Life of Phoenix - 8. Lakota's Crush

Current: Lakota seeks answers from Nix, while Nix gets a surprise from an old friend.
Past: A Young Nix must face coming out to his family.

Current Time: Lakota's POV

I really need to talk to Nix... but it's not all that easy to do. I never really hang out with Nix alone. Only when I'm with Lyric, do I hang out with Nix. So for me to ask Nix just to hang out, just us, it's... awkward for me to do. I guess I got to suck it up and ask him.

Today was the Thursday before the second round of shows for Peter Pan. We did two last weekend, and we're doing three this weekend. Oliver gave me a kiss on the cheek every time we finished the show. It's always right before our curtain call too. Which makes curtain call ever so awkward.

Nix was talking with one of the science teachers when I found him. I quickly walked up to them. “Hey, Nix.” He offered me a smile and continued his conversation.

I stood there awkwardly as he finished up with the teacher. “I'll be sure to finish marking these for you tonight. They'll be ready for tomorrow.”

“Thank you, Phoenix, you're a good man.” Nix got a pat on the back as the teacher left.

Nix turned to me. “How can I help you Lakota?” Why is he so professional about it?

“Well, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out this afternoon.” Please say yes! “You're not babysitting today are you?”

“Nope, Braxton's dad is off today. What makes little ol' Lakota want to hang out with me?”

I couldn't help but blush when he asked that. “I don't know... I just want to hang out.”

Nix gave me a skeptical look but shrugged it off. “Sure, let's go to my place.” And like that it was just us heading to his house.

We ended up walking to his place. Even turned down a ride from Max for us to walk to his place. It was a pretty awesome walk.

When we got there, we ended up playing games for a while. Just the two of us hanging out like we were brothers or something. It was really fun. Like I said we never really did this before, it's a nice thing, though. I like it.

Too bad I had to ruin when I asked him. “When was the first time you realized you liked guys?”

“Hmm?” Was Nix's reply. “Like, 13 I guess. Why do you ask?”

“How did you know?”

Nix let me skip over his question. “Well... I saw gay porn for the first time and was like 'yep, I'll do that'. Looking back now I could tell you I was flirting with a few guys growing up.”

Ya... thinking back now I was definitely flirting with a couple guys growing up. Just that kind of infatuation where you want to hang out with them all the time. Not like dreaming of sucking them off.

This one kid, Carter was his name; I had a huge crush on him. He was that kid who was always good at sports. Carter was team captain or picked first, just the way it worked. Though, Carter was always a nice guy. He'd hang out with his friends but always liked working outside that group for projects.

One time we had a project for our class. We were to tell the class about a specific country. I got paired up with Carter, and we were selected for France. While we worked, he would always make jokes about the french kiss... Long story short, I totally had a crush on him.

“Cool...”

“Again, why do you ask?” Damn, I thought he was going to let me skip over it.

I shrugged. “I've just wondered and never had a chance to ask.”

That skeptical look he had before returned. “Okay! Wanna play Smash bros?” Oh hell ya!!

I ended up staying at his place for a few hours just playing various games. It was fun. When it was nearing dinner time, I had to get going. Mom and dad would be expecting me to get home soon. So I had to say goodbye.

I ran most of the way home; I don't like being late for things. To my surprise, when I got home there were no cars in the driveway. What I did find though was a note on the kitchen counter.

Off to dinner with friends. Fend for yourselves tonight. Love you, Mom and Dad.

Thanks... I guess I'm eating leftovers tonight.

Just as I got some leftover chicken from last night into the microwave, the doorbell went off. “Who are you and what do you want?” I mostly asked myself.

Looking out the peephole there was Theo, standing impatiently. I opened the door, and he spoke. “Oh, hey Lakota, where's your sister?”

I shrugged. “I don't know; she hasn't been home while I've been here.”

“Great, she's not answering my texts either.” Then suddenly he got a devilish grin on his face. “You busy right now Lakota?”

I could hear the microwave go off. “I'm about to eat dinner, why?”

“Would you like dessert first?” Theo pushing himself inside. “I'm very horny, and you seemed eager to suck me off again last time. So here's your chance, blow me Lakota.”

I stood at the door as he made his way inside. Is this seriously happening again? Theo wants me to suck him off? What do I do? He's dating my sister; the first time was taboo enough. I can't do it again.

He called out from the living room. “Come on Lakota!” I shut the door and walked into the living room. He already had his pants unzipped. “You gonna do it or not?”

I had a moment of 'I really wanna do this'... “No. I can't you're dating my sister.”

Theo rolled his eyes. “Look, she's not giving me the attention I need. So I'm asking to get it from you. You going to blow me or not?” He was dead serious about this.

I regretfully stood my ground. “No, I'm not.” I really wanted to suck him off again. But this is my sister's boyfriend we're talking here. I don't want her to hate me if we to get caught.

“Lakota, you home?” That's Lyric's voice. “Is Theo here? His vehicle's outside.”

I turned and walked into the hallway from the living room to the entryway. “Ya, Theo is here. Mom and dad are out for dinner with friends.”

“Ya, I know.”

Theo came up behind me. “Hey, babe. Was just hanging out with your brother here.”

She smiled and took off her shoes. “You're fly is undone.” Theo checked and found it was indeed not done up. “If I didn't know any better I'd say you two were fooling around.”

I felt my face go into a full flush. “Why would you even say that?” I did the biggest fake eye roll someone could do. “You're nuts; I'm going to eat now.” I probably gonna have to re-re-heat my chicken now.

“Why don't we go to your room?” Theo suggested to Lyric in a low tone. They didn't say anything else; they were just gone. I'm really starting to dislike Theo...

Current Time: Nix's POV

As soon as Lakota went home I found my phone to call Max. He sent me a text a while back saying to call me when I was available, so here I am. I have no idea what he wanted, but I'll call him.

“Hey, Nix,” Max answered his phone.

“Hey, what's up?”

Max stuttered. “Nothing really... You're out to your parent’s right?”

“Ya of course. Why?”

“Can we hang out? I want to... no got to talk to someone.”

What could Max have to talk about? “Ya of course. I'll come over.”

“No, I'll be there in a few. Hold tight.” That's when he hung up. I wonder what could be eating Max up this much?

In just a few minutes, he was at my place. He sent me a 'here' via text when he drove up. I quickly grabbed at the last few bites of my food and made my way to his truck.

We didn't say much as he drove. I knew where we were going. We were heading to the golf course, where we would always go to clear our heads. If something was going wrong for Max, he'd go golfing. Slam his anger into his swings and send the balls... well nowhere.

When we got there, we got out and walked over to the driving range. The course hadn't opened for the season yet but was in the midst of getting ready for it. We took a seat at the top of the driving range.

I decided to break the silence. “What's bugging you so much? You never take someone up here when you're upset.”

“For someone who hasn't hung out with me for a few years, you sure do know a lot about me still.” Word gets around pretty fast around our school. It also doesn't help that Max is the most popular jock. “I did something really stupid last weekend... after the second show.”

“What could you have done that was so stupid?”

He looked me in the eyes. “I slept with Lacey.”

Wow... I didn't see that coming. “We went to an after party, and I got pretty drunk.” I didn't know about this after party. “I ended up in Lacey's bed and... well you don't need the details.”

“Ya, no thanks. Exclusive to guys.” Max let out a chuckle. “I didn't hear about the party.”

Max shrugged. “It was Lacey's party. To be honest, I'm not surprised you didn't hear about it. Neither did Lyric.” Lacey hates us a little bit. Don't know why, she just does. “That's not where my problem lies, though...”

Oh god. “Please tell me you used protection.”

“Oh god yes!” Thank you!!! “I'd never do that without... ya. No the problem I have is what I thought of when we were actually, doing the dead.” You're fucking, apparently, the hottest girl in school and you're not thinking about her? I'd say there is a problem.

“What were you thinking about?”

He shook his head. “Not what, who...” Max moved forward and pressed his lips to mine. Before I knew it, I was making out with him. Our lips crashing together so perfectly. When he pulled back, it felt like a part of me went with him. “I was thinking about you Nix...”

“Oh...” Was all I could get out after that display.

Max was obviously embarrassed. “I'm trying to figure out a way to tell her... and my parents. I want to tell Lacey it was a one-time thing, but she keeps trying to get me to be her boyfriend.” No, no, no, no, NO! Not after that. She's not allowed to have you. “And I want to tell my mom and dad that I'm bi... At least I think I'm bi.”

“Can I be honest Max?” He nodded. It was my turn to press my lips against his. I pushed forward though and got him on his back. His hands went up my back as our groins met. His right hand went back down and grabbed my thigh to pull me closer.

Before I knew it, Max was over me pushing his groin into me as much as he could. We let go of our kiss just long enough for him to throw his coat away. My hands went into his shirt, those muscles, so defined.

Who knows how long we made out for. But we both had raging hard-ons beneath our pants and underwear. “Wow...” We spoke at the same time. I was snuggled into his shoulder as he leaned against a post.

“I guess I know why you thought of me then...”

“Ya...” Max kissed my forehead. “I've wanted to do that for so long.”

I couldn't help but smile. “Same here... You seemed so scared after we did stuff sometimes.”

“I wasn't sure what was happening to me... I know now though.” Max gently made me look up at him. “I love you, Phoenix Russell.” I just smiled and snuggled back into his shoulder.

I can't... Last time I said that it was a lie. It's not something I can say so freely anymore. Sorry Max...

Past Time: Grade Eight

Nix had spent a large portion of his summer with Braxton. Which meant much of his time was spent with Keon around as well. The three seemed to have bonded over the time they had spent together. Keon and Nix especially.

Keon, one day decided they were going to go to the forbidden parts of the internet, porn. “Come on Phoenix, it's not that bad.”

Phoenix stood unsure at the entrance to the computer room. “I don't know Keon... what if your parents come home?”

“They won't, I promise.” Keon smiled. “No one will catch us, that's a Keon guarantee!” Phoenix reluctantly walked into the room and stood behind the chair.

For the next hour, Phoenix and Keon watched porn. Keon put on straight porn to see how his friend would react. Keon knew he enjoyed gay porn more but wasn't sure about Phoenix. What he didn't know that Phoenix spent the entire time watching the men's areas 100% of the time.

After a while, Keon turned to his friend. “So, how are you doing?”

Phoenix blushed. “I'm fine...” His groin was on fire. Phoenix needed to give his crotch the attention it so desperately wanted.

Keon grinned a devilish grin. “You know there is porn with two boys and two girls.” Phoenix's eyes went wide. “Wanna check them out?”

Phoenix shook his head. “No, I should be going home.” He felt nervous, unsure of what could happen if he stayed. “Mom is expecting me home soon. I'm sorry.” Phoenix swiftly made his way out of the house.

Once home, alone, Phoenix returned to the internet. In the Google search bar, he put 'two boys sex'. Once he got through a few more searches, he found a gay porn site and proceeded to give attention to his ever-aching cock. Before he knew it, his load was spread out over his chest.

Just as he finished cleaning himself, the front door opened up. “Nix, you home?” His mother called out. Nix quickly closed all the windows on the computer and ran into the entryway.

“Yes, mom. I'm home.” He smiled, nervous that his mother would know something happened.

She came up ruffled her son's hair, walking past him. “How was Keon's?”

“It was good. We played some games and went outside.” Nix followed his mother into the house.

“That's good, wanna help me with dinner?”

Nix shrugged. “Sure.”

It wasn't until later that night that Nix's fear came true. He had been playing video games before bed while his parent got his sister ready. She had been in bed for a few minutes when Nix heard his name being called from the computer room.

He quickly paused his game and made his way to the computer room. Please, please don't find that site I was looking at. He thought to himself. When he came into the room, there it was. The site where he had watched two young men having sex appeared on the screen. Shit.

“Do you know anything about this Nix?” His mother asked him. Nix didn't say a word. He was about ready to cry standing there in front of his mother. “What's wrong Phoenix?”

Tears started to flow down his cheeks. “I... Keon showed me some stuff earlier today. He mentioned that two boys could... I was just curious is all.” He managed to get out in between sniffling. “I'm sorry, I won't do it again.”

Trisha got up and hugged her son. “It's fine for you to be curious, Nix. I'm not disappointed in you.” Uncontrollable tears flowed down Nix's face. For a few minutes mother and son stayed in this state. That is until Nix calmed down. “We should sit down and talk.”

Nix nodded and followed his mother to their living room. “I didn't even know this stuff existed until Keon showed it to me.” In Nix's mind, he didn't want to be in trouble, but the only way to get himself out of the trouble was to blame someone else. Keon was the only one he could blame.

“Nix, that's enough.” He sat down confused. “Stop blaming Keon for this. You would have found it one day nonetheless. I don't care that you were looking at it; I care about what you were looking at.”

The two boy’s thing? Nix thought to himself. “It was just two boys...”

Trisha silenced her son. “Phoenix, it's more than 'just two boys.' That kind of stuff gets curious around your age, and for some boys it's just a phase they go through. Others it becomes their life in the sense that they care for another boy like a mom and dad care about each other.”

“Oh... I didn't know that.” Nix lowered his head.

“Do not feel ashamed for what you did Phoenix. There is nothing to be ashamed of.” Nix looked up to his mother's eyes. Peering into them he found trust and truth to her words. “The only thing I want to talk about is how you feel towards other boys.”

“Why?”

She sighed. “I want to know who my son is. So I may love him and encourage him properly. Your father nor I care about who you fall in love with. All we care about is that you are happy with who you are with.” Nix smiled for the first time since the conversation started. “Now, how do you feel towards other boys?”

Nix shrugged. “There is a couple of them... that I guess are...” He felt too awkward to finish his sentence.

“And girls?”

This required more thought from Nix. He knew he liked Keon, and Max, but a girl? Is there even a girl he liked? Lyric? No, no way, she's like my sister. Nix went through girl after girl in his head. Not one of them made him feel the same way Keon or Max did.

“I guess not... Nothing really. I don't like any girl that I can think of.” Nix told his mother. “What does that make me?”

“A teenage boy going through puberty.” Nix blushed at the thought of what that meant. “One day you might find a girl who you like, maybe, maybe not. What we know now is that you like a boy or two, and that's fine. Has your father had the 'birds and the bees' talk with you yet?”

“Oh god, yes mom he has!” There was no way Nix was going to sit through that conversation again.

“Well, the same rules apply to boys. Wear protection.”

Nix hid his face. “Thanks, mom!”

“You're welcome. Now it's time for bed, go brush your teeth.” Nix gladly got up and made his way out of the room. His parent may know he was into boys, for a long time they had been skeptical of his sexuality, but they had no idea how close their boy was to his first legitimate relationship.

Chapter End.

The bit of Trivia I got for you today is about Phoenix and my original story Life's Expectations.
In the original 3 chapters of LE Nick Bells' name was Phosnix Bells. After I rewrote the first few chapters I changed his name to Nick just because I wasn't sure how well Phoenix would be received. I did make referance to his original name though, saying "PhoeNICKs" in an attempt to hid his name within a conversation.
That's all this time!
