Same here! I remember the John Wayne movies, the Japanese "westerns," all the Clint Eastwood ones, etc. I have been re-reading this one and it's amazing how much I missed the first time around. Looking forward to your next western.
I was always very close to my grandmother who loved me as her own child. When she died, I went through what Jimmy did. The void had always been there but got bigger. I eventually got on antidepressants, thank the gods. This chapter brought it all back and I love it for that. CPTSD will kill some of us, no matter what but I'm still here.
I am overwhelmed w the stupidity our government. Honestly, this seems about right. There's still this belief that they're all gunslingers. I'm more than embarrassed at being American. Can't I throw myself on the mercy of our neighbors to the north?
