Your description of the bloodstain on the floor at the lighthouse reminded me suddenly Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. The bloodstain there is supposed to belong to David Rizzio - Mary, Queen of Scot's private secretary. Pretty graphic in both cases. I mean, I've seen it, but does it belong to him? I don't know. Now watch, I'll have a nightmare wherein he comes to haunt me.

I was taught that Fitz was used when the child was recognized by his father. But you might be right. I'm thinking of Henry VIII's son Henry Fitzroy. Maybe both are true.

Why is he a FitzDarien? I thought Atreus was recognized by Darien as his son. I'm also supposed to be a Fitz. My grandfather dropped the Fitz and used a simple F before his last name. My father dropped it entirely. Not surprising that everyone knew what the Fitz meant then

Mark, you must have had so much fun writing JJ's character. He's both hilarious and infuriating to read. I am curious if you've ever known someone like this. Actually, I have a sister who used to watch herself in the buffet's mirror in the dining room when she spoke to us. Once I turned to answer her by meeting her eyes in that mirror and she stomped off in a rage, lol. Still makes me laugh and that was 30 years ago.
