I'm sitting here on Friday night at midnight and the movie "Hairspray" just came on. Yes, this is what you do on a Friday night when you're in your 40s. Anyway, this has become one of my favorite movies for a bunch of reasons. First of all, the cast was great. Allison Janney, John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Queen Latifah, and Michelle Pfieffer, they were all great. And then there's Zac Efron. Wow. What a wet dream waiting to happen. Then there's the message, the focus on segregation. "Negro Day"....how great was that? But I guess for me the most meaningful thing about it was that it was one of the things that inspired me to start writing again and to set my first fictional story, "Chronicles of an Academic Predator," in 1962.

To think, you could someday own Edna's Occidental Laundry or the Hardy Har Hut. LMAO.
