He's just a little man ❤️

Torryn was happy about their people getting healed of their afflictions, of course, but seeing Lalianus get tired from it to the point of passing out worried him. He'd gently tried to point out that Lalianus didn't have to heal people en masse. He had tried to suggest that Lalianus could just heal a few people daily, one after the other, to not exhaust himself so much, but Lalianus wasn't interested in listening to him, it seemed. Torry watched over the star resting in his bed, ears tw

Lalianus had to admit that Venneth's point about his new clothing distracting people away from Torryn seemed to have worked because everyone kept looking at him. Lalianus wasn't sure how to feel about that, but then it shouldn't feel much more different than when he had been in the sky. Plenty of humans looked up at him and his siblings each night, even if Lalianus himself had not found his permanent place yet. Lalianus still kept an eye on his Torryn, though. He didn't want anyone to

He looks mostly human but with antlers, four floppy ears, and star pupils in his eyes. I sketched him at some point, very messily, the spots are meant to be scales 😅 (Hope it's okay to include an image in a comment)

Watching Lalianus interact with a parrot was incredible. Torryn tried so hard not to laugh at how endearing them mimicking each other's motions was, but it was difficult. Torryn covered his mouth as Lalianus' once again humanoid head moved left and right, and the parrot followed, making a noise that Torryn couldn't identify. The animal was so vibrant, with a long, drooping tail, red and gold feathers, and feathers on the top of her head that kept going up and down. Whenever the bi

Thank you so much 🥰

Absolutely, we'll even meet the rival king 👀

Lalianus zoomed around the palace halls, his claws clicking against the smooth stones, zig zagging between pillars, and then rolling around on rugs when he got tired. He loved running around with his dragon body so much. It was definitely one of his favorite activities in the human world, next to hugging and snuggling with Torryn. And talking with Torryn, listening to him. And just spending time with Torryn in general. Lalianus would no doubt enjoy running around even more if it was wi

Perhaps. And perhaps there will be more than just one 😁

Seeing Venneth again after so many years was as surreal and awful as Torryn had expected it to be. He couldn't even look at him properly. Not when Venneth was giving him such a venomous look. "How dare you come here?" Venneth asked flatly. His voice wasn't angry. No, it was much worse—he was disappointed and exasperated. Torryn was about to explain when Lalianus trotted over to Venneth, taking on his more human form, which at first startled the king, but then he relaxed again, foc

Venn is a good guy, he's just exasperated

Lalianus was very relieved that the rest of the trip to Alyra went off without further problems. None of his siblings had mentioned that people had dared threaten or endanger them. They had mentioned certain animals attacking them, but never humans. But most of the ones who had gone through their own starfall were bigger and stronger. As a human, Lalianus wasn't very tall or wide. He had taken on his dragon form instead, just to feel safer with his claws and size. It made snuggling mor

Torryn was still amazed Lalianus had managed to get him free, and the selfish part of him was very happy about that. But objectively, he did not deserve mercy. And especially not divine mercy. But Lalianus seemed to have chosen Torryn as his guide for now and had been serious enough about it to get him out of the dungeons. Who was Torryn to question the ancient star's wisdom? Lalianus meanwhile had seemingly forgotten about the altercation, very excited to look at everything around him

Because this was meant to be more cozy fantasy I don't really go into details about the politics and this doesn't really come up, but I assume some got executed and some swore loyalty to the new king because they were just following orders.

The mayor's house was bigger than Torryn's, but not dramatically so. Lalianus was fascinated by how humans felt comfortable in these small rooms. He did not feel uncomfortable, but he would prefer a larger space to move around in. Or at the very least higher doorframes. He'd never had to deal with his antlers hitting anything. This had been a problem at Torryn's house as well, but the difference was that he petted his head every time Lalianus knocked something over with his tail or hit his

Lalianus surveyed the damage to Torryn's house after those awful people's attack, looking at the indents left by rocks thrown at the walls. He'd been warned that humanity could be hostile to itself, but this was utterly baseless. Whatever Torryn might have done in the past, it did not justify harassing him like this and so often. Torryn was gentle and kind, and a very good ear petter. Lalianus didn't understand what the problem was. It seemed very clear to him. He would try to ask

He's just a simple little man, for better or for worse

Torryn groaned as he woke up, his back hurting from sleeping on the floor. It took him a second to realize why he'd done that in the first place, and it wasn't because he'd drank too much the night before. He sprung up, wanting to check that the star was still there, on his bed, only to freeze and stare. Because there was no longer a dragon there. Instead, there was a dragon-like man. There was no doubt this was Lalianus, watching Torryn with his head titled curiously. It looked like L

"The endless blue expanse of sky, full of countless, burning stars, their own purpose they must edify, By falling from the heavens sparse To show humanity the right way They face the earth's bite And then to the heavens return must they To anew illuminate the night" Torryn hummed to himself as he carved the piece of maple wood in his hand. Tonight, he was making a lizard he'd seen this afternoon, sunning itself out in the field as Torryn had plowed it. He'd star

When the star dragon Lalianus falls from the heavens to find his purpose and breaks his wing upon impact on earth, he finds help and refuge with Torryn, the man whose backyard he'd crashed into. Excited to learn about humankind, he asks a million questions during his stay with Torryn, eventually coming to learn not all is well with these lands, and that his human caretaker has far more to him than meets the eye. Now determined to help, Lalianus ventures to meet the king with Torryn by his side, so that he may offer his assistance with the crisis the kingdom is facing in the aftermath of losing a war with a neighboring country.
