I Understand - 1. Chapter 1

There’s a pain in my heart

For where we once stayed

For the friends I left behind

When we moved away

Deep in my heart

I couldn’t comprehend

How we could just leave

our family and friends

For years I was bitter

and wanted to go home

I couldn’t seem to grasp

What I should have known

Now I have to wonder

If things were ever so great

Was it all a lie

A life I chose to create

Everyone’s changed

and not doing so good

or maybe they haven’t changed

and I never understood

But now I can see

After all of there years

My dad did the right thing

When he moved us here

Our lives weren’t that good

When we lived over there

The people we love

probably never cared

I’m surrounded by love

Every where I turn

But I think it’s a lesson

that I had to learn

I live a blessed life

Thanks to the day

That my dad decided

To move us away

Modesto, California

My home never more

I’ll stay in Virginia

and take whatever’s in store

My only regret

About moving this way

Is that I didn’t see the blessing

Until today
