So, I went to see "Borat" last night ... that has to be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I'm a big fan of "Da Ali G Show," and always thought it was pretty outrageous, but this really took the cake. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but ... whew, it was TOTALLY off the chain! I also ran into my boss at this little Thai restaurant near the movie theater which was kind of creepy, but it's all good.

 

One of my best friends from high school is crashing on my living room floor for a couple of weeks until he finds a new place. He's going through a divorce right now. It makes me feel sooo old that two of my good friends from high school have already been married and are going through divorces, and a bunch of my old high school classmates have kids now, too. Seeing all the high school kids at the movie last night made me feel really old, too. Ugh!!!!!

 

I've had a bunch of ideas for my new story, and feel a bit inspired. Hopefully I can force myself to actually sit down and start writing soon. I need something to do other than working and watching TV. Nevertheless, I've been enjoying getting reacclimated to American TV again. I've become addicted to that reality show, "Little People, Big World." I don't know what it is I like about that show, but I can't stop watching it.

 

I need to go to the grocery store and do laundry today, two of my least favorite activities. We'll see if I actually end up getting anything done. I also need to get the oil changed in my car pretty soon. *sigh*

I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've been reading, it sounds like Sacha Baron Cohen uses the Borat chartacter to put people into Candid Camera type embarrasing situations, and then captures them being themselves. Cohen sounds sort of like Allen Funt with sex appeal.

WITH sex appeal? Personally I found him to be remarkably unattractive. I haven't seen the movie, and don't intend to. I get that other people like that kind of humour but it's total "trainwreck" type of stuff and I really DO want to look away in situations like that. It's exactly the kind of stuff that does get on my nerves. Silly witty/clever (like Robin Williams) I like. Silly just plain weird (like "Phobe" on Friends or any other stock ditz/freak) I also like. Silly obnoxious (this kind of stuff, Will Ferrel (AKA the most annoying person on the face of the earth), Adam Sandler) I HATE, totally turns my stomach. Still I'm glad other people watched it and enjoyed it. :)

 

I know what you mean about feeling old based one what's happening with the people from high school. All my old classmates are getting married or having babies too. It's okay though; we can stay young and live forever...or die trying :boy:
