I've been to Phuket. It was a port-of-call for my ship in our 1991 WestPac cruise. We spent four wonderful days there, including the Fourth of July.

I can remember overhearing an argument between Shore Patrol and local police after a sailor was accused of walking out without paying by a local prostitute. The sailor claimed in his defense that while having anal intercourse he reached around to discover that it was a guy, not a girl he was screwing.

The SP made him pay her bar fine (a term for payment made to a prostitute).

Then there was my getting kicked out of eight bars for fighting and so forth, recovering from a broken nose I got in Singapore, and of course a few friendly skirmishes with some very cute Marines.
