The Education of Grandpa - 9. Grandpa Outed

Pete, one of Geoff’s retirement lunch friends, had met him at the Long River train station. As they drove home, he remarked, “Well, you seem happy. You look like a guy that got laid. Boston must have been a fun trip!”

Geoff was not sure how to respond. He sent a text to Jason asking for his thoughts.

Jason replied: ‘The guy sounds interesting. Go for it.’

Geoff did not have the courage to send an immediate reply to Rocky Hill. For the next few days, he thought about the possibility of an encounter with a stranger with both lust and apprehension.

Most Fridays, Alan and Mason stayed overnight at Grandpa’s home. Friday afternoon Mason arrived directly from school. Since Alan would not arrive until just before dinner, Grandpa asked him to pick up the usual pizza. As Alan entered the upstairs office/computer room, Mason spoke, “You won’t believe what I discovered. We’ve known Grandpa visits gay websites. He has gone much deeper. Nosey guy that I am, I checked out Grandpa’s recent search history. He had visited a site called ‘Silverdaddies.com.’ I wasn’t familiar with the site. This is what I found.”

When we look at the photos and videos, it will confirm my suspicion. Do you want to see photos of your naked Grandpa?”

Alan was dumbfounded as the photos of the handsome man appeared. “We knew Grandpa was handsome. But I never suspected or even thought about how hung he is. OK, the thought crossed my mind and then I erased it.”

Mason continued, “If you think that is hot, wait until you see the videos.” If the photos -surprised Alan, the videos shocked him and staggered his imagination. While I have always considered him a stable, intelligent guy, this whole gay thing is new to him. While I wish him happiness, I worry about the dangers: physical, mental and financial. I assume he does not have gay friends or he would not be searching on Silverdaddies. You need to have a heart-to-heart talk with him to discuss the dangerous situations he could get into.”

Alan replied,” Everything you say is true. But … how does an eighteen-year-old approach his sixty-four-year-old Grandpa to discuss the dangers of gay cruising? I have a suggestion. We should approach him by coming out to him. He possibly already assumes we are gay and in a relationship. Then we will explain that we wanted to know how he progressed in his computer usage and looked at his search history. We are going to have to apologize profusely for snooping. If he does not kick us out of the house at that point, we can bring up Silverdaddies and both the joys and dangers involved in looking for Mr. Right.”

As Alan and Mason entered the kitchen Grandpa asked, “You guys ready for the Moose Tracks ice-cream? I’ll warm up the hot fudge in the microwave.”
