarlett's brother was working at the restaurant tonight, and he recorded the songs. He shared the recording with me, and I shared it with everyone else. Dad and Uncle Brett, you've been drafted to sing on Christmas Day. Oh, the Grandmas also said that Dad and Mom need to call them before the end of tomorrow. If you don't, Great Grandma said her pumps can still kick butt."

"Is that it, my handsome news castor," Julie asked while laughing with the other adults.

"That's all the changed plans," Ben said. He squirmed and kicked his legs as he was tickled on both sides. "No fair tickling the messenger, Dad and Uncle Brett," he squealed.

"Better than shooting the messenger," Vincent said, chuckling.

Ben giggled and said, "Good point, Uncle Vince. So, the big news of the evening is that Scarlett and I are dating on a trial basis."

The statement left the chuckling adults intrigued.

"What's the terms of this trial basis," Julie asked after sipping the cider.

"Well, we both feel like we've got a good balance between having things in common and being into different things, but we're not sure if it's the romance of Christmas, so we've decided on reevaluating the relationship after Valentine's Day dance."

Brett crept closer to the father and son duo, wrapped his arm around their right ankles, and tickled the sock-clad soles. It only took a couple seconds for Trevor's and Ben's laughter to be heard as they tried to work their legs free.

"You're askin' for trouble, Uncle," Ben said.

"C'mon, bro, not the bases of my toes," Trevor squealed.

"Nothing like the laughter of ticklish boys," Brett playfully teased.

Ben managed to free his trapped ankle. He jumped to his feet and launched himself at his uncle. Brett grunted, and the pair rolled around on the floor, giggling while tickling exposed spots and wrestling as they each sought victory.

Julie and Vincent laughed and leaned into each other with their hands in front of their mouths like they were holding microphones.

"What an impressive move Ben the Bulldozer made to get free, wouldn't you say, Julie?"

"Oh, totally, Vince. Just look at this excited crowd as they cheer on their favorite in yet another tickle fight held in this arena."

Trevor was in hysterics watching his fiance and future brother-in-law's antics.

Brett grabbed his nephew's waist, pulling him backward along the carpet, pinning his legs under his upper body before tickling the boy's ribs and blowing raspberries on the back of the teen's neck. Ben's shrieking laughter flew from him as he hit the floor with his hands and bucked up and down, trying to escape.

"Uh-oh, look at that Beastly Brett's put the teenage wonder in a ticklish situation he might not escape from."

"Seems that way, Julie. Just listen to that laughter coming from him. Wait! What's this? That's Fearsome Trevor jumping in, but will it be to help Beastly Brett, Ben The Bulldozer, or will he throw everyone a curve ball and take them both out?"

"I can't wait to find out, Vince."

Trevor grinned as he tickled Ben's pit hollows, which caused his son's laughter to spike from the added tickles.

"It's not looking good for The Bulldozer. I don't think he can hold out much longer."

"Me either, Vince, but wait. What's Trevor doing now?"

"Don't know, Julie. Let's watch and see."

Brett hadn't noticed his brother was behind him until he felt arms wrap around his ankles and his socks being slipped from his feet. A second after that, five fingernails rapidly and lightly ran up and down his soft, pale soles, followed by fingertips tracing lines back and forth across the bases of his toes and then their pads. Instantly, he released his nephew as high-pitched, shrill laughter flew from him while he squirmed and tried getting his ankles out of the arm holding them.

"What a turn of events, Fearsome Trevor's reduced Beastly Brett to a helpless squealing boy by tickling his ultra-sensitive tootsies."

"Don't say tootsies, Vince," Brett hollered between his squealing laughter.

Trevor chuckled and said, "Saying tootsie or coochie while getting tickled makes my brother even more giggly and tickly."

"You're gonna pay for telling them that," Brett threatened. He shrieked with boisterous laughter because his nephew's fingers invaded his sides, just above his hips.

"It looks like Brett's gonna lose this match."

"Maybe yes, maybe no, Vince."

Ben jumped on his dad's back, tickling his ribs. Trevor released his brother's ankles and fell on top of the slightly older redhead, lost in hysterical laughter as he thrashed and squirmed.

"This is truly an exciting and unpredictable fight, Julie."

"It sure is, Vince. Wonder who'll be victorious."

Brett got out from under his brother, and he flopped on top of the younger redhead's legs, pulled his socks off, and ravaged the bigger-sized soles with rapid strokes of his fingernails.

With his ribs and feet being tickled, Trevor's body thrashed, and his fists hit the floor as he screeched with wild laughter. Finally, after enduring almost two more minutes of tickling, he hollered, "Uncle... I... Give."

"Wow! Fearsome Trevor's been defeated by Ben The Bulldozer and Beastly Brett."

"Yes, he has, Julie. However, I don't think anyone will have to wait too long before he gets into another tickle fight."

Trevor panted and continued giggling as his brother and son wrapped their arms around him and kissed his cheeks.

"Holy crap, that was epic," Ben exclaimed before yawning.

Brett smiled and added, "It really was, and the running commentary gave it something extra special."

"Boys, we've just enjoyed the first of many fun and playful nights we'll have as a family, and I, for one, can't wait for more kids to love and have fun with."

Vincent hugged his sister and said, "Julie, that's beautiful."

"You're already an awesome Mom," Ben said. "It's been an amazing day, and I'm getting tired."

"What made it so awesome," Julie asked. She pulled the teen onto her lap, cuddled him, and kissed his cheek.

"Really? You have to ask? Mama, it's been an epic day. I got to play with my Uncle Brett, my dad, you, and I got to meet and love my new Uncle Vincent, and I got a girlfriend. That's a heck of a lot for a thirteen-year-old."

That's all it took for the adults to crack up laughing.

Trevor grabbed his boy, hugged and kissed him, and said, "Well, when you put it that way, you have had a busy and fun day."

After giving another hug and kiss to his mom and dad, Ben hugged and kissed his uncles, then went upstairs.

"I can't believe everything that's happened today," Brett said as he and Vincent sat on the bed dressed in their boxer briefs.

"I know. When I woke up this morning, I only had two parents, a sister, and the most amazingly gorgeous boyfriend with an equally beautiful soul. Now, I've got a new brother and nephew, with another one or a niece on the way, and have had the most fun I remember having in a long time."

The couple shared a kiss, they slipped under the covers, and Vincent got comfortable in Brett's loving arms as they were lulled into a good night's sleep.

This was a little shorter than the others, but I believe it's the best ending for this chapter.

What a wonderful chapter. Family bonding, with plenty of tickles, love and laughter.

The commentary and the tickle names was awesome.

@chris191070 I had so much fun coming up with the names.

Although I wasn't that much into it, I remember watching wrestling on Saturday after cartoons and how some of the guys had these fun nicknames, which gave the matches an almost comedic feel.

I started wracking my brain for fun names to give the guys. Trevor's was the easiest, cause he'd already called himself fearsome in the previous chapter.

Very proud of your progress!  You are correct!  I came away feeling like I was sitting in on the action and thoroughly enjoying it.  Ben sounds like a character who can capture your imagination and keep you giggling all the way..

@Greg Ben's very fun and I'm really glad he got added. I'm really happy with and interested by Julie's character as well. She's turned out to be more interactive with the guys and playful than most of the women in my stories.

Are you sure Ben is only 13 years of age @Ticklishboy30? His "evaluation" of his newly minted relationship with Scarlett seems awfully mature for one so young (LOL).

"So, Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Morgan and Grandma and Grandpa Wakefield were at the dinner, which surprised me."

This statement cleared up my confusion regarding Brett and Trevor's parents @Ticklishboy30. I have to wonder why Ben's Grandma and Grandpa Morgan, Ben and Trevor's parents, are so bigoted but Grandpa Morgan's parents seemingly are not. Has Grandpa Morgan become a bigot because of Grandma Morgan's beliefs or the beliefs of her parents, or was he a bigot to begin with? I am intrigued by this scenario. Whatever the reason, it appears Grandma and Grandpa Morgan will "celebrate" a lonely Christmas unless Brett and Trevor have other siblings whom their parents "approve" of.

I have never watched a wrestling match in my life, but the running commentary from Julie and Vince did remind me of the baseball commentary by Phil Rizzuto in Meatloaf's song Paradise By The Dashboard Light from his Bat Out Of Hell album, without the obvious sexual connotations.

Another charming chapter @Ticklishboy30. Plans underway for a family Christmas Dinner and Ben and Scarlett entering the world of dating. Lots of family interaction.

Julie shouldn't be drinking alcohol.

She won't after this night. I just kinda figured since she just found out that morning, and it's still very early, that it couldn't hurt as long as she didn't drink anymore during her pregnancy.

I'm guessing it's both Trevor's and Brett's parents.

I just keep having this idea in my head of them being all around bad parents and the boys custody bouncing back and forth between the parents and grandparents until the father beats up Trevor when he was thirteen because he tells his father that Brett's not an abomination and the father gets put in the hospital when sixteen year old Brett defends his brother.

LOL Yes,  I'm sure Ben's thirteen. I see him as this very intelligent kid, who tends to look at things with more logic, but is also still very playful and loves to have fun.

Grandma and Grandpa Morgan may have "fallen in with a bad crowd", perhaps they started attending one of those fundamentalist churches or started believing the bullshit spouting from their local Republican party representative. Wilful stupidity on the part of one or both Brett and Trevor's parents.

That's one explanation, but I never saw them as church goers. I have this picture of them as being sociopaths, uneducated, and not very intelligent people who always look to find a quick buck, especially at the expense of others, spending time getting drunk, staying strung out on drugs, and only work when they absolutely have to.

Aargh, I see. They have a real chip on their shoulder then. It is someone else's fault, they have been denied the opportunities they should have been presented with. No doubt it is either the "gays, Jews or blacks" fault then. And having a faggot for a son would be just another cruel way the whole world was against them. They just had to beat the faggot out of the boy or else they would not be able to hold their head up in the trailer park.

Sort of. Being sociopaths, gives their behavior an actual medical reason for their mental and emotional defect. It goes deeper than just simple bigotry.

Sociopaths don't know how to love anyone but themselves, and don't have the ability to separate right from wrong. Their only desire and drive is to keep themselves happy at any cost.

I grew up with a sister who has sociopathic tendencies. She has the ability to love, but only up to a point. If living gets in the way of her happiness, love goes out the window, along with the people associated with that feeling. If there's easy money to be had, she'll go to any length to get her hands on it.

It's hardest on the loved ones of sociopaths because as mad as they can make you, you still love them and more often than not you have to make the choice of cutting them from your everyday life or else it could end up being a dangerous situation. Yes, I'm speaking from experience on this one.

That's why you see Brett saying he wishes his parents would come to their senses. He knows in his heart they won't and aren't capable of doing so, but his heart keeps wanting it.

Dang it, @Summerabbacat, thanks to your original curiosity about Lorraine and Phillip Morgan Jr., (Brett's and Trevor's parents, who until this comment remained unnamed)  you've just made me extend this story by another chapter.

I'm soooo tickling your feet for giving some added emotional substance to the 8th chapter thus making it longer than I expected. :gikkle:
