Leap - 1. Leap

Short Stories

Standing on the edge of eternity

looking out into the abyss

I see all and nothing -

my soul can not resist.

Closing my eyes to the aether

opening the web of my mind

reaching out into forever

I leave my worries behind

One step from the edge

so eager to fall

one step from the edge

about to lose it all

The rock begins to crumble

under my feet as I stand

flinging my arms open wide

I wonder where I will land

Sailing though the aether

a soul without a care

I wonder what I could have been

had I stayed there

I wonder what I could have been

had I stayed there...

Chapter Comments

You know, THIS would have been the perfect poem for this year's spring antho :)

The last haunting question... Why do we still always look back and wonder?

Leap had many layers, the obvious ones of course. For me for some reason it was a leap that we take in every day life, the choices we make and the crossings we face. It was a metaphor of life this poem, since we do take the LEAP every day. And always always pine for past asking what if?

Really really good poem, Lugh.
