Petre is more risking Ain being pissed with them than Fenn tbh

They'll calm down eventually

Mhalyn couldn't help but gasp when she saw Fennrin being led toward their forest-side camp, utterly broken-looking, his hands bound . There were gasps all around her, echoing her, but she had the feeling those gasps were not due to shocked pity like hers. Fennrin's head hung low, clearly refusing to look at anyone, but still Mhalyn could see just how red his eyes were, how thin he seemed, not just in his frame but his face as well. Had he not been eating properly on his chase of them?

One of the only ones too currently

Something was wrong. So terribly wrong. Fennrin had noticed the dread around noon, the same dread he'd felt every so often these past few weeks. At first it was somewhat easy to ignore, but as he kept looking for the rebels, it got worse and worse until eventually he had to stop. He braced himself against a tree, his throat closed up as he breathed hard, feeling as someone had reached into his ribcage and squeezed his heart and lungs. It was as if he was anxious, but infinitely worse.

Petre villain arc was so close

"We have to get rid of the Nightrazer," Petre said grimly once the group stopped for the night. They didn't even want to say Fennrin's name given what they were suggesting. It was much less complicated when Petre pretended Fennrin was some sort of boogieman rather than a person. He might as well be now after everything he'd done. Petre knew Mhalyn had said something had been off about Fennrin, but they didn't know the extent of what Daryan might have done to influence that. For all the

Fenn is next on the list of problems to solve 🫡

Every so often, Mhalyn's mind reminded her that they were likely marching to their deaths. And every time, it also reminded her that she was not worried about it. Perhaps she should be a bit disturbed by how accepting she was of this risk. But she was glad for it. It kept her focused. There was no going back, only forward. And if they could manage to help Lys-Akkaria, that was always worth dying for. She was however privately sick of eating mushrooms all the time. Mhalyn would never sa

Evil Yari AU fanfic coming up

Worry not, his rescue from the claws of Daryan is imminent

It's a good thing she's not an antagonist (anymore)

Yarima was so intensely relieved that Neven was on their side now. Not only because it made it much easier going forward with deposing the queen with a powerful ally and a national hero, but also because Denir had been truly torn up about fighting Neven about this and not having him agree that their mother was evil. Yarima hadn't expected the Daybreaker to be the source of this realization, but she was certainly not mad about it. But now they had to devise a plan. Denir had gone off to

It took him a while but better late than never

Neven had told himself it would get easier. That he'd get used to it. It was increasingly apparent that he would never get used to it. Listening to Tyr-Naralyn scream in pain as he got tortured by the scientist, experimented on in much more horrific ways than Neven ever had been because she couldn't figure out how to get his power.... It was horrible. He couldn't pretend it didn't affect him anymore. At least not privately. It all made Neven flash back to when it was him in that c

Fennrin arrived at the door to Daryan's office with both anxiety and pride. He had managed to kill at least half of the rebel group. Even with the other half fleeing, they had fled to Orinovo, which was clearly an act of utter desperation. So surely that could be considered utter defeat. With any luck Orinovo would devour them, ending the rebel threat for good. But he was not certain if Daryan would see it that way, which was why he was so anxious. Fennrin knocked on the door

Mhalyn's legs ached with exhaustion, barely able to walk by the time they exited the seemingly endless forest. She was about ready to weep when the trees came apart enough to see the sunset, setting over an unfamiliar, hostile land. And yet somehow it was less hostile than her home. No matter how much Orinovo hated them, how much the queen would no doubt revel in capturing and executing them, or even her in particular, mistakenly thinking it would hurt Daryan, it was still safer than Lys-Ak

We'll still find new lows, worry not

This was a disaster even beyond what Mhalyn had assumed could happen. Them being blamed for what Daryan had done to the harvest had been expected, but to set up a curfew to make it nearly impossible for them to travel without being seen? She hadn't wanted to face the possibility of escaping into Orinovo. It was enemy territory after all, and it would be about as dangerous to be out there as it would be to stay in Lys-Akkaria. Or so she had thought before traveling the country became functio

Fennrin wasn't certain why Daryan had summoned him back to Kyr-Toryl, he only hoped it wasn't to punish him again. Though he could feel something had changed, even from rushing down dark alleyways to get to the palace, staying as a shadow as much as he could. Something about the atmosphere in the city was different. He couldn't put his finger on it because the people seemed angry like before, but in a different way. Perhaps their ire was aimed elsewhere. But Fennrin didn't waste time t

It was like the last thing he could do to get everyone on board and he sure has a convenient power to manage it
