The minute I finished this, I had to re-read it and not just for the sex scenes. I don't remember a story so well and hysterically written. I wish I could visit!
And here I am, saddened as I always am when a fine book ends. What an amazing story you tell. Through most of the book the story is told richly but also tightly, just as the characters are written as they must be. But when their commissions to the Crown are finished, the sun rises, warms and unfurls just like their love.
Please, oh please, please, please write more soon!
Back in the '60s and '70s I'm thinking there either were no protocols, kids were property (much like women) or people didn't want to get involved. It took a social worker from a group I was in telling me I should have been removed to finally realize how bad it really was. I'm still angry at times and will probably always be.
Not that this isn't enough... but is it finished? I've grown quite attached to these characters - even the vile Mr. Vane. He's a pure delight to despise.
