Reap the Whirlwind 2. Killian Kendall Series

   (3 reviews)
A green swirl holds the image of a St. Christopher medal on a chain with the words Reap the Whirlwind, Book two of the Killian Kendall Mysteries by Josh Aterovis.

Will’s world is spinning out of control. The preacher’s son is finally out on his own — navigating a new job, new relationships, and coming to terms with his identity. But when his childhood best friend dies under suspicious circumstances, Will is thrown into a whirlwind of grief, secrets, and unanswered questions.

The police call it an accident. A cryptic note says otherwise.

With the help of amateur sleuth Killian Kendall and friends, Will sets out to uncover the truth. But the deeper they dig, the more dangerous the search becomes. Can they stop the killer before the killer stops them?

Award-winning author Josh Aterovis delivers a gripping mystery layered with heart, identity, and the power of friendship. Reap the Whirlwind, originally published in 2003 and now out of print, returns in this revised edition with major updates. Though it’s the second book in the Killian Kendall series, narration shifts to Will Keegan—Killian still plays a key role and returns as narrator in the next book. This story explores self-discovery, love, and navigating personal identity in times of turmoil, earning the Whodunit Award from the StoneWall Society.

Another good mystery from this writer. Likable characters, a few nasty ones, and a winding story that will tempt you to guess the outcome, though you may guess wrong, as I did.

Prepare to be addicted, and prepare to be drawn into another world. Some of this story will seem frustrating, but only because you're witnessing how some people really deal with life. It can be painful, if you're not used to pain.

And, I have a feeling you will not forget the ending of this one for some time to come!

A riveting, although by no means, easy read. Dark, explosive and twisted, like the mind of the murderer. Replete with red herrings and surprising lashings of humour, primarily courtesy of the larger, and definitely louder than life, Nikki.

Well-written characters presented warts-and-all, mostly ordinary people experiencing some not-so-ordinary events.

The intriguing story title fascinated me from the get-go, and it is one which is so apropos, one which could be applied by the reader in several ways.
