Thank You for Sharing Your Feedback

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete the Gay Authors community survey.

We have received a strong response from members across the community, including daily readers, occasional visitors, authors, editors, and members who mostly enjoy Gay Authors quietly in the background. We appreciate every response.

The survey has given us a helpful snapshot of what members value most and where we should focus future improvements.

What We’re Hearing

The clearest message is that Gay Authors remains, first and foremost, a place where members come to read stories, follow favorite authors, and discover new things to enjoy.

Several major themes have come through strongly:

  • Members want story discovery to feel easier and more intuitive.

  • Many readers care deeply about whether stories are complete, ongoing, or on hold.

  • Tags, genres, tropes, and story details are important when choosing what to read.

  • Members want better ways to return to stories they were already reading.

  • Readers value updates from favorite authors and stories, but also want better control over notifications.

  • Some members prefer a simpler browsing experience, while others rely on advanced tools and filters.

  • Authors and editors would like stronger support, better feedback, and improved tools.

This feedback is extremely useful because it helps us understand not only what members want, but also where existing tools may need to be clearer, easier to find, or better organized.

What This Means Going Forward

Many of the things members asked about are already part of our planning for the next major update. We are working toward improvements that will make Gay Authors easier to browse, easier to personalize, and easier to use across desktop, tablet, and mobile.

Planned areas of focus include:

  • Improved search and filtering

  • A simpler browsing option for members who prefer a more guided experience

  • Better reading history and continue-reading tools

  • Similar story and similar author recommendations

  • Continued cleanup and improvement of tags, genres, tropes, and metadata

  • Better notification and communication preferences

  • Clearer story status and completed-story pathways

  • Author portal and author support improvements

  • Accessibility and display improvements

  • Dark mode and theme support as part of the upcoming platform upgrade

We are also continuing work on optional new story formats, including interactive fiction. Traditional stories will remain the heart of Gay Authors, but this will give interested authors and readers another way to create and experience stories.

A Note About the Feedback

Not every suggestion can be implemented exactly as written, and some requested tools already exist in some form. Even so, the feedback is still valuable. If members are having trouble finding or using something, that tells us where we need to make the experience clearer.

That is one of the most important takeaways from the survey.

We are grateful for the honesty, thoughtfulness, and support shown by the community. Gay Authors has always grown because of its members, and your feedback will help guide the next stage of that growth.

Thank you again for helping shape the future of Gay Authors.
